    Help - Restriction

hi there You really need to evaluate your weight loss and how you're feeling. No Doc should give you more if you are losing at least 2 lbs a week.
  3. i had horrible reflux before surgery and was taking acephex for at least 1 year. Since the surgery a miracle has happened and I have taken one acephex. My surgery was on Aug.5,2008/ Today I got my 2nd fill and I am delighted to say that I am down 53 lbs. Good luck

    hair loss?

I just started to notice that my hair started to fall out about a week ago. Went for my 2nd fill today. Dr. said I am not eating enough. He suggested I consult with the nutritionist, but suggested I drink a shake in the morning, but just the thought of it makes me sick. Any good breakfast bar suggestions with high protein?
  5. I would love to attend. Please let me know the details as soon as you do. I assume you want something in North Jersey. May I suggest the Marriot on Rt 4 w which is in Fair Lawn, Nj. Very easy acess to nyc.
  6. bigpapa I feel the same way as you. I had surger on Aug 5 and have lost exactly 50 lbs. I know it will slow down, but am it has come off so fast. I guess we just need to be optomistic and realistic as well. I have only had one fill due to healing problems, and I feel no restriction, but with all the horror stories I read about on thsi website, I wouldn't dare experiment with my food. Wishing you all the best on your journey!

    Can't find the port?

wow how great it is to know that I am not alone with this. I just had my first fill today. I was banded on Aug. 5th , but because I had a huge bruise under the major incision, my fill was rescheduled from Sept. 15th today. I had to lay on the table for at least 30 minutes (it seemed forever) because my Doc. had a very hard time finding my port due to all the scar tissue that formed due to my problem healing. He does not use anything and I was about ready to go to the hospital to have it done. We worked together (I calmed down) and he finally found it. I will wait 6 weeks before I go back. I think I will continue to be very strict with what I eat so that maybe I could avoid getting poked again. And here I thought I was through with the pain and anxiety. I guess I should look at the good part ..I am down exactly 40 lbs. thanks for reading.
  8. hi there; I too had some healing problems with my big incision. Unfortunatly, mine had to be drained in the Drs. office. Talk about uncomfortable. I am finally scheduled for my first fill on the 6th; I can hardly wait. My scar is sunkin and somewhat on the black side nice huh? I guess my bikini days are over!lol

    Confused

hi there. the frst 6 weeks pure willpower. A single can of tuna,or even two at a time , is a much better choice than something full of fat or sugar. Good luck to you. Some advice: eat 4 spoonfulls and then ask yourself, am I still hungry? Do I still need to eat right now? Maybe I'll walk away and in 10 minutes, if I still want to eat,go ahead.
  10. be patient; it took me a good month to feel totally back to myself. I remember going for a walk two days after surger; I felt like a very old lady. Once you start eating mushy food, you'll feel so much better.
  11. i can really relate to getting lost in my food. Eating is no longer a comfort and it certainly is NOT my friend. I am so proud of my decision to have the lap band and a look forward to my first fill.
  12. I know how u feel;hang in there. You are very brave to have this surgery and let the "policeman" inside you help. Take things slowly; one day at a time and... please try not to weigh yourself so often. You will be much healthier soon. Good Luck

I can't get over this hump

i never heard of this bandster hell that you mention; very interesting. I didn't know this was the process; I fit right into this catigory. Thank you for this. Any suggestions as to where I might find more support with this issue?
  15. thank you for your concern I am feeling fine although I am very interested to know how it feels to be not able to "eat another bite" because you are sooooo full. My fill had to be rescheduled for the beginning of October because of my problem. I recently saw the Dr., and he didn't seem concerned at all. He said I was healing fine. I have to try to take his word for it because he has been doing these surgery's for 30 years. I did get upset when he said that he had never had this problem before (lucky me). I am down 26 lbs (sticking to the diet plan regardless)
  16. Hi I was wondering if anyone out there has had problems healing. I had a terrible reaction to the shot of blood thinner that I got right before my surgery. Since then, I have been black and blue and even expelling some blood at times. One week after surgery (Aug. 5) I had to get my insicion drained in the Dr's office (not a pleasant experience to say the least). Everytime I go to get it checked the Drs. assure me that it is just taking a while for me to heal. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm afraid that I will not be able to get my first scheduled fill on Sept. 15, because I will not be fully healed. My husband thinks I should ask to have an ultrasound to make sure everything is ok. Any suggestions? I would feel so much better if I heard from people who have had similar problems. Thanks
  17. hi there I remember how great it was to finally eat something. Towards the end those shakes really started to get to me. I havn't been able to drink another since I started eating (had procedure on Aug. 5). Good luck to you

New to Lap Band and forums:)

hi I too thought I wouldn't be hungry. I had my procedure done on Aug.5. I asked the nutitionist about this and she suggested I was hungry in my thoughts. I know the difference, I was and still am HUNGRY. Just drink a lot and stick to the shakes, I lost a 24 lbs after the first 2 weeks, but havn't lost any more now that I am eating food. Don't worry about it, I was told once you get a "fill" thats when things happen. Good luck

New to Lap Band and forums:)

hi there, this is my first posting. I had my surgery on Aug. 5 and have lost 25 lbs. My Dr. is Dr. Ibraham from Englewood Hospital, Englewood, NJ. I am a teacher and am a little nervous about going back to school, becasue there are some days that I have a lot of energy and other days that I feel rather sluggish. I am still healing from the surgery. Unfortunately, I had a lot of swelling that the Dr. seems to feel was from the shot of blood thinner that I received before the procedure. I had some drainedge (sp) from the incision and had to have it asperated in the Drs. office. Since then, it still bleeds slightly after showering. Anyone else have this problem; I really feel all alone and am concerned that I won't be able to get an adjustment on Sept. 15, because it may not be healed. I am really hungry and feel that I have absolutely no restriction. The Dr. ordered me to eat more liberally and to not weigh myself; the real weight loss begins when you get adjusted. Any comments? I would really appreciate hearing from you.
