who supports right to choose
rodriguezequal replied to 396power's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Do you realize what that would mean?! You would imprision a, let's say, 9 year old girl who has already gone through being raped just to satisfy your sense of justice for aborting an embryo? That seems a bit extreme to me... -

No of course not...back in Biblical times there was nothing wrong with having sex with a 10 year old... -

Just because a lot of people agree with thou shalt not murder and what not doesn't mean they all make that decision based on a religious belief...I saw a bumper sticker yesturday that said: "I like your Christ, but can't stand your Christians" lol thought it was worth sharing :blushing: -

That is what I have been saying! You cannot mix church and state. Others religious views should have no impact on laws at all. Not everyone shares the same views so why should one be forced to follow anothers beliefs? -

Do you burp more now that you are banded? (non-productive, just air)
rodriguezequal replied to dustout's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's probably from the surgery. lol. Did you get Gas-X Strips? Those really helped me after surgery...It gets better as you heal. Just give it time  -

rodriguezequal replied to dustout's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
All I can think of is maybe it's something else...really a burp is just air and shouldn't be able to get stuck...maybe it's reflux or something? I hope you figure it out and it gets better real soon though! -
I've been doing well. I'm currently pregnant and have actually lost weight since I found out lol. I find that I'm able to get tortillas down pretty well. I haven't had any problems with my band! I did recently have to get my band unfilled due to pregnancy tightness lol Good luck to you!

Seriously I have found that some of the more sensitive pregnancy tests come from dollar tree/dollar stores. I like pink ink tests the best because you have a low chance of seeing an evap line! -

I haven't really had much discomfort, but let me say this. I am 26 weeks pregnant and my baby kicked me the other day right at my port and it sucked! lol

Giving up Breastfeeding?
rodriguezequal replied to MrsFlipFlops's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Personally I would get emptied. I'm 26 weeks pregnant and I have already been emptied and I have lost 20 pounds since finding out I was pregnant. Having you band loosened or emptied doesn't mean your going to gain weight! Just don't go on a bender and get crazy lol. However, you have to do what is healthy for you as well. Yes breast milk is best for your baby that doesn't mean it's your babies only hope...there is nothing wrong with formula. With my son he has a g-tube and I was never able to breast feed him, but I did pump for 6 1/2 months but I also had to add formula to my breast milk to give him the right amount of calories. You have to be healthy for you and for your baby! Don't feel pressured to breastfeed...it's okay if you have to stop. It doesn't make you any less of a woman just like breast feeding doesn't make you a better mother! -
PCOS lap-band, what weight to start trying at??
rodriguezequal replied to SaraEmily's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I had been on the pill for a little over 10 years. I came off the pill July 2006 and found out I was pregnant August 2006 (Before surgery) I was 214 when I got pregnant. Then I went back on the pill and off it April 2009. Found out I was pregnant May 2009 at 195 then I miscarried a week later. I gained weight tried again June 2009 and found out I was pregnant July 2009 at 207 pounds. I am 5'3''. My husband likes to joke that he has super sperm lol. I know that it isn't easy for everyone to get pregnant right away so don't get discouraged...just have fun trying  Also my doctor had me start folic acid before trying or you could start prenatals before trying. It's good for you and for the baby you will conceive! Don't look at it like it's work...have fun. Try new things, have sex often and just enjoy it!!! I'm around if you ever need to chat or have any questions!!! Good luck and have FUN!!! -
PREGNANT and devastated
rodriguezequal replied to iwalktheline's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I know that times are tough and I'm sorry. I have lost 20 pounds since learning I was pregnant. I'm 26 weeks now and still doing well. Just because your pregnant doesn't mean you have to stop exercising or that you have to blow up like a christmas float! I have had an abortion...I do not regret it and I never will, but mine was done for a different reason. There are options you just have to make sure you do what is right for you. Please do not let anyone pressure you into doing something that you don't feel is right for you! I am always around if you need to talk. I know I'm young, but trust me I have been through a lot and I have overcome! You can ask me anything and you can talk to me about anything and not have a fear of being judged. It'll be okay hun... -
Go to dollar tree and get a pregnancy test...they work really well and are actually pretty sensitive to HCG! MY AF didn't change after surgery. I was on bc though....then I stopped and were pregnant within a month...good luck. Keep us posted

H1N1 vaccine and pregnancy
rodriguezequal replied to Cleo's Mom's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I had the h1n1 shot and baby and I are fine. Really it's not very different from the regular flu shot. Getting this shot not only protects you it protects your baby now and later in life....don't believe all this hype crap. Come on...some people think that shots given to babies/children cause autism and what not and choose not to get their kids vaccinated and to me that is very sad. I know kids that have autism and a couple of them didn't get shots...the FDA wouldn't allow it to be given to pregnant women at all if it was not safe for the mother or the fetus... -
How long did it take you to conceive?
rodriguezequal replied to mrsparker621's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I had been on the pill for a little over 10 years and started trying July 2006 found out we were pregnant by August 2006. Then I had an IUD place then removed and started the pill again. A year after restarting the pill we went off to try again. We started trying April of this year and found out we were pregnant May, unfortunately a few weeks later lost the baby. Started trying again in June and found out we were pregnant in July lol. My husband jokes that he has super sperm lol. Each time before we started trying I went on folic acid! It's good to be on it as soon as possible so while ttc think about taking a prenatal or just folic acid! Good luck and let me know how it's going. I'm around if you ever need to talk!!! -
My Band is not working!
rodriguezequal replied to Chicky abby's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I had trouble eating and around 14-16 weeks got my band completely emptied. I have lost around 20 pounds since learning I was pregnant. I had 6 ccs in my band and now am completely empty and 26 weeks pregnant. I eat carbs, but definately try to go with healthy carbs like whole wheat and what not. Don't let you cravings get out of control though. I find that if I just have a few bites of something I'm craving that I'm okay. Just make sure you don't gain too much, but be healthy for you and baby  Good luck to all of you!!! -
Hey there all! I'm a 22 year old mother of a 2 year old special needs/disabled son. My husband is stationed at Fort Lewis. I have no family or friends up here so it would be nice to connect with some other banders in this area...Anyone? lol Hope all is well with eveyone. I also have a whole lot of clothes that I'm getting rid of. Sizes 18-24/26. Shirts, Pants, suits, large bras...lol. All kinds of stuff. Take care!
