What kind of scale do you have? Is it accurate?
maryb replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a Health o Meter, but it was big and bulky and I had to keep resetting the darn thing. I bought a cute round glass scales from Brookestone for $100. It has a digital read-out with weight only. It looks great in my bathroom and has been consistantly accurate. I don't like anything mechanical to talk to me...I even turned off the sound on my PC because the chinging, pinging, and tadaing drove me crazy. Silence is golden to me. -
My starting BMI was 35. I was private pay because my insurance requires 2 co-morbities with BMI under 40. I have consistantly lost between 1 & 2 pounds each week since being banded.

Well I am still having trouble eating. Made a Chicken casserole dish, green beans, and mashed potatoes. Basically I could only easily get down 1/2 cup of potatoes. No matter how small the amount and how much I chewed the chicken and the green beans hurt! I am leaning toward maybe an unfill to .5cc one week before going especially if I am still not able to eat very well. I won't have the luxury of covering up my food for a hour or two then trying to eat it again like I do now.

I didn't even think about the Instant packages for shakes. Which ones are good? I have tried WW Cappicino which was good with milk. I have looked at Protein bars many times and never bought them because I am allergic to all nuts. Most have nuts and/or Peanut Butter in them. Anyone have suggestins on bars without nuts or peanut butter? I am still in KY until Wednesday. I have been here 6 days and still feeling very tight. I have to drink hot tea in the mornings to get my meds down. My mission trip starts July 7th.

Dawg, Welcome to the world that women have been dealing with their whole life. Not only does no two pair of pants the same size fit alike, but tops, bras, shoes, etc.... The problem is the inspector has an exceptable range for a size... not an exact science, and women come in all shapes and sizes. One size does not fit all!

Katt - You are feeling the same way that I am sure most of use felt pre-banding. It is a huge leap of faith! I will be praying that you are accepted, you will have no complications, and your Diabetes will disappear with your excess weight. Medications and a Sedentary life style because of physical problems can cause rapid weight gain. This happened to my best friend. She had a very successful Lap Band Surgery April 4th. Despite not being able to exercise and being on Steroids and pain meds, she has lost 24 pounds already. I have faith you can do this too.

I forgot about Laundry products: I was making my own laundry detergent for several years , but I got too busy to make it. I now use ERA. I get it at Sam's Club in a big jug with a cool pour spout. Fast and easy. I have always used Downey. I got a big jug with a cool pour spout on this one at Sam's once. I saved the jug and pour the new bottles into it now. Dishwasher Soap - it is a small square with a pearl in the middle. Can't remember if it is Cascade or Electrosol....Sam's in big container. Spray & Wash for stains

Lap Band ladies....does this make you hate your boobs??
maryb replied to MellyBelle's topic in The Gals' Room
I am 45 and was wearing a 42C Bra. I have lost 32 pounds and my boobs are swimming in a 40C Bra. I need to go buy me a 38C or B now. I don't care how small they get. If I don't like them, I will buy me some new ones or wear a padded bra. My butt has also deflated, again I will buy me one if I think I need it. I will probably need a tummy tuck anyway, so I will just get it all done at once. Even if I come out a very saggy person and don't get PS, I will be happy to be thin and healthier. -
Anyone else dreading the day when people start to notice?
maryb replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When they notice, just tell them you are on a doctor supervised diet similar to Atkins. This usually shuts people up for awhile. -
Maybe you should have screamed real loud and told everyone they flashed you!

First fill 1.1cc, didn't fill restriction until one week later. 3 weeks later 2nd fill, only had .5cc left from first fill. Filled to 1.0cc. Felt restricted immediately. Now almost 2 weeks later and still very restricted. I was told that I may never need another fill. I was also told that when I get to goal, I need to consider a complete unfill to maintain my weight.
-
I really like the Low Carb Slim Fast, but have a hard time finding it. So, I normally buy the Atkins shakes.

My foot doctor said to put Vitamin E Oil on .my foot 2 months after my foot surgery. It worked well for my foot. I haven't remembered to buy some for my Lapband scars.

Post-band I do not have the food cravings I use to have. I don't think about food all the time like before. I fill up on a small plate of food. It definately makes sticking to 1000 -1200 per day a breeze. The best thing I have learned is using Fitday.com to keep up with what I eat and make sure I get my 60 grams of Protein and 25 grams of Fiber in everyday. Never hungry and always regular! Choosing to only drink Water has been another successful thing for me. I am a recovering Diet Coke Addict. I believe this has helped tremendously with my consistant weight loss. I also choose not to eat Bread, or Sugar. These were big diet busting binge eating triggers for me before...If I don't have it, I don't want it! sugar-free Popsicles are the bomb! I love these ice cold pops! Also Soothes my sore tummy when I get the pre-PB golf ball.

I had the Hepron shot just before surgery. I am also allergic to Codeine. I was given a Prescription for Lortab which my Insurance switched to generic HydroCodone. I was told it is a synthetic and doesn't react like Codeine. I didn't have any problems taking it.

physical, EKG, Chest XRay, Blood Work Pre-op Two weeks Pre-op diet of Myocel shake 2x per day, oatmeal breakfast, lean protein and green veggie dinner.

I have to count calories, protein, & fiber. When I didn't, I felt weak and was having to use Milk of Mag to go to the bathroom. I also seem to lose weight alot easier with more calories, protein, & fiber. Of course at least 64 ounces of water per day.
-
My Doctor says for me 1000 - 1200 calories per day. I try to get in 60 grams of Protein and 25 grams of fiber. I choose to stay away from bread, and sugar. Fats and Carbs seem to take care of themselves with these two targets and calorie restrictions.

Your opinions needed: Deciding on a Goal Weight (or Range)
maryb replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I asked my primary care doc what I should try to get down to. She said between 130 and 140 because I am 5'4". Sounds good to me. -
Ireland....Have you ever seen an Ulster Fry? It is a heart attack waiting to happen! Similiar to Denny's Grand Slam breakfast except it also comes with Blood Sausage, Baked Beans, and Stewed Tomatoes. I can see why they need to run those ads!

Couldn't live without my LBT, so I am connected via Cingular Connect. Slower then my cable at home, but sure beats nothing.
