Anyone's band & port disconnect one them???
rodriguezequal replied to taralee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not had any of these problems, but if it was me I would be looking for another surgeon for a second opinion (at the very least). I don't think I would trust the first surgeon anymore, but that's just me! If you are comfortable with your surgeon and the work he has done then by all means keep going to see him, but there are other surgeons out there...maybe the problems will stop...? Good luck!!! -

I would have to say a combo of all of them. You have to work with the band, which means chosing healthy, filling foods when possible and not drinking too soon after eating. You need to excercise because it helps burn thos calories that you take in causing faster weightloss. Also you need that support group for the times you need a kick in the butt or kind words to get you back into gear. For me I set a lot of little goals because I feel proud and accomplished with everyone I meet; walk to the mail without getting tired, fit a regular BP cuff, lose 5 pounds/10/15  -
I've seen those...they are kind of ugly, but I want some so badly lol. I may have to go check them out  I'd rather look goofy and thin than stylish and fat lol

Thinking about Lap Band but have questions
rodriguezequal replied to carolyn22's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I do not have sleep apnea. I do have hypothyroidism. I also have a clotting disorder. Right before my surgery I was given a shot of Heparin in my thigh. I didn't have any clotting problems and the surgery went great. A lot of problems like sleep apnea and high cholesterol get better and sometimes go away with weight loss! Those may make it easier to get approved for this surgery! Good luck and I hope things work out okay for you  -
My surgeon doesn't have a no straw rule...infact everything I drink is through a straw. The water they offered me after surgery was through a straw lol. I don't see that problem with crystal light (maybe slightly with the teas), but you could try the propel ones or lemonades...I wish I could be of more help lol. Good luck!

Overweight friends and the lap band
rodriguezequal replied to bashful1269's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can only help your friend if she wants help. Try going for walks together...Try walking at the mall or just Target first (that way it doesn't seem so much like work :smile2:). Pick up a hobby together, like a book club, or crocheting. She does need to lay off the soda though. If you feel you have to have food at a function make it a healthy food...veggies and ranch dip or lowfat cheese on crackers (but keep the amounts available low). I hope this helps...even if just a little  -
It's not that we trash religious folks...just the ones that try to force feed us their beliefs and then don't really follow what they are preachin

Thank you for respecting that thread  I do respect you for doing that and for just starting your own. I am sorry if I was a bit crazed and snippy in the beginning. I am going through a lot right now and just let other things in my life put anger and what not into my previous posts...sorry!

To some point I agree with your post. It sucks that all of a sudden people who probably talked badly about him are now oh I loved him he was great...As for me I have always been the way I am now. I'm not going to go as far as saying I loved him, but I loved (still love) his music and his videos. Everyone handles abuse (physical, sexual, emotional) differently...some take the wrong road. I understand that not everyone enjoyed his music, but a lot of people did. Also, a lot of people choose to believe/trust that he was a good person and never hurt any kids...and some don't which is fine. Whether you liked him or not...you'll probably remember him.

Liquid Vitamins
rodriguezequal replied to healthy-me-in-Az's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
O ok. I'll have to call and ask my surgeon. I was just following the instructions on the bottle ( 1/2 for kids under 12 and 1 for over and adults) hmmm...Maybe I'll call her monday just to be sure. Thanks -
I got 2 EAS shakes a day and a low cal. lean frozen meal at night...it was the longest week of my life lol

Wow...All I am doing is responding to you posts. If that comes across as me trying to be the center of everything that is not my intention and I'm sorry.

I wouldn't have been allowed all of the in my pre op diet lol! Maybe during the liquid post op, but not pre

This is the post I was refering to because it was in response to something I posted. One can only assume that you were talking about me...

I haven't had a problem with debating this. I do however have a problem with calling me stupid and the questioning what I would do with my own child because I don't think That has anything to do with this discussion and I am not a stupid person.
-
That is exactly what I was trying to do..we are both entitled to our own opinion, but don't call me stupid because you don't agree with mine

Just make sure you follow the pre op diet to the T so you don't wake up with no band!!! -
A lot of women when they get pregnant need to get unfilled...it helps you get all the nutrients the baby and your body need. It also helps with the morning sickness...sounds to me like you're one of the ones that needs an unfill. Good luck!

I'm 22 (almost 23). I got my band last year. I was 253 at 5'3''...which is kind of large for my height. Most surgeons require you to lose weight before the surgery (I had to lose like 7-10 pounds) in order to shrink your liver making the surgery safer and easier. They put me on a liquid (with one lean cuisine) diet for the weeks before my surgery! It was worth it. I got down to 192...then I had some stress so I gained some weight back, but as soon as I get past this I'm going to get a fill  It was so so worth it! I'm around if you ever need to talk!
