Okay so the other day my husband took the car with the baby's seat in it and I wanted to go to the store...I pack up the stroller and get my son ready and off we go...the store is 1.8 miles from our apartment and it is very very very hilly. I get down the first hill and half way up the second one when I stop and say "What the heck was I thinking?!" No stopping now though...I'll just walk to the store get what I need and wait for my husband to call and say he's on his way home. He can come get me...I finally make it to the store about an hour later. I then walk around the store for an hour and then sit and rehydrate for 20 minutes. I'm bored now...okay I made it here I'll just go back home. this time it only took me 45 minutes...while I'm out I think I'll just go get the mail...almost 4 miles later I arrive home with a huge blister on my pinky toe OUCH!!! lol The surprising things is...I wasn't sore the next day...or the next...I never got sore. That was a huge walk for me...WOW...I think next time I'll just walk around the block...lol, but I went from a size 24 to a size 18 (tight) since my surgery!!! YEAHYA!!!!!!

    What is First?

I also paid usig CareCredit and the great thing about them is you can reuse the card as long as you have a balance on it..so say when I have hanging skin everywhere ...lol I can use my card for it...lol.

    Nothing tastes the same...

I think thats more mental...if you know that you're on your way to help yourself than your mind is trying to help you make that transition by making you taste with your eyes just as much as your taste buds...if that makes any sense...It's really good if soda tastes bad now because that and carbonated drinks are no nos with a band good luck

    What is First?

My surgeon does LapBand either if you have a BMI of 40 or higher, are 100 pounds more overweight, or if you have a BMI of 35 or higher with other obesity complications (like sleep apnea, back problems, high blood pressure)...I am self pay and at my surgery center it came out to be around 16000 or so for the surgery, 13 months of fills and if something goes wrong with the band within the first 2 years than they'll fix it and all I would have to pay is for annesthsia...It varys from place to place, but do some more research...there are so many places to look...good luck and keep us posted

    My feet are not shrinking!

LMFAO..omg that was way too funny. I'm more worried about my deflating boobs :smile2:~ Of course the thought of my butt size crosses my mind, but not nearly as often as the tube socks I see when I look down...lol good luck all!!!

    Where do i start?

I'm also 22 and had done many many diets with no lasting results! I have TriCare and they cover the surgery, however, none of the hospitals here in Washington would take them because they don't even pay back enough to cover the band itself let alone the surgery fees. So I had to self pay. I went through CareCredit. A lot of insuarance companies have websites where you can look and find what things are covered. Find a seminar close to you and go to it!!! Sometimes that is the motivation you need. You're mom is right, you can do whatever you want to do!!! Go for it!!! It is really worth it!!!!! Good luck! Keep us updated

    Will I be able to...

I have an 18 month old that is about 26 pounds. I asked my surgeon and she said there aren't any lifting restrictions, but you need to be careful and only do what you feel comfortable with. I couldn't pick my son up until like week 2 or so...I could sit down and let him crawl up into my lap...after 2 weeks though I was fine...I guess every surgeons suggestion is different so I would ask yours  good luck

    First Fill Experience... :|

Okay so yesturday I went in for my first fill and I was extremely nervous!!! I was told don't worry the lady doing your fill is our "best"! Okay...still super nervous. So she asked me some questions and told me that they put 3ccs in when I had the band put in so she was going to add 2ccs for a total of 5 ccs...fantastic . So I lay down and she feels for my port and then tells me to hold my legs up until she tells me. She pushes in the needle...no pain at all...but she couldn't get it into my port...after abour 2-3 minutes of her wiggling the needle around trying to get it into the access point. Painful...pretty painful. She finally had me rest my legs and pulled the needle out. She said that she had to poke me again...So she poked in the needle a second time. Again she didn't get it into the port. a few more minutes of moving around the needle she finally got it into the access point of the port.... *sigh* Did anyone else have a similar experience???? I hope my next fill goes better...

    First Fill Experience... :|

Yeah she pushed on my tummy and said your port is right here...and then she kept say oh I'm sorry we have to go in at the exact right angle....

    First Fill Experience... :|

The needle going in ...I didn't even feel!!! Don't worry...it could just be my body

    Allergic Reaction?

When I had my IUD put in I had a reaction to it because it was crocked. My face and neck looked almost bruised and I had to have it removed. Also your body changes and you definately could have developed an allergy to something that you've taken long ago with no problems. Try Zyrtec and see you regular dr. It may be something that you are eating or soap...something. Good luck!!!
  12. Okay so I was banded like 3 weeks or so ago...and my port doesn't really bother me until...I have sex with my husband. Has anyone else experienced this discomfort/pain? Will it ever go away? Thanks in advance and I'm sorry for TMI...lol Take care everyone.
  13. rodriguezequal

Adult question...you have been warned :D

We're having sex it just hurts where my port is...I hope that goes away...thank you all very much

    My feet are not shrinking!

It takes longer for your feet to shrink than it takes for your body. Give it more time...it'll come

    Low Thyroid?????

Synthroid is one of those drugs that you can't go back and forth between the brand and the generic! Most meds you can switch back and forth with no problem, but for some reason you can't do this with it. Make sure that if you are on the brand you stick with the brand and if you're on the generic you stick with it as well!!! Good luck! Like I've said before...I'm on 300 mcg and have been on synthroid since I was very young! Get it under control and all will be good!

    Am I really full?

Okay so I feel my tummy start to growl. I make something to eat and I sit down...the feelings gone...I eat a little and then a little more, but still feel the same. I can never tell if I'm full so I find my self eating very very little because I'm so afraid of over eating! How can I tell if I'm really hungry and really full? Any advice or similar problems? Thank you in advance!

    I'm new and not sure!

I actually feel great. The first day isn't so bad. The second day you feel a little sore. For me the 3rd and 4th days were the worst. I didn't even use my pain meds because really it feels like that hurt you feel after you do A LOT of sit ups/crunches. I had to do one week liquid, one week mushies, and then slowly introduce solids! I feel great though. My incisions are healing nicely. My port is still a little sore, but not bad. I'm sure you'll do fine! The surgery center that did my surgery has online support groups, 24/7 phone line and support groups that meet like twice a month or something! It's great and I wouldn't go back! Good luck and keep me updated :rolleyes2:

    Help! Need answer quick!

My surgeon told me that heart burn is one of the signs that your band is too tight...I'd call your Dr and tell him what you're feeling because if you just wait you could risk overfilling your stoma and stretch it! If in doubt call your Dr...

    I'm new and not sure!

If you go up top to the search bar and type in United Kingdom you'll get some matches of people that are from the UK...some wont be but some are

    I'm new and not sure!

I've had the same problems and it actually helped me get the LapBand because It showed that even though I've done diets multiple times I've always gained the weight back and then some! I also had back pain, knee pain, and just all around pain. It also helps if you have high blood pressure and stuff. I hope that you are able to get some help  Good luck!!!

    I'm new and not sure!

Umm....I'm not exactly sure what a stone is, but try calculating you BMI. A lot of times it has to be about 35 or above 40 to be considered. My BMI was 44 or something and I was self pay. Wish I could be more help. Good luck. I hope you find your answer

    Okay...a Breast Question...

I was banded a little over 2 weeks ago and have lost close to 20 pounds. I have large breasts and lately they have been itchy and very lumpy...has anyone else have this problem? Breast cancer runs in my family so the lumpy thing was making me pretty nervous...any input is welcome Thanks in advance
