A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
babyjane replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hello, i am pre-band-no surgery date yet-i hope in may or june. i think i weigh 375 and @ 5'3 1/2", my bmi is 65!!! i get so discouraged to think about it--having to lose about 200 lbs. at least. i KNOW i will be all wrinkly and saggy and will not be able to ever have any cosmetic surgery, but hopefully i will live longer. i would like to be able to take a shower again w/o a shower chair-you know -maybe actually stand up!! not have to ride my scooter when i have to go out in public. i don't use it at home--but i am sure my kids hate me having to use it for ball games, school functions, etc...........oh, well , i know i have a long way to go-- and i am committed--i will look for the small victories ....:straight -
i need to lose 200-225 lbs--i am committed to doing the very best i can-- at my age, i cannot afford to waste much time---i feel like the time is right for me---if i don't do it now, i do not think i will be here in 5yrs!! and i have a 9yr old and a 12 yr old to take care of

are you being banded in mx or usa? --hope all goes well. not too many folks on this s.c. site, is there? look on the lap band lounge thread--there is a cute quiz about dixie or yankee--the results of mine is on there also--:hungry: i am making one of my "last suppers" tonight- shrimp scampi--after i am banded, i will not be able to handle that much butter again! :biggrin1:

i was 96% dixie, ya'll--the quiz asked me if general lee was my father!!!! born and raised in georgia-been in s.c. for 2 yrs. G.R.I.T.S.----girls raised in the south--that is what my front tag on my van says--that probably says it all.....

alexandra--i am hoping for surgery in may for band--you show your start weight was 340-i am about 375 and age 50--i seem to be larger than a lot of the posts i've read. i know you weighed a little less than me, but could i have a little more detail about your loss as someone who started out kinda large?? no offense, just want to hear from someone who may share a few things at that size--thanks!!:nervous

any info on dr rumbaut you can give me? i hope to schedule surgery with him for may---any details appreciated--thanks!!

i have been checking into dr aceves and also into dr rumbaut. aceves info is very good, but dr rumbaut in monterrey is at a fairly large facility. i have not scheduled surgery yet-but any info on your experience with dr rumbaut will be appreciated. i have to make arrangements to take my scooter or a big wheelchair as i cannot walk very far because of my knees. has anyone had to deal with a chair/scooter on trip and has anyone had to buy 2 seats on plane? i weigh about 375---not sure if i will be able to get 2 seats or not---any help is great!!:nervous
