    Hello All!

Hello Chanta31, My daughter is also 22. I am proud to say she was banded today! She lost 16 pounds on her pre-op diet!
  3. Eat on small plate with 1/4 of plate protein, 1/2 of plate veggie, and 1/4 of plate starch/fiber is a good start. Low Fat Mayo, or Low Fat Margarine - 1 tablespoon is about the size of the end of your thumb, 3-4 ounces of protein about the size of your palm, 1/2 cup is about the size of your cupped hand. Our you can buy a food scale and lots of measuring spoons and measuring cups like I did. I learned these tricks in weight watchers. Good luck to you! www.fit.com is a great way to track your food, calorie intake, and nutrition.
  4. Don't know how this happended to double.

    Explain your name on LBT...

I know I am boring because I used my first name and my last name initial. There are so many Mary's in the world I have been called everything from Mary Ann to Mary Sue. I like Mary B the best, so that is me! I never had a nickname...except my niece and father-in-law called me Murney...but it didn't stick. Oh and I am the _itch of the family, so that fits too with the Maryb

    Why can't I lose!!!!!!

You are doing great! I have to count calories, protein grams, and fibers to get the results I want. Too little I don't lose, too much I don't lose. I do agree that you should serve yourself and your family the same thing. Just alter the recipe to be healthier and eat yours on a small plate. Keep up the good work.

My daughter did great! She lost 16 pounds on the Pre-op diet. Dr. Collier said her liver looked young and healthy and everything went perfectly. She was in pain when I met her in the step down room, but she really didn't complain about it. I got her home by 3:00pm and she went straight to bed. She got up a few minutes ago and drank some juice, walked around a bit, then went back to bed. I got my 2nd fill while she was in surgery. My first fill three weeks ago and was 1.2cc. There was only .5cc that was still in my band today. I ended up today with 1cc. She said I was one of those that didn't need much to be restricted. I drank my shakes only today and could definately fill the restriction.

Fruit is also a good source of fiber. I love Strawberries and Blueberries.

gellergirl, Fiber cancels out carbs, so you don't have to worry about the carbs. I like Weight Control Oatmeal Cinnamon. Low in sugar and high in Protein and Fiber. I was using Benefiber Chewable, but when I ran out I bought Fiber Choice Orange Chewable which had more fiber in 2 tablets instead of 3. I also bought some Kellogg's All-Bran with extra fiber. 1/2 cup is only 50 calories and has 13 grams of fiber and 20 carbs. I put 1/2 Skim Milk and let soak a little for a bit, then add blueberries and splenda. I thought it tasted very good. All Bran Cereal Bar Honey Oat tastes good and is 5 grams of fiber.

gellergirl, did you use the weight goal planner of Fit.com. It will tell you how many calories you need to each day to reach your target goal in a set time. I am 5' 4", small boned, and bmi under 40. I also don't exercise, so I try to stay between 1000 and 1200 calories. If you are taller, and/or larger frame, and/or exercise you can eat more calories. You are doing great on your Proteins, but you should try to get at least 25 grams of fiber a day to keep you regular.

    Parents of Adhd Children

My daughter begged me to home school her. I refused because I didn't feel like I was qualified to teach her, and I thought I might end up killing her. I just didn't have the patience. Public school is required to provide a safe environment and proper education to fit each child... of course you have to fight for these things! I never thought my daughter would graduate with her peers, but she did. My daughter was under 504. We had ARD meetings to discuss recommended help. She would go to a STAR Lab for tests and extra help, and she had two sets of books.

    Filing Bankruptcy...Need Some Support

Emily, You are not a failure! It is tough raising children without support! I too was in your shoes. You shouldn't have to file bankruptcy for only $21,000 in credit card debit. It may take time, but you can get it paid off. If you can, stop using credit cards. Try to pay by cash or check only. This should keep you from impulse buying. A budget is very important even if you can't stick to it 100%, you will at least have a plan. On your debit make sure you are paying at enough to cover the interest being charged each month plus some of the principle. Let me know how it goes.

    Parents of Adhd Children

I feel for you Plunder Bunny! My daughter was labeled ADD but none of the medications helped her with her school work. What did help her mentally was Zoloft. She was so depressed from teachers yelling at her, students being mean to her, and her best friend dumping her. I also took her to a counselor for 2 years starting in the 6th grade that was an hour away from our home. The 2 hours driving her back and forth gave us needed alone time to talk one on one. This was the hardest time in my life, but has turned out to be a blessing. We are very very close because of this and she is a sweet happy 20 year old now.

    I need a shoulder

This my sound dumb, but here goes. Just getting banded won't make you lose weight. You have to journal your food, count your calories, drink your water, and exercise to lose weight. The band helps us to stay in control with our portions, curb our cravings, and change our lifestyle. Starving ourselves doesn't work either because it shuts down our metabolism. We need 3 balanced meals and one snack a day to boost our metabolism. If you need some accountability, start posting your food journal on the food journal thread. This helps me tremendously! I am not perfect, but I have consistantly lost 1 to 2 pounds per week without exercise. Just think what I could do if I moved my butt more.

Back from a week in FL

I randomly Pb. Usually when I least expect it. I had my first fill 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I am having my second fill tomorrow. I can tell I need one because I am able to eat faster. My last PB was Saturday afternoon after taking a nap. I only ate 1/2 my lunch so I decided to finish it later. Same food didn't make me PB at lunch, but after a nap made me PB. I was having a lot of gas pain after drinking water before my nap. Maybe the gas had something to do with it.

    Have major regrets? I do

I am sorry you haven't had the weight loss you desire. What I have found, which is a blessing for me, is that I don't have those uncontrolable cravings anymore. I journal my food making sure I get at least 1000 calories and no more then 1200 calories. I concentrate on 50 grams of Protein and 25 grams of fiber. No bread, and no sugar because those or binge bring-on foods for me. Someday when this becomes a natural habit for me I can stop journaling everything. Remember the band is a tool, not a miracle worker. We still have to make wise food choices.
