    2 Years Post-Op: Can't Lose More Weight

Actually, compounded tirzepatide is compounded with Vit D and/or L-carnitine with provides different dosing levels than prescribed Zepbound hence it is still available for purchase as it does not "duplicate" the medication per FDA guidelines. This new guideline was effective March 19th and I have had a compound Rx script filled since then with L-carnitine compounded with it, no issues or problems. Works just the same as before.

All excellent information and points which is why I always direct my patients and anyone I give advice/an opinion to that it's best to discuss your specific medical needs with your bariatric provider to choose what "tools" are best to fit your goals. Every "tool" will have non-responders or "failures". Having a open, close dialog with your provider will ensure a better rate of success. No ones medical history is the same nor will be what they need to do, take or undertake to achieve said goals.

Exactly on point and why it was a fit for me as I was in full menopause with my hormone changes basically stalling my metabolism. I haven't experienced my appetite suppression as other have but regardless, due to my particular medical needs, it's working for me 🙂 Also, as an endocrine nurse, I have found my personal experience during all this as an amazing way to connect with my patients who are facing similar challenges. Everything happens for a reason ❤️

    2 Years Post-Op: Can't Lose More Weight

Good morning. I'm not discounting anything SpartanMaker posted above. However, I was in the exact same boat as you. I was eating 1200-1400 calories, religiously measured/counted everything, plenty of water, I played with my macros till I was blue in the face and for 10 months I did not lose and I did not gain. I'm a nurse so I probably have more background in nutrition than most, so I'm confident in how I was eating was appropriate and what most providers would "recommend". In February I went to my two year follow up. My labs were perfect, my vitals on point and I had not lost one ounce since the last visit nearly a year prior. After having a long conversation with my bariatric provider, the only change since the losing stopped was I was pretty much into full menopause. We discussed options and ideas on how to "overcome" the hormone influencing my insulin processes that was affecting my metabalism hurdle I may possibly be facing. She said based on her research zepbound might be a great option as it also can help in reducing "hot flashes" which I was having twice a day, everyday. Long story short, even with my insurance, zepbound would have been around $700 a month, so I choose to do the my budget friendly compound tirzepatide route (the compound equivalent to zepbound) with my provider's blessing. I have been on the weekly injections for 6 weeks and have already been able to shed 19#. I have not ate any differently, no change in my physical activity AND the hot flashes are gone. I'm not suggesting this would be the answer you need, but it's been a game changer for my journey. Good luck ❤️

    Body Dysmorphia

I think when your body changes so fast it takes awhile for your mind and perceptions to catch up! I went from a 4x top and size 22 pants to a large tee and size 10/12 pants and only recently can I hold up a shirt or pants with confidence of what will fit me now without "oversizing" because it's been plus sizes for for me over many years ❤️ I try to not overthink it too much and just tell myself to enjoy my hard work paying off. Hang in there!

How do you take your oats?

My go-to overnight oats: 1 cup oats 1.5 cups unsweeted almond milk 4 scoops premier chocolate protein 2 tbl sp PB2 a splash of vanilla. Makes 4 servings, a ton of protein. Oats are a complex carb so burn slow and balances the protein. It tastes just like a no bake cookie 😍
  7. I'm answering your question as a nurse who works with both bariatric patients and diabetic patients. First, these are two completely different meds, two different classes, two different ways of affecting the body. Phentermine is an anoerectic medication and is an amphetamine that decreases the appetite. Tirzepatide (generaic name for zepbound) is GLP-1 agonist and GIP agonist (it's a dual agonist vs typical single GLP-1 agonist like Ozempic) which stimulates insulin production with the purpose of lower blood sugar levels and helps someone feel full longer. Second, there is a nationwide shortage of Zepbound since early April because of it's popularity. Patients have started choosing compound pharmacies to create this formula for them instead of discontinuing or changing to different medication. With that being said, the FDA doe NOT regulate compound pharmacies. Historically, compound pharmacy are popular with patients needing hormone replacement therapy and these pharmacies abilities to customize said medications. Third, medically speaking, the only medication interaction of concern between the two would be once a patient lost considerable weight, that hypoglycemia would be an issue. In my own experience, yes medical providers will write scripts for dual medications like this for various reasons, circumstances and medical conditions.
  8. Wow, this calculator was wayyyy more accurate to my progress than the Mexico Clinic one. At a year I was down right at 90# and this calculator estimated 100# so I'm pleased to be somewhat close 🙂

    Down Time

I took off 6 weeks but I'm a nurse who has a pretty physical job at moments. I also had my second granddaughter due during my 5th week off so I chose to take 6 weeks so I could enjoy a week of baby cuddles ❤️ Honestly, I had zero complications and very minimal pain with my bypass. Was driving and doing most things without trouble, albeit a bit slower, within the first 3 days. I would suggest take as much time as you can and elect to go back sooner based with how you feel. If you can afford and allow yourself the extra time, just enjoy it and get super familiar with your new you and your new routines. Good luck!!

    Waiting on Fep BCBS

I have Fep BCBS and it took about a day and a half. They filled on a Monday morning and I had an answer by end of business on Tuesday.

    Tamales

I am sure there will be a lot of "stick to the plan" replies, which I will agree is never a bad decision but I wanted to offer a real life viewpoint lol I was about 5 weeks out from bypass when my guy made homemade pork tamales. I asked him to make some mini ones for me because I knew my tummy could not hold a full size tamale. He made the pork melt in your mouth tender, lighter on the seasoning and I had zero issues have one mini one and I had zero regrets for enjoying it. If you try one, just eat super slow, small bites and make sure you listen to your tummy. That's all I have to offer on the subject 🙂

    Reheating food

Over reheating leftovers in the microwave can dry out the food and dry food can cause tummy upset due to textural issues because it's dry. I happily use my microwave, just enough to get my food warm but not dry.

Any Feb surgery peeps out there?

Well I'm 4 days post op! Zero issues with hydration and protein. 80 0z liquids so far today and 65 grams of protein. Never had "sharp pain" but felt like I had an ab workout from hell that I'm still trying to get over the soreness lol. No nausea. No diarrhea. No leaks. No complications. Had surgery at 10 am the 1st and headed home around 9am the next morning. No issues with my chewable vitamins. No horror stories of gad pains from the lapo. Was belching day of surgery, passing gas by day 3, first BM day 4. Taking miralax each morning, mixed w Gatorade zero. Taking just Tylenol, still have two "pain pills" just in case. Drove my car today! No temp or taste issues. I feel super grateful my luck so far! Down 11.6 lbs but I'm assuming IV fluids weight is alot of that number. I have 6 incisions like the first photo. The bruised one is the one they place the stapler through. Sent from my SM-F721U using BariatricPal mobile app
