I stalled around 2 weeks and it lasted about a 1.5 weeks. I'm finally losing again. Hang in there!
-
It was severe lower abdominal cramping that lasted several hours, sweats, dizziness, and almost hyperventilating. It was awful.

Eating out for the first time
LindsayT replied to LindsayT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We're planning on going to Bonefish. I have my eye on the salmon with s little bit of the mango salsa, mashed potatoes and veggies. My husband and I will share this. I'll probably eat mostly the salmon and some of the veg. -
I spoke to my surgeon about it and he said it was dumping. So, IDK

I had diarrhea my first week also, by week two it had calmed down. Now I'm just constipated unless I take miralax everyday. This surgery really does a number on your gut.

Psychiatric medication efficacy
LindsayT replied to Jonathan Carlson's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It may depend on your surgery. Bypass causes malabsorbtion, and that could carry over to your medication. For one of my mental health medications, they were doing blood work often to check my levels. I would speak to your med provider. They may have to change dosing. Good luck! -
Thanks! I'm just terrified of dumping. I had a dumping episode Sunday for the first time after taking one of my medications with applesauce (as I've done since after surgery). I guess I didn't wait long enough to start drinking my breakfast protein. It was the most awful pain I've ever felt outside of childbirth. I would really like to avoid that happening again.

For example, I'm the morning I'll take the omeprazole (acid reducer), Multivitamin, B12, D3, and a stool softener. That seems like a lot on my stomach in one go. Should I wait 30 minutes to eat or can I just eat right away. I am 4 weeks out tomorrow.

What was your "Last Meal" before starting the pre-surgery diet???
LindsayT replied to Jjohnson1971's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We went to Outback. Prime rib, mashed potatoes, asparagus. And of course, bread, blooming onion, and a gallon of sweet tea. I think we did dessert too, but I honestly don't remember. -
I get that sometimes, especially if I drink something that's too cold or drink and then lay down. For me, it passes pretty quickly. However, since Sunday, I've been getting lower abdominal cramping that is pretty intense right before I need to pass gas. My surgery was May 1st. Hope this resolves, and I agree, call your team.

HELP! I can't find an unflavored protein that's not funky. I've tried Unjury and Isopure. Both make me nauseous. The only one I like is collagen, and my diet doesn't allow for that to be a primary protein source.
-
Yes! Just had mine done May 1st. He's is wonderful and did an amazing job.

You got this! I do understand that it is a big, life changing event, but it will be totally worth it. What are you most scared about?
-
Congratulations on your surgery. How are you feeling? Do you have any questions?

I start soft food Thursday. I cannot wait.
-
That's a good idea. Maybe I can have that during soft food stage with a very mild sauce
-
The liquid stage is hard, but it will pass. For now, here's a laugh... just don't forget your scoop of protein powder, lol
-
Ya, that's a lot. Also being in the sun can zap your energy, especially if you're not staying hydrated enough. I would say for a day like that around 100oz of water.
-
I'm craving hot wings. Can't quite puree that and it be any good. I'm searching the internet for ideas.
-
Nope. Mine is a lovely shade of yellow...lol You can google poo colors and what they could mean. But with having surgery, I'm not sure that'll be very accurate right now.
-
I'm glad the broth helped. I feel like craving will get me in trouble. It's finding healthier versions. A lot to learn after surgery.
-
Then, would follow what your surgeon said. The normal requirements are liquid for 2 weeks, puree for 2 week, and then soft foods for 2 weeks. High protein, low carb, low-fat, and low sugar. Does that sound about right for you?
-
You should have gotten all that information from your bariatric team. What questions do you have?
-
If you choose a different dietitian, make sure they are very familiar with bariatrics. I went to one before surgery, and she was not very knowledgeable about life after WLS.
