I agree with BGL Mom, do what they want and it should end in approval. I am with BCBS federal and did the supervised visits, pysch eval and provided a medical history over the last 5 years. Finished up on April 8 and got an approval letter in the mail on Saturday!!! yipppeee for me. Hoping for a date in May. Will keep you posted. kay -
HI BGL Mom, I'm in the dallas area and I'm at the end of my wait. I got an approval letter in the mail on Saturday and will be on the phone on Monday morning to see when I can get scheduled. I have BCBS, federal and did the 6 month diet/nutrition visits, pysch eval and had to submit a detailed medical history. My last appt was 4/8 and I started hounding the office middle of last week. So, it was pretty routine and I am planning on a May Banding. I'm using the Baylor system and should have my procedure at Baylor Grapevine. Dr. Matin will be my surgeon. Let me know how it goes for you. K

Just opened today's mail and there is an approval letter from my insurance! Yeah!!! I'm hoping for May also, good luck to you.

I'm throwing my sombrero into the ring, I got an approval letter in the mail today and I'll be making my surgeon appt on Monday for as soon as they can see me. I'm going to be a Mayo Bandito and I'm ready! I started looking into this process last August and if my insurance hadn't changed I would have been banded for over 3 months by now. That's ok, more time to get ready! I see I'm in excellent company and looking forward to the journey with all the other May banders! Kathi -
I got a lovely letter from BC/BS in the mail today...MY APPROVAL! You are the first to know! I'm soooo excited I can't stand it. Now if the stars will align and we can do things on my timeline, I'm hoping for a May banding! I need to visit my surgeon and probably do one last nutrition/diet dr visit for my pre op requirements (yes, I have some). I'll have much more to tell after I spend half the day on the phone on Monday. Hope your weekend is going well. Later, kathi

Thanks for the note, off for my mani/pedi (the pedi is a treat today) for my upcoming vacation to Florida. Mom and Dad's 50th Wedding anniversary and we're all heading to Orlando! Yippee, watch out Shamu, could be some competition coming! later, bg, have a relaxing weekend, AS IF!

KayVee Hi you, I think about you everyday too. I wish I was in Bandlandia, but I'm being patient, as opposed to being a patient! hehehee, i crack myself up! I did harass the office and she called insurance and was told to call back on Monday. Not no and not yes, so still waiting. Glad you are ok, well, out of the hospital at least. It seems I may be in Baltimore late August, for four weeks, I got people in Pittsburg and Morgantown, WV. Maybe we could have a sip of coffee and meet! Something to think about anyway. Take it easy and make the DK help out! (dear kids). Later, kathi

Hi, put a roll of quarters in each pocket or something! I've heard of people wearing ankle weights under their socks to 'bulk up'! You'll do fine and get through it with flying colors. Take care of yourself. kayvee

I'm with Pickly, I think you look fab and the sheets are quite a good touch. I'm pretty sure I have to do an overnight stay also, still WAITING for my date, but I"m ready. Met someone in my agency that had it done on Dec 31 and he says he only wishes he'd done it years ago! Gotta read the rest, trying to do the blogs in order. Have a restful weekend. kathi -

Ahh, my BG friend, I'm so happy for you and just a little envious, that's ok, right? I'm in San Antonio for a work trip, lots of walking and eating out, it's killing me, I can't wait to be healthier so my feet and legs don't hurt when I walk! Best of luck on Wednesday and I'll be looking so forward to hearing all about it when you are BANDED! Kathi

Well, thanks for all the great info, I sure wish my docs followed your pre op plan. My stuff should have gone in for approval, waiting now. I'll keep you posted. Rangergirl, my paperwork should have been submitted late last week, I'm not looking for anything for at least 10 days or so. After the approval, I'll get to make an appt with my Dr. and try to set my surgery date. I have a few work commitments and some personal travel to work around..oh well. The sooner the better. I'll keep you posted.

Question about your trip. I travel quite a bit for my work, hoping it will decrease soon, but what and where did you eat? I'm not telling many folks and I don't want my co-workers to catch on that i'm banded by what i'm eating. what did you order, where did you eat. I normally stay at marriotts and have a 'free' breakfast and i try to make do now with a bowl of cereal. after the band, that isn't going to work, tell me what you did! Thanks. Kathi -
Hi JA, I just starting reading your blog and I'm impressed and inspired. I'm hoping to be banded in late April or May. I haven't decided on specific timeframe goals, but I am sure I will. Keep up the good work and get ready to kiss the two hundreds good bye forever! You will do it. kathi

I can't imagine a long approval wait. It seems like forever on this stupid 6 month supervised diet and I'm READY now! Hoping for a late April or early May band. Congrats, i'll be watching your progress! Another Texas girl!
