  1. I had the band surgery August 12 and am still on the liquid diet. Will begin thinking about the pureed this next week. I have lost 31 pounds (29 getting ready for the surgery, following the liquid and clear diet pre-op.) I can already wear some clothes I was unable to wear last spring which is really encouraging. Pain.....my shoulders ached. They said it was from the gas they use to inflate your adomen during surgery. The first couple days, I used the nice liquid pain med they gave me. But I haven't needed it much since. I have been using Unjury protein and Atkins shakes...not too bad. So, I hope I have begun a journey to good health.
  2. About half my body weight. It seems like an impossible goal, so I am focusing on ten pounds at a time. I am half-way to my next ten pound goal. I went to water aerobics for the first time after surgery yesterday. It felt great. And because it is at a Wellness Center connected to the hospital, I didn't feel conspicuous. There were lots of old folks there and lots of non-bikini bodies.
  3. I ate some canned chicken yesterday. I chewed and chewed until it was a mushy texture and had no problem. It tasted very good. I still like the protein shakes, but have tried a couple of the Atkins Protein Bars and had no problem. Good luck.

    Tell Us About You!

I had the lap band surgery August 12. First two days were kind of rocky, but no problem with pain now and the incisions are healing well. I am a school librarian and had to start back to work last week. I am kind of milking the "can't lift more than 15 pounds" just a little. I had to set up 13 new computers and made my clerk do all the heavy lifting. I am starting back to the wellness center today--will do water aerobics with all the other old folks. I can now wear clothes I couldn't wear last spring which makes me feel very good. I go in for my first fill Sept 22 and wonder what that will be like. Thank goodness for protein shakes. And Appleby's French Onion Soup--only 150 calories. Hope everyone else who was banded in August is doing well. It is not just about how you look, its your health and life expectancy. Good luck everybody.
  5. Not as much today as the first few days. The incision spots itch.
