    Friday Weigh In - 4 NOV 08

Last week: 204 This week: 203 I could definitely be doing better. I've got some head games to get over.

    Friday weigh in October 31

Up 2.5 pounds this week: Last week: 201.5 This week: 204 For all the normal reasons - bad eating choices, lack of exercise. My fill isn't getting me anywhere, and I don't have another until December. And now it gets hard...
  3. Hi all, As I'm trying to limit my intake (pre-fill and post-vacation-with-overeating), I was curious what the typical August bander is eating these days. Most of us are in regular foods now, I think. Would you share a typical day of eating? Me today: Breakfast - Yogurt 4oz., cheese stick, Mott's pomegranate sauce (little container) lunch - Vegetarian chili, 1 cup; sugar-free Jello pudding cup Snack - SF Jello pudding cup, 5 cashews dinner - Tuna casserole, 1 cup Total calories today: 950 or so I know I'm still eating too much at a sitting (like at lunch). Some of this is definitely not hunger eating!

    Friday weigh in october 24

Everyone's having a pretty good week, I see. No gains so far, yippee! This was fill week on the backside of the retreat weekend filled with food (and I do mean every moment - retreat folks were making a lot of jokes about the overabundance of food!), so I suppose those two things cancelled each other out. Last week - 204 This week - 201.5 I hopped on yesterday and was 199.5, so I got to live an entire day in onederland before climbing back in to the 200's. Sigh. Exercise is good - walking when my daughter is doing choir or dance, going to the Y about once a week for treadmill/elliptical, working out at home the other times with On Demand workouts.

How much so far - total?

I feel much better, too! Surgery to now: 237-201.5 = 35.5 lbs lost; went from a size 22 to a size 18 so far

    Confessing, Then Moving On

Jeannie, If you are looking to jump start some weight loss, how about measuring your quantities for a while? I try to eat less than a cup of food (well, I try to eat 1/2 cup, but when I eat out, it always ends up being more than that). You might find 'not a lot of food' is more than you think. Or not, of course!

    About freakin' time!!!!

I did have my first fill - 3 cc's in a 14cc band. Very uneventful, but restriction remains to be seen. I'm worried about having to take small bites, I've gotten away with no eating changes in that regard up to now. Well, I guess it's time to change the habit...

    About freakin' time!!!!

I'm going in this morning to the doctor - I think I'll have my first fill, but who knows. I can't wait till the conversation on my food diary after three days on a church retreat. My goodness, the food, the Snacks - unreal! So are the ones getting a fill today the last ones to get one? It sure feels that way.
  9. Hi all, I'm starting this thread a day early because I'm going on retreat this weekend and I wanted to weigh in... Last week 204 This week 204 Numbers are deceiving things - this is actually the end of a long week of catch up after I went hog wild on sweets the first part of the week. Man, I just cannot handle sugar! I went up three pounds, then got TOM, and back now to where I started. Roller coaster of a week, for sure.

Friday morning weigh in...10 oct 08

Yowza, a good weight loss and exercise week, but I'm getting sugar cravings like mad (and giving in). I felt better when I was cold turkey; I don't think I do sugar in moderation. Anyway, Last week 207 This week 204

    Having a rough Time

Liquidblue, I *totally* get the overwhelmed thing. As a full-time homeschooler, part-time employee, and the person who is supposed to cook and clean the house, I know there is no time for all of it. I find myself saying, "Well, I could exercise or I could cook dinner. I could exercise or I could go to the grocery store. I can't do both." This is the reality of my life. I could get up earlier, but that would make me miserable and cranky. I don't want to be miserable and cranky. I can give you tips, but what I most want to give you is sympathy. It's no fun wearing many hats. I'm sorry you have to work all the time. That can be debilitating for sure. So what to do? I kind of bargained with the hubby (we didn't really talk about it, but the surgery made this clear) that I needed to focus on myself this year. Why have the surgery otherwise? So when it has to be decided if I take the kids to their stuff or exercise, more and more I'm choosing to exercise. I don't get to do it as often as I like, but I'm letting something else go so I can squeeze it in more. I try to let different things go - at-home work stuff one day, laundry another day, grocery shopping another day. It has that "nothing is done right" feeling about it, but I'm learning to live with it. I eat ready-made stuff a lot. Little tins of tuna are my friends. As are cheese, canned Beans, applesauce, and yogurt. I eat what's easy. The kids also get what's easy a lot, which doesn't add up to great meals all the time, but hey, they can survive it for a year. I hope some of this helps. It may not help at all - other people's advice often doesn't. If I remember right, you just got back from a trip to Vegas (yes?), and I am at my lowest and most harried right after a vacation. Maybe tomorrow will give you some breathing room in which you can take stock (and maybe decide to let go of some activities?). I hope so.

