I would say if it's soft, easy to chew, and moist the turkey sausage is totally fine. However, each program may have different criteria of what is considered "soft food". Congrats on your loss so far, that's great! I'm by no means an expert on stalls. I just keep reading, stick to the program. It'll break soon enough.

I can put away a whole egg too. Depending on what it is I can eat about 2-4oz. I'm about 5 weeks as well.. As far as breakfast. What about turkey sausage, oatmeal with protein powder, or yogurt. I'm still mostly drinking my breakfast.

I found tuna has a lot of protein. You can add unflavored protein to anything liquid or pureed. If you are set on foods for protein, set a timer and not wait until you're hungry.

    Lost all motivation

I'm so sorry that happened. And I know how much hurtful words from your spouse can really shake one at their core. Could you find a marriage counselor who does online video calls? I think therapy is the only viable option to get to the root of what's going on. Or maybe a bariatric surgery support group for partners. Someone had mentioned that he may feel threatened by your weight loss. That is not an uncommon problem; especially if the partner is insecure. Maybe try to build up his security. Men normally respond to verbal praise. For example, in the first few weeks after my surgery, my husband was a very grumpy person to be around. When I commented on it, he blew up and said how overwhelmed he felt with work, taking care of a large portion of the home responsibilities, that it's been all about me and my recovery, and a few other things. I took some time to process, and in the right timing, I thanked him for all he's doing and told him that it did not go unnoticed. I reassured him and built him back up. Since then, things have been going really well. Your therapist may have some other ideas.
  5. As far as cooking. Most recipes can be modified to fit our diets. Please continue to enjoy cooking and your beautiful cookbooks. Eating after surgery and healed doesn't have to be bland and boring.
  6. Great points. Thanks!

    Going "camping"

A fellow RVer! Great ideas. And they all sound delicious. Enjoy the camping season!
  8. Is it with all liquids, hot and cold? Sometimes, warmer liquids feel better going down. If it doesn't get better, maybe contact your team. In my experience if I drink colder liquids and lay down, I get some pain where you described.
  9. What are some good high protein snacks for soft food stage? I'd like to start moving away from protein drinks. Thanks!

That's rough. Have you explained to him what our diet looks like? I feel like all I do ALL DAY is eat and drink.
  11. It started yesterday (Sunday). I woke up, and my palms were super itchy. Within 20 minutes, my arms and armpits started. And it spread to the rest of my body. I then started to get red bumps. I immediately thought I'm having an allergic reaction to something. Only I hadn't ingested anything or touched anything; remember, I woke up this way. I didn't have any liquid benadryl, and we needed to get ready to leave for church. So, I took a shower, and that helped some, and within a couple hours, it stopped. Now, today, Monday, it's starting all over again. I was reading that sometimes ketosis can cause itching because of the ketones in the sweat. So maybe that. I don't know. Has anyone experienced this? My RNY was May 1.
  12. Honestly, only you and your doctor can answer that question. Have you raised your concerns with him/her?

    Milk?

Depends on your program. I could have milk on mine.

Awesome. I'm glad things are going well. I don't think you could drink too much. There are days I get to 80 oz of fluids. Make sure you're measuring your puree to whatever amount your team says. For me, I could have 4 oz. That should take 30ish minutes to eat. If I didn't finish in 30 minutes, I had to stop eating. Your program may be different. The point of measuring is it can be hard to recognize your restrictions at this stage. Best.

    Starting whole pills

    My applesauce is sugar free.
  16. I can start taking pills tomorrow. Do I need to wait to eat or drink like you would food? How many can I take at one sitting? Thanks!

What does a typical day look like for you in terms of food or liquid (not sure what stage you're in)?
  18. I've lost 20 since surgery (4 weeks) and 15 lbs during the preop diet for a total of 35 pounds. That's about what you lost, right? I stalled around 2.5 weeks in that lasted well over a week. Hang in there. It will come off. And like someone said, make sure you're tracking everything, and I'll go farther and say, before you ever eat it. What if you focused on some nonscale victories. For me it was a smaller size piece of clothing or getting my shoes on without huffing and puffing. Just today, I put on a shirt that didn't fit prior to surgery. Your body is doing a lot of behind the scenes work that may not be reflected on the scale.< br>This is not an easy process, and you don't have to do it alone.
  19. I pondered that question for months. I have GERD and didn't want to risk it getting worse, so I chose the bypass. Because I knew I didn't want a revision surgery, it was easy for me to make the choice once got past the idea of dumping syndrome. Each surgery comes with its list of pros and cons, it comes down to what you're willing to live with.
  20. I'm sorry you're struggling. I'm not that far into the journey. However, I would go back to basics. Protein, fluids, and track EVERYTHING. Do you still have access to your dietitian? I'm sure others will have great advice as well.
  21. Dinner went well. I had about a tablespoon, maybe a bit more, of salmon and about a tablesoon of mashed potatoes. My intention was to have the broccoli instead, but it wasn't soft enough. I should have requested them to cook it longer; I will know for next time. Hubs let me choose what meal I wanted, and he ate the rest. It was so nice to go out. The funny bit was that the people sitting next to us kept staring. I think they were worried, lol. How do you navigate people who don't know why we eat like we do; especially in the early months.

Something cozy to wear. I was so cold. Not sure if that'll translate now that it's warmer. Honestly, I slept most the time, and if I wasn't sleeping, then I was drinking or walking. Depending on how long you're in the hospital, toiletries will be needed. Music is nice, so headphone. And don't forget your phone charger.
  23. He is so great. He told me to order what I could eat and that'd be fine with him. When I'm eat more normally for my new stomach, we'll get our own dinners...maybe.
  24. We are definitely sharing the meal.
