It's not the end of the world. Just make sure you stick to your plan moving forward. I know it can be hard to push through cravings or years of eating a certain way. For me, I have to be mindful about everything that I eat. During the first year, we are setting ourselves up for what the rest of our lives will look like in terms of diet and exercise. It's important to instill in ourselves these principles and make those our new normal. With that said, please give yourself some grace. We all mess up sometimes.
-
How soon after surgery did you eat out? Not just soup, but a "normal" meal. Obviously, in a small, appropriate portion.

I was thinking the same thing about going to the pastor for counseling. However, you also said you're very involved in your church, and I know from experience that it can be hard to admit there is something going on. So perhaps, maybe there is another church that you could seek counseling from if y'all are not wanting to share with your own house. Just a thought. Also, Focus on the Family has great resources for counseling, advice and articles. I know your head is still reeling from this. And I think you are very wise to wait until emotions calm down to talk. Many prayer for you all.

My instructions says to thin the oatmeal out with milk. I can also have thinned cream of wheat. It crazy how different each program is.
-
I would say if it's soft, easy to chew, and moist the turkey sausage is totally fine. However, each program may have different criteria of what is considered "soft food". Congrats on your loss so far, that's great! I'm by no means an expert on stalls. I just keep reading, stick to the program. It'll break soon enough.
-
I can put away a whole egg too. Depending on what it is I can eat about 2-4oz. I'm about 5 weeks as well.. As far as breakfast. What about turkey sausage, oatmeal with protein powder, or yogurt. I'm still mostly drinking my breakfast.

I found tuna has a lot of protein. You can add unflavored protein to anything liquid or pureed. If you are set on foods for protein, set a timer and not wait until you're hungry.

I'm so sorry that happened. And I know how much hurtful words from your spouse can really shake one at their core. Could you find a marriage counselor who does online video calls? I think therapy is the only viable option to get to the root of what's going on. Or maybe a bariatric surgery support group for partners. Someone had mentioned that he may feel threatened by your weight loss. That is not an uncommon problem; especially if the partner is insecure. Maybe try to build up his security. Men normally respond to verbal praise. For example, in the first few weeks after my surgery, my husband was a very grumpy person to be around. When I commented on it, he blew up and said how overwhelmed he felt with work, taking care of a large portion of the home responsibilities, that it's been all about me and my recovery, and a few other things. I took some time to process, and in the right timing, I thanked him for all he's doing and told him that it did not go unnoticed. I reassured him and built him back up. Since then, things have been going really well. Your therapist may have some other ideas.

Surgeon suggested bypass instead of sleeve.

As far as cooking. Most recipes can be modified to fit our diets. Please continue to enjoy cooking and your beautiful cookbooks. Eating after surgery and healed doesn't have to be bland and boring. -

Terrible shocking pains, please tell me it gets better!
LindsayT replied to 60togo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it with all liquids, hot and cold? Sometimes, warmer liquids feel better going down. If it doesn't get better, maybe contact your team. In my experience if I drink colder liquids and lay down, I get some pain where you described. -
What are some good high protein snacks for soft food stage? I'd like to start moving away from protein drinks. Thanks!
-
That's rough. Have you explained to him what our diet looks like? I feel like all I do ALL DAY is eat and drink.

It started yesterday (Sunday). I woke up, and my palms were super itchy. Within 20 minutes, my arms and armpits started. And it spread to the rest of my body. I then started to get red bumps. I immediately thought I'm having an allergic reaction to something. Only I hadn't ingested anything or touched anything; remember, I woke up this way. I didn't have any liquid benadryl, and we needed to get ready to leave for church. So, I took a shower, and that helped some, and within a couple hours, it stopped. Now, today, Monday, it's starting all over again. I was reading that sometimes ketosis can cause itching because of the ketones in the sweat. So maybe that. I don't know. Has anyone experienced this? My RNY was May 1.

Nutcracker Esophagus/spasms

Honestly, only you and your doctor can answer that question. Have you raised your concerns with him/her? -
Depends on your program. I could have milk on mine.

Awesome. I'm glad things are going well. I don't think you could drink too much. There are days I get to 80 oz of fluids. Make sure you're measuring your puree to whatever amount your team says. For me, I could have 4 oz. That should take 30ish minutes to eat. If I didn't finish in 30 minutes, I had to stop eating. Your program may be different. The point of measuring is it can be hard to recognize your restrictions at this stage. Best.

My applesauce is sugar free.

I can start taking pills tomorrow. Do I need to wait to eat or drink like you would food? How many can I take at one sitting? Thanks!

What does a typical day look like for you in terms of food or liquid (not sure what stage you're in)?

I Am Not Really Seeing The Weight Loss I Was Expecting
LindsayT replied to Hey Man's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've lost 20 since surgery (4 weeks) and 15 lbs during the preop diet for a total of 35 pounds. That's about what you lost, right? I stalled around 2.5 weeks in that lasted well over a week. Hang in there. It will come off. And like someone said, make sure you're tracking everything, and I'll go farther and say, before you ever eat it. What if you focused on some nonscale victories. For me it was a smaller size piece of clothing or getting my shoes on without huffing and puffing. Just today, I put on a shirt that didn't fit prior to surgery. Your body is doing a lot of behind the scenes work that may not be reflected on the scale.< br>This is not an easy process, and you don't have to do it alone. -
Nervous about gastric sleeve
LindsayT replied to Breezy_'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I pondered that question for months. I have GERD and didn't want to risk it getting worse, so I chose the bypass. Because I knew I didn't want a revision surgery, it was easy for me to make the choice once got past the idea of dumping syndrome. Each surgery comes with its list of pros and cons, it comes down to what you're willing to live with. -
My weight loss surgery story
LindsayT replied to cmoore09's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm sorry you're struggling. I'm not that far into the journey. However, I would go back to basics. Protein, fluids, and track EVERYTHING. Do you still have access to your dietitian? I'm sure others will have great advice as well.
