HELP! I itch everywhere
LindsayT replied to LindsayT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, nothing has changed. I'm thinking ketosis. I have an appointment with my team Wednesday -
I would keep with the 1 oz every 15. And try to up it from there, to maybe 1.5 oz.

Oh man, I know how you feel. It's been an adventure finding g something I like.

HELP! I itch everywhere
LindsayT replied to LindsayT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought about that too, but it doesn't seem like it. -
As far as getting liquids in, I'm finding it harder now that I'm in puree stage. For each meal I have to wait 30 minutes before and after, as well as the 30ish minutes it takes me to eat. So for 3 meals I'm losing 4.5 hours of drinking time. I drink as fast as I can without overdoing it, but I still seem to come up short a lot.

Sometimes. If the liquid is too cold or I gulp too much at once.

My rny was May 1st, and I've lost 15lbs since surgery (30 since the start of pre-op diet). I just feel like 15 lbs is low. It's an average of less than a pound a day. I've already stalled once at about 2 weeks out. I'm just looking for some guidance. Thanks.

I had mine on the 1st as well. How are you doing?
-
Probably once your incisions are completely healed
-
Yay! It would be nice to have smooth arms again.

I get the dry climate of Colorado. It's just more severe than "normal"

Great thank you!

How's the genepro protein? I just ordered some and should be here soon. I'm having trouble finding an unflavored protein that isn't awful tasting. Also, congratulations on your win! That's exciting.

You can get them on Amazon, Bariatric Pal, your local big box store, and other locations/websites. You need to use liquid or chewable; no gummies. Multivitamins with iron, calcium, B12, and D3 are the recommended vitamins. This might look different for you based on your program and surgery. These are the vitamins my program and surgery required. There are also specific amounts of each vitamin/supplement, but I don't know those numbers right off. And don't take your calcium with iron. Did your team not give you this information?

You would maybe be okay for the drive. However, the dietary restrictions may be hard to follow. You'll be on full liquid, no alcohol, tired. I would seriously think it through.

@AmandaD. It's hard to give a definitive yes or no. Everyone is different. My experience. I didn't have any issues drinking. I had rny, but not hernia repair. My issue was, liquids taste off. I'm still dealing with that almost 3 weeks out.

I can't soak yet, too soon after surgery. Does the dry skin every go away.

Go somewhere fun to get your steps in. Nothing crazy, just somewhere new. Just make sure to bring a protein drink and a water bottle. And not go alone, if you can. A nice shop, farmers market, or park is a good choice. Walking a main street in a cute little town is fun. Once we get a free weekend, we're planning on a trip to a museum. Of course, this is all based on how you're doing, so don't push yourself too much. Start slow and work your way up, and give yourself grace to stop if you need to. My team wanted me walking 2 miles a day, almost immediately. It's a lot, but if I can focus on something else, it makes it easier. And BTW, I still haven't made the 2 miles, but I'm getting close.

isopure infusions - is there a trick?
LindsayT replied to heatherdbby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never blended mine. Even when I wash my shaker bottles they foam until all the protein is gone. You just got to wait it out. -

It takes some time for the foam to go down. Most powdered protein is foamy when you shake it. -
5days post op- Help with symptoms: normal
LindsayT replied to NikkiRose89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try a body pillow or regular pillow under your tummy. I went from using a wedge pillow to sleep in more of an incline, to the body pillow, then a regular pillow. I've been sleeping fine on my side for about a week. My rny was may 1. -
Protein shots are what's getting me through. Bariatric Pal has some pretty good ones. They are usually about 3 oz worth, and I add about 4 oz more of water. There are lots of brands with 20g protein or more. I can not do the shakes any longer. Any time i try one, i feel like I'm going to vomit. I also bulk up my soups with unflavored protein. I'm still trying to find one I like. Good luck.

I've read on here that being cold all the time can happen for some, but this early? I'm just over 2 weeks out, and I'm freezing all the time. I sleep in my winter slipper socks and a fleece shirt, and I'm still cold. Blankets on all day. Heat turned on in the car. Is this normal this early?

Yes! I can almost taste the baby food consistency chicken. 😋 My RNY was May 1st.
