I definitely do a protein supplement in the morning. I've tried eating a few time in the AM, but it upsets my stomach. -
How long is a protein supplement needed

Right now, I can MAYBE get in 2oz of protein per meal. I'm required 70+g per day. -
Regret’s not mentally ready.

The beginning is definitely hard. Make sure you're meeting your protein goals to help with hunger and healing. Do you have someone who can help you with cooking during the early stages? This was a huge help for me, especially during the liquid stage. Enough food was made that my family could have dinner and the leftovers again for lunch. Are there easier options for you to feed your family, pre made meals from the grocery? I promise your family will be fine for a few weeks with an alternative way of eating. During the liquid stage, I would eat away from my family because it was hard to be around food. Puree and soft food 5 a bit easier, and my family would eat a normal version of what I was making for myself. It definitely takes A LOT of planning. I will echo what others have said: please stick to your plan, therapy is important if you're struggling, and it will get easier. Hang in there, you got this! -
You got this! It's a process. A marathon. But it's totally worth it. I'm almost 8 weeks since having surgery, so the post op stuff is still really fresh. Even now, I would do it all again.

The post-op acne had started. My skin is fickle to begin with, and I've worked so hard with my dermatologist to clear up my hormonal acne and now.... [emoji24] Please tell me it gets better.

NOOOO!!! My poor face.

I have definitely had the odd hot flash. It feels like I'm going to externally combust. Not a comfortable feeling. -
Yep, I get it. My team recommended adding herbs and spices (not overly spicy) to my puree and soft foods so they were more enjoyable. Are you allowed to do that?

Eating Too Fast
LindsayT replied to momof2cutekidz's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's crazy that 1/4-1/2 cup of food should take about 30 minutes to eat. I too am/was a fast eater. Old habit are hard to break. -

I've been getting some periods of be extremely hot and then extremely cold. I would think with increased estrogen it would make hot flashes go away. Maybe our bodies are just having a hard time regulating our temperatures -
Eating Too Fast

It is pretty awful. I have dumped once and it was on the applesauce I had used to take the omeprazole. I think I drank too soon after taking it. The applesauce sauce was no sugar added too. So who knows. We'll get the hang of it! -
Eating Too Fast

For me, I usually know within a bit or 2 if a food will upset my stomach. It's bizarre. You find that happens to you too? -
Eating Too Fast
LindsayT replied to momof2cutekidz's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You gotta take your time. Five week out (7 weeks for me), we're still learning our new eating habits and what we can tolerate. It's definitely a learning experience. I measure everything - about a quarter cup. I know I can comfortably eat that, so if I do eat too fast, I know I should be okay as far as feeling too full. If I'm still hungry after that, I'll eat a bit more and take my time. Another thing is to CHEW everything as much as you can. I have found that if i dont chew well, I 1. Get full too fast and 2. My stomach is super unhappy. Being over full or stomach upset is miserable after wls. I have learned the stomach is boss. Hopefully, that improves as time goes on. -
I'm craving something crunchy. I'm not allowed raw vegetables yet. What are some good alternative options?
-
So I bought roasted chickpeas and roasted edamame. I tolerated them both really well. They are nice because they chew to a very small consistency. My only complaint is that it makes me thirsty because they are so dry. They satisfy the crunch craving, and I get protein and fiber, so win. Thanks for all the suggestions! Keep them coming if anyone has other ideas.

Great! Thanks!

I guess I have some homework.

I've never had roasted chickpeas. Recommendations on brand or flavor

They did mine the day of surgery. I don't smoke or vape.

That's so exciting. Congrats!

Any suggestions on baby food flavors

I'm sorry. 2.5 oz of real chicken breast is 22 g of protein. -

Read the labels. 2.5 oz of baby food chicken has just over 8 g of protein whereas 2.5 oz of real chicken breast has 16 g of protein. The nutritional count is not the same. When everything you put in your stomach matters, this is important. If you don't want to use your ninja, which I get, it's loud, bulky, and unfun to clean. Get a stick blender. It's quieter and easier to clean. -
You can get a card from your doctor, Amazon or Bariatric Pal that says that have to allow you to order from the kids menu, share with someone or order smaller portions.

I satisfied my sushi craving! I got some salmon sashimi. So yummy.

How long after surgery did you wait to have sushi (minus the rice). The head hunger is real.
