uaroadtramp replied to Renob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I've lost all craving for heavy carbs ... Love fresh fruit juicing .... Don't like cofffee any more .... Have cravings for tuna .... 10 days post op .... I've been buying the 4 1/2 lb cans of tuna just to drink the Water pack for Protein ... I then freeze the tuna until the day I'll be able to eat it .... It's hmm hmmm good! Bought for a good protein source, "Beach Cliff" Fish steaks in Soybean oil with HOT green chilies. I think I'll be able to eat these slowly on 15 days post op ... looking forward to those guys! 08/24/08 - 10 days pre op .. 313LBs 09/11/08 ....................... 272Lbs 0?/0?/0? ........................ 175Lbs -

Odd! .... Since banded, I have no taste for coffee any more ... isn't that strange? And, I was a coffee hound!!! It just taste nasty to me now. -

Why are you sabotaging yourself? Burgers, fries, bread and cake ... Really!? Try what I did today .... I found one the best grocery stores in my local area for ripened fruit and veggies. I bought beautiful watermelons, cantalopes, tomatoes, cucumbers, celery, strawberries, assorted grapes, honeydew melons, blueberries, etc. Since I'm still clear liquid post op, I ran to walley's and purchased a juicer and blender. Have a ball with this stuff and trust the Creator's food choices for us. I made some really yummy things today! All very satisfying without guilt or consequence. And yes, the weight is vanishing at lightning speed. Take charge of yourself girl! I ate everyhing I thought I might miss prior to my pre-op diet. It got to the point where I would walk the grocery aisle in search for that something special .... as it turns out, the special is what I'm now doing. I WILL NOT always be large, but I'll be damned if I'm not going to be IN CHARGE! Best of Luck to you! -
Anyone getting Banded by Dr Huacuz on 3/28/2008!!
uaroadtramp replied to yourowndestiney's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Banded by Dr Haucuz 08/08 ... Ditto!!! I have never met a Doctor that engaged the time to make sure I understood all that was necessary ... This man is motivated by a sincere desire to enrich life. My cousin and I were banded by this good man one right after the other. My wife will be banded by him in the coming weeks ... I can not say enough. The medical team and center staff were beyond my expectations. Our every need was attentive ... I'm in constant email communication with these good people I now consider my family ... after all, they have enabled my rebirth. -

problem with banding 2 days ago
uaroadtramp replied to pvmanuel7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have indeed heard of this .... I'm 4 days post op #2 .... First time was too tight and experienced your exact symptoms and beyond .... required a total of 5 liters IV in two days to stay hydrated .... Went under surgery again to have addition tissue disected ... all is well now. Except a residual mental thing about not getting enough water and liquids. Baby sips from a guy who wants to chug a gallon of cold ass water just ain't manly!!! -
Newbie and need answers

Gabi, I will share with you my recent experience. This is not intended to motivate in any direction, it's just a matter of fact regarding myself. I am a 313 lb, 57 year old male who has fought battle after battle with weight my whole life. Even in high school, as a dedicated sports dude, my weight hovered at 200lb on my 5'-8" frame. Of course, as a young man, one can endure many calories as the work outs and activities would easily consume the massive intakes. I will admit I have enjoyed eating. Never a dedicated "junk food" junkie, I've enjoyed all foods. Fortunately, my family has always been very strict with the consumption of fruits and veggies. To this, I am grateful I do not suffer many of the weight related issues others do. I do, however, suffer the genetic condition of osteoarthitis that runs throughout my extended family. The difference is my weight (all of our weights) exacts 6 times body weight force on the knees through out regular activities. That's a whole bunch of weight and force!! My insurance company would rather spend big money on all weight related conditions rather than prevention. It's just the way of the business, I suppose? I decided to take matters in hand via research, knowing this would be a self pay. I chose to have the lap band procedure, and to have it done in Tijuana, Mexico. Now, I know some will freak at the idea of the Mexican experience and there are some considerations to be aware of. My dear cousin (female and same age) and I decided to do this together, one right after the other, even sharing a room. We had a wonderful, caring doctor, our every need was attentive, great support, and was even picked up from and delivered to the San Diego airport upon our release. I've never had any doctor cover any procedure or spend the quality time with us as this doctor. To shorten my long winded story .... I couldn't be more pleased. 3 days post op. Both of us feeling well. Excited about living life. And, so glad to have finally taken action. I will tell you one little drawback for me .... Living in Las Vegas, dry and arid, I used to gulp Water and liquids by the buckets. I'm frustrated by baby sips .... it's just not manly! LOL! food? ... Haven't missed it and I do not experience any hunger as of yet. I hope our experience offers you a degree of further thought. Best of Luck! OBTW 285 lbs WOW! In search for 175 lb. You Go Fat Boy!!! -
To be Banded 08/28/08 ... liquid diet is WAY challenging .... The upside ... have dropped 14 pounds in 7 days. Curious ... I'm not missing the food one might think. I'm truly missing the taste of my daily serving of Grape Tomatos and Cucumber slices. LOL! How Bout that for strange? 56 M Living in Las Vegas .... Surgery will be conducted in Baja ... The Trek began at an all time High of 313 pounds! Wow!! I need to lose half of me. That's an odd feeling. 299lb tonight ... perhaps, another pound will escape while I sleep? Good Luck to ALL!

Congrats to you! I see you'll be banded a day before me. The very best to you on the journey.

I will be banded 08/28/08. Have been on liquid diet for 6 days! My only fear is myself staying in control. The 14 pound loss during this liquid thing is encouraging .... Reading about some of the initial discomfort is a little wavering. Being a big guy, I have always loved a good meal but I have concluded that if I intend to live well into the future, I need to get this Mac truck off my F-150 frame! s/w 313 c/w 299 g/w 165 ... In My Dreams! LOL

I'm also in that boat! Heavy since 8 years old. Don't get me wrong, I have what it takes to lose weight, in fact, I've likely lost hundreds of pounds in my life time! I just haven't found the secret to keep from finding each one of them. This time is for real! At 56, I have every intention of peeling off the tonage and rock and roll like a teenager!!! Good Luck to You Sweety! -
