I was just going to say that. While she may not think abortion should be legal she has reached out and helped ones that had abortions to find counseling if they need it. She is very compasionate...just very passionate about her beliefs :smile2: -

As of now...adoption would be way out of our price range. We are young...We knew nothing of any of my son's problems. I had horrible prenatal care at the militrary hospital here. We thought he was growing fine. March 12th. at around 1130 am I went to the Labor and Delivery complaining that I was having contractions. They checked my blood pressure which was high, but it had been that way most of my pregnancy so they dimissed it. They couldn't find my baby's heart beat because they said that at 32 weeks the baby "swims" around a lot and is hard to get on the moniter. Then they kept an eye on me for another 15 minutes and sent me home. 10 that evening I started feeling sick...like I had to push...and I was hurting. I started bleeding. I called 911 they had me walk down the stairs from our apartment by myself. The didn't use the sirens. They got me to l and d and they started to examine me. I was 10 cm dilated by the time I got there. They moved me to a delivery room. My water broke and was nothing but blood. My son had no heartbeat and was not moving. They rushed me for a c-section. When I woke up, they took me to see my son's body as the worked on him. They took me back to my room and I feel asleep. I took 4 units of blood and my son took 7. He was 2 pounds 4 ounces and 15 inches long. He was purple and blue. He had a black eye and they though he had had a stroke because or the way his face looked...they started finding more and more things wrong with him...hydrocephalus, muscles missing, paralysis...I was horrified...but I loved my son. They gave him an hour...then they said if he can make it 24 hours he may be okay...he just turned 2 on the 13th. He is 27 pounds and almost 3 feet tall. 2 surgeries later...here we are  -

Yeah but if abortion was illegal the mother would be unable to have an abortion because someone else would be making that decision for her. My husband and I are thinking about trying again...maybe. It's very scary to think I could be in the same situation again. I don't know if I could do that to myself or my husband...or my son. I almost died the night/morning he was born and my husband almost lost his whole family (me and our son)...I don't want that to happen again. They told me that because of my clotting disorder I will most likely miscarry. They said that they were surprised I carried my first as long as I did.I would also have to have/give myself daily shots to carry without as many complications...it's a big decision that I am not sure I am ready to make . Thank you for your compassion . -

Yes some choices have victims...in the case of abortion being legal, that victim is the fetus. In the case of it being illegal the victim is the mother...so what's your point in that statement? I'm not trying to be rude, I just honestly don't understand. -

I did not assume....all of what I said was in the for of a question...Have you...? Not you never. And no I would not have aborted my son. I was not that young of a mother. We were trying for a baby and I did not have the amnio. I told my dr that if my baby was downs it would not affect the way I continued the pregnancy. I would not have aborted my son. I loved my son the moment I found out I was pregnant, but my husband and I were trying to have a baby. It was not an unwanted pregnancy. I have always wanted a big family...and now, I may never have another baby and that kills me inside, but I would never vote to force women to give up babies or to carry a baby to term if they don't want to. It isn't your life to decide...it really isn't. -

Does the quality of the mother's life not matter? You have no idea how difficult and trying it is to raise a disabled/special needs child. You don't know how much it hurts to blame yourself...to think it was your fault. To look at that baby everyday and cry because you can't do anything about it. Have you ever tried to end you own life because if it would end it would be so much better? Have you ever cried yourself to sleep because you had to leave a hospital without your newborn baby? Have you ever had to answer the questions and stares of strangers? Why aren't you ordering something to eat for your little one? Why wont you let him eat off your plate? Why is he retching...is he sick? Keep him away from my kids! Don't tell me that it wouldn't affect quality of life because you have no idea what that life is like. -

When something happens to a spouse or a child in life that requires them to be on life support. Is it wrong for the spouse or parent to make the decision to pull the plug? -

I am the parent of a disabled child, but we did not know in utero. Even some of the doctors said that if they knwe it was possible they would have suggested abortion. I do not think anyone should have to go through what we, as a family, have gone through. Not everyone can handle what we have had to go through. My son is happy. His disabilities do not prevent him from having a pretty normal life. However missing multiple limbs would affect quality of life, or does that not mean anything to you? Is living enough even if the life is not worth living to the person? -

Don't you think that if the mother could die from having birth that it is okay to abort? Isn't that "killing" because we are presuming or anticipating her death if she continues with the pregnancy? What's the difference? -

So you think that a baby that is deformed should be born even though they may not be happy at all their whole life? That's pretty selfish. What if you were pregnant with a baby that would be born missing it's legs and arms? Or a baby that would be a vegetable it's whole life? -

I was fine with it as long as it wasn't mandatory. How would you feel as a child to find out that your father is your grandfather. What if the child is being aborted because it is deformed or so disabled it could not lead a normal/happy life...? They should be forced to live? -

not when there are so many newborns that there isn't enough homes to take them in...which is what would happen if babies that were going to be aborted are instead born. -

What about the mother's life...does her life not matter? What if childbirth will kill her or severly damage her body....it's okay because the baby deserves to be born no matter what befalls the mother? -

NONE of the dictionarys I read said a pregnant woman...not one...I have 3 at my home...none of them! Beating a child and having an abortion is different no matter how many simularities you think there are. The only people that will benefit or suffer from the decision of this is the woman wanting the abortion....not you guys that are trying to "protect" the unborn! Come on...it's like beating a dead dog....no matter how many times you kick it, it will never yelp in submission.
