Hey had my surgery 2/14 and am trying to find good movie snacks that are fine after bariatric. I am not trying to "regular " snack just for when I go to the movies to deter me from getting popcorn or soda. I have found a few recipes online but am wondering if anyone has insight. My bypass surgery was 2/14 and I thought my hunger was supposed to supress after surgery but I am always hungry. And before you say it not head hungry. I know what that is like. I am talking real hunger. The kind where I just want food... any food. Unfortunately when it comes to meals I still can only take about 4 bites before I am full... momentarily. Then an hour or so later I am back to being hungry. What gives? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Hungry...all the time
Kris Poole replied to Kris Poole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Basically all I eat is protein lol. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
I am not trying to mindlessly eat. My mother and I occasionally have movie days where we will see 2-3 movies back to back. I eventually get hungry and also have some medicine I have to take with food. I have been muddling through with a hotdog no bun and still only eat half. Also I typically stick to ice water so I can crunch ice. I was looking at potentially making like salami chips or roasted chickpeas or something of that nature. I was simply looking for a suggestion of something I could take in my purse with me that didn't need a refrigerator or to be heated to enjoy when I do get hungry. I feel like I should've lost more by now. I had my surgery 2/14 and have only lost like 40lbs. Should I be further? I'm worried it hasn't worked Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Still hurting like noone's business. I feel like I can't even twist enough to wipe properly without shedding a tear. Please tell me the pain gets better fast... Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Has anyone had pre-op panic attacks? I know there is a certain level of anxiety associated with any surgery but I am about to start my 2 week pre-surgery liquid diet and I am having full blown panic attacks. I have had panic attacks in the past about other things just wondering if this level of anxiety is normal or crazy. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

No more citrus ever?
Kris Poole replied to bookpusher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a sucker for a cara cara orange and I am always the person who uses lemon juice to deglaze everything! I have been severely missing the deglazing especially cuz the pop of citrus is just me in a nut shell. I have been following my docs rules to a T which says no citrus until 3 months and I have been trying to track down the reason why to see if I can maybe just incorporate it into my cooking. Not sure if I should give it a whirl or not. Doesn't add that many calories. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Thanks appreciated. Having a tough time meeting protein goals but trying my best. Today I start my 3rd week diet where I can finally have eggs and possibly tofu (if I can stomach it [emoji38]) so hopefully a turning point on the protein. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

25 gram Protein yogurt: Ratio
Kris Poole replied to Jonathan Carlson's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am past the liquid phase and have been totally failing on my protein goals. It's actually been hard for me to eat and drink period. Long story but I'm totally weak and falling asleep all the time. I can't stand Greek yogurt. It tastes like eating sour cream to me but I will give this a whirl since someone said it doesn't really taste like a typical Greek yogurt. Thanks for sharing. Eeesh sorry about that. It's hard for me to get up and do a whole lot as well as I had bypass while already having a broken ankle. This makes getting any exercise in very difficult. I have taken to trying to do exercises that I can do from the bed. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm learning now that I have had the surgery I am already having a few issues among them both of the things you just mentioned. These issues are only an issue if they go for an extended time not for a week or two. That can be overcome/ combatted with assistance. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes I got pain meds when I left and even though the glue is lifting at the edges I am consciously working not to pick at them. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I just had gastric bypass on 2/14 and have had weight problems all my life just like you. I was extremely self conscious for a long time about mentioning that I was considering wls to anyone for a long time because I was afraid of the judgment and stigma that surround it. Having support is invaluable. I would particularly point out your comorbitidies and how this surgery could help them. There are many patients that have completely stopped having to take any medications for diabetes and even put it into remission. Also if you look into the history of the gastric bypass it was originally a procedure that was used to assist people with gerd and gastric reflux to get rid of these issues and it just happened to have the side effect of weight loss. The more informed and logical on your approach would be the route I would go in getting her on board. Good luck! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

So afraid I will start picking lol. I have those ocd tendancies too lol And yeah I am feeling a bit better. Twisting is still a pain but bit by bit it is getting better just slowly. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Low Energy Levels after bypass?
Kris Poole replied to AmPriSi's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You have to remember it isn't minor surgery it is MAJOR surgery. Healing is way more complex than the few incisions you see on your stomach so don't be down on yourself if you need rest to heal. Listen to your body and it will guide you on what you need. Me personally, I haven't been able to sleep at night but I am an oddity. Then yesterday I randomly slept 20 out of 24 hours? Who even knows [emoji38]. I had my surgery on 2/14 btw. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

My newest development is now not liking my chicken broth that I made before surgery to be ready. I pre-seasoned and strained and loved it on the liquid diet pre-op but now it's gross to me... kinda sucks. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Pureed diet need new ideas

Not all baby food. Beechnut Just Naturals are good depending on the flavor. Their strawberry, guava, banana is really good. Used to use it for smoothies lol Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
You may want to try some Miralax. Throwing up is no good for anyone but especially someone just out of surgery. I managed to on the 16th but I typically have IBS and haven't been taking that med so it didn't stop me up on purpose. Side question how were y'alls incisions closed. Mine were super glued lol and it's starting to fall off. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I got one of those but haven't tried it yet. Have you tried it at night at all? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Mine surprisingly isn't so much the gas. That's what I expected but anytime I try to lay on my side it feels like my organs are trying to fall out. This especially happens if I try to lay on my left. And of course it also hurts when I go to swallow anything. The swallowing is more of a pressure than pain per say. Neck is in shambles though cuz I am a side sleeper and now can't because of the pain. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

BTW never heard of that. That's different for sure. We had these horrendous shakes we were supposed to drink 5 days out called Nestle Advanced Recovery. Made me gag soooo bad. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
