  1. I had Dr. Schwartz and he is a great surgeon. He is very dry, but seems to be developing a more out-going personality. I have nothing but high praise for the staff. I am from Green Valley where a support group is forming from his office. Can't wait for that to happen.
  2. I too have not seen the scale go down more than a pound a week. But, clothes are fitting more loosely. Hopefully by the next doc visit the scale will have gone down. I am on my third fill and finally feeling some restriction. Really need to remind myslef to eat more protein in order to stay healthy. Keep up the good work bandsters. Sue
  3. I use the 365 from Whole Foods. It comes in vanilla and chocolate and I add flavorings or frozen fruit into the blender. They taste great and friends are also using them . I sometimes have one during the day if the total protein for the day is not at 60. The band was the best decision of my life. Good luck to all with the "journey"
  4. I was banded on Nov. 5 YIPPEE The hospital experience was uneventful--actually very pleasant. Since I am a transplant from MA,, there was much joking about my "accent" in the holding room just before the OR. I don't think I sound funny ! Recovery was smooth. Very little gas pain. Had ice chips soon after I arrived in my room. Then spent most of the rest of the day sleeping. My pain was well controlled. I had to start walking and continue four times a day. I am on liquids for this week, then soft food for the next 2. and gradually putting in lumpy food. I feel great and am so glad that I did this. I must confess that I did not want too many people knowing about the band, so I said I was having a hiatal hernia repaired--which I did) and left it at that. Good luck to all Nov. bandsters. Have doc appointment on Tues. anxious to see what comes next.

  8. I am scheduled for next week--Nov. 5. Also the emotional roller coaster is in full swing with me. I wondered if I should cancel and do it myself, but NO went that route for far too many years and regained all and more ! Each diet went along fine for only so long and then like magic, I quit and went back to being a vaccuum cleaner........ My preop diet is not bad. 2 shakes and one "real" meal. I have been getting things lined up for post-op. Have lots of liquids, plenty of ice, popsicles, etc. Even bought a new wand to liquify whatever requires it. Good Luck to all in Nov. Here's to all of us to be successful on our new JOURNEY of life. Sue
  9. Hello from Arizona, I have been fighting fat and dieting all of my life. Am morbidly obese right now and also have some health issues. After much thought and reading in this forum, I have made the decision to go forward. My date is Nov. 5 and I start on the pre-op diet on Oct. 22. With continued readings and discussions, I will be as successful as many members. I am getting nervous. Just made the pre-admission appointments for the work-up. What a great help this forum has been.........Thanks Sue

    Hello from Arizona

Hi My Doctor is Dr. Swartz- in the same practice as yours. Are you going to their support group in Oct or Nov ? It is so good to find others from this area. Sue
