Standing up to take sips of water helps soooo much right after your surgery. I think after the surgery there's still a lot of gas in your abdomen and for some reason, I found when I stood up to take my 20-30mls of water every half hour it was so much easier and it helped allow me to burp to make room for that water. I was sharing a room with another patient and she was struggling, so i told her what I was doing and she started doing it to and said it worked wonders Also if you feel nauseous at all, even if you think it's just a little, ask them for medication. I decided to try to ride it out and very quickly found out it was a bad idea. Nurse ended up putting me on a drip as they didn't trust me to tell them when i needed more medication. So don't be afraid to let them know exactly how you're feeling and if you need anti nausia. All the best! You can do it.
