I will be getting mine in Warren, OH at St Josephs hospital. Yes feel free to message me!

This process is very much "hurry up, then wait"! I should have been able to have all my requirements done in three months but I will be six months in when I get my surgery in June. Also if you dont like the DR I would look to find someone else. I have been extremely impressed with my surgeon and his staff this far.

We are getting the same surgery on the same day!

Im scheduled June 5th for my RNY!
-
My day got moved to June 5th now. I was sad at first but now I can have my garden 100% planted before surgery day

I believe my date is going to be May 8th. That's the date they submitted to my primary insurance (united healthcare). I don't have bariatric surgery coverage with my primary though so I'm waiting for them to submit to my secondary (Aetna). Fingers crossed that's the date I actually get!!

Nervous after kidnapping
kla7403 replied to Blossoming1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just my personal opinion here... I think that group may have been targeted because they drove their own car over the border with US plates. On top of that they were lost so who knows how bad the area was they ended up in. Someone who knows where they are going and what they are doing will pick you up and be driving you. I feel that alone makes you much safer. Also now that this has happened I feel like the police presence may be increased. -
I scheduled my remaining dietary appointments today! My 12th and final dietary is April 3rd. I've completed all my requirements and I'm really hoping to be approved and scheduled by the end of April! I'm getting really excited that I can see the end of this process in sight! I'm really looking forward to getting to surgery day and starting a whole new journey!!

Thanks for all the ideas!

So I have a cold brew maker from amazon. Basically a large mason jar with a wire filter in it. I fill it with cold water and put in the filter and add 1 cup of decaf coffee grounds. It goes in the fridge overnight and I pull out the filter and its ready to go

Insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery...now what?
kla7403 replied to LMorales's topic in Insurance & Financing
My primary insurance thru my employer (united healthcare) does not cover it. Im fortunate my husbands new insurance (Aetna) does have bariatric surgery coverage. But before he got this insurance I was seriously looking into going to Mexico for my surgery. There's some financing options available too. -

Struggling to envision weight loss
kla7403 replied to mcipanda's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So I read an interesting article early on in my research obsession that stuck with me. It said most people who get weight loss surgery are shocked when they "actually loose the weight". Meaning we are all so used to yo yo diets and unsuccessful attempts that when we ACTUALLY loose a significant amount we are shocked. Its almost like we are wired to not really believe its going to happen for us until it does and we are surprised. I think about that article a lot when "goal weights" are mentioned to me. I feel super unsure about setting a goal weight for myself. -

Can I ask how you have been so successful dropping weight already? Is the majority of your 71 pound loss from your pre op diet? -
Secondary insurance covered; primary - no
kla7403 replied to hollywrites2u's topic in Insurance & Financing
wait are you guys saying that if primary doesn't have bariatric coverage and the secondary does, that secondary wont cover it since primary denied it? -

no lunch room. we have a conference room some people will eat lunch there. all the things I listed were in our actual administration office where five woman work including me.
-
Any tips for working in an environment that loves to have tons of junk food? Here's just a small list of the food my coworker ate this week in our little office... New most stuffed oreos homemade brownies mcdonalds.. twice pizza hut donuts cupcakes homemade chicken queso dip with chips (in a crockpot on warm 5 feet from me the ENTIRE day) 😣 The four woman I directly work with know I'm having surgery in about 10 weeks and I'm really trying to change my eating habits. We all take lunch breaks but sometimes eat at our desks. This is truly showing me I can have the willpower to not indulge. I've lost around 18 pounds so far.

Scheduled And Insurance Denial
kla7403 replied to DTB583's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was there something you did that got it approved? -
What do you do when people your not close with ask how you lost weight? I have told all my close family and friends my plans for bariatric surgery but its not something I could see myself advertising to others. For example I work with a lot of men. I feel like it will be awkward if they ask how I'm loosing the weight.

Scheduled And Insurance Denial
kla7403 replied to DTB583's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr made it really clear at my first appointment that it is the patients responsibility to call and get exact specifications on what your individual insurance requires. They even made me sign a form stating they are not responsible if I don't call them and then later get denied. I have Aetna and I have to complete 12 dietary appointments (no specific time frame) as well as the list on clearances. I know other insurance companies require 6 or 12 months of dietary appointments.
