Ok I have to get a letter from a doctor before my insurance will approve me to meet with a surgeon. I went to my regular GP (who I like but he was an in a pinch a need a doctor and a friend recc type thing) and he said he won't write me a letter since he thinks it's just a cop out and I can do it myself with diet/exercise. Now I need to find another doctor who will write me a letter....does anyone on here have reccomendations? A doctor they know will write a letter? i am not cheating or anything I am more than 100 lbs. overweight and have hypertension which is what my insurance requires.

My hubby is going with me he's being very supportive about all this so I am happy! I think he just wants back the hot wife he married but I will take what i can get! haha For those of you that have been to the seminar was it helpful? Ok well I finally got someone at my insurance that actually knows what they are talking about and got some answers! There is no way we could self pay and didn't want to get my hopes up at all if they weren't gonna cover anything! They will cover 100% (except the $25 office visit copays) but the first thing I have to do it get medical documentation that I need the surgery either 100 lbs. overweight (which I am) or be more than half your body weigh (I am close but not quite) and if I have some other problem medicaly caused by the obesity (I have hypertension from my last pregancy that hasn't gone away so I HOPE that will work) I am actualy getting semi excited! I know I still have to get approved by insurance to meet with a surgeon but I am just excited this MIGHT be a possibility! Just wanted to share the good news!! :biggrin2:

That's awesome!! I am so glad you got your surgery date! I am still not going to get my hopes up in case I am not approved...that will be a day to celebrate! Seems this is a long process but will be worth it! Hopefully my days of yo-yo dieting are over!

Hey everyone! I am new to all this just started researching etc....I have contacted insurance but haven't heard! I thank everyone for the doctor evaluations I know who NOT to contact! Did everyone just call around and get prices? What is the norm pricing around here? I have a good friend that lives in Atlanta that had it done and it was over $20,000 so I wasn't sure what a good price around here is. -
Hey everyone! I have been researching all about the LapBand for awhile and I think it's really the solution for me! I have a good friend that did it over a year ago and I have talked to her extensively also! My biggest question she can't answer (she did selfpay) Where do I start? Do I talk to insurance first, talk to my doctor, find a surgeon in my area etc? I am overwhelmed and need help on what to do first! Thanks in advance for any advice!