    What won't you miss?

What I won't miss: *Hating going shopping for clothes for myself *Sweltering by the side of the pool while the kids swim because there is no way I'm wearing a bathing suit *Lack of energy *Pre-diabetes sugar levels

    Bad eating day

Bad eating day, very bad. Think funnel cake, think snickerdoodles. Bad.

    Bad eating day

Thanks guys. I'm feeling better today. I do set the bar pretty high for myself, and I don't like the way I feel when I eat junk. Of course, that doesn't stop me from eating it... Anyway, I'm working it out today, moving on.

    3.10.08 friday morning weigh in.

Good week so far, everyone. Smsmithart, good luck overcoming this setback, you can do it. I had gained three last week after a trip to California. I lost it back plus an extra pound, trying to eat smaller quantities and exercising a lot with the On Demand cable channel. Someday I want to get into an aerobics class, but need to slim down some first! Last week - 211 This week - 207 Back on track, baby!

    Three meals-or snacks as well?

I think it depends on the definition of snack. I'm just eating when I'm hungry (on good days), which happens to be every three hours (pre fill). This takes me up to four meals a day, or three meals and a snack. I would love to make it to four hours between meals, but when I say hungry, I do mean hungry!

    Alittle Nevous

Nervous is very natural before surgery! Have confidence in your surgeon, think of the great life-changing choice you've made, and be happy! Good luck.
  18. Sorry to be so long answering - I just caught sight of this message today! I am indeed a homeschool mom in Maryland, though this is only our fifth year, and my daughter is in 2nd grade (son in 7th) so I have a ways to go yet! I love the life, but it is tough being within easy reach of the kitchen all day.

Thanks for the congrats - I really hope this will work for me this time, as I have failed at *many* diets in the best. Best of luck to you!

    Nervous, questioning, not sure...

Good luck in your search for answers, I hope it works out for you. I'll tell you that I was miles away from considering something as drastic as surgery, until at a doctor's visit one time, I was just so depressed and fed up, I worked up the courage to ask (meekly) if I was a candidate for surgery. It's working for me so far, but it is a scary thing to consider, so take your time, research, and weigh the pros and cons!
  20. I agree what with others have said, but I wanted to chime in and say what a bummer! I got a sore throat a couple of days before surgery, and was so worried it was going to go into a full-blown cold. My paperwork said they might delay surgery in the case of illness (for my own well-being, which I appreciate). The problem was I had flown my mom out to help me for a week, would have had to wait months to find another good time to do it - the thought of delay just made me cry in frustration. I ended up being okay, but it was hard for a couple of days. Hope you make it through okay!

    Friday weigh in 26 september.

Got back from a week at the parents', trip to Disneyland, much eating out, result? 3 pound gain! I'm not beating myself up, however, I'm back on track today, just working hard up to my first fill later this month.

Friday morning weigh in...19 sep 08

Good morning everyone, Love to see the positive posts this morning - at a time when many of us still haven't had a fill! I don't go for mine until Oct. 20 (a good two months from my date of surgery), but I figure that just gives me time to adjust to this new way of eating for a bit. Weight last week: 210 Weight this week: 208.5 Exercise: About 40 minutes on treadmill/Walk Away the Pounds, 4x this week Food: Eating about 1 cup, supposed to be every four hours, but feel hungry about every three hours. Averaging around 1100 calories a day. I still don't see how to bump up calories without eating more at a sitting or eating more often.

    Calcium Carbonate v Calcium Citrate

I take Calcium Citrate - did you know you can buy it in chewable form? I ask because it sounds like you've got something dissolvable. Twin Labs makes some, which I got at my local health food store and my local pharmacy.

    Anyone had a PB yet?

I'm so afraid of this... And yet a funny thing happened at church this morning. I'm on my last days of mushies, been very careful about not eating chunky food, and what do I do? Mindlessly get in line at communion, take a huge chunk of challah bread the pastor hands me, and chew it about four times and swallow! It wasn't until I did it that I went "Oh, man, what did I just do?" Bread, white bread, practically no chewing. Oh, man! Fortunately, it went down. My stomach seemed a little worried for a minute, but it was okay. I can't believe I was so mindless!
