    eating and drinking

It can cause dumping syndrome so it’s a lifelong change. If I am in a situation that its time to eat but really can’t stop drinking 30 min before due to exercising or dehydration then I have a protein shake. There’s little evidence for gastric sleeve that you should stop drinking water 30 min. before a protein shake so my dietician gave me the ok. I do wait 30 minutes after finishing the shake though to drink something else.
  2. I had my surgery 11/28 and struggle with this too. I now take 3 colace a day, two in the morning and one at night which is the maximum daily dose. I still only poop now once every few days but it’s not as miserable as before. If miralax is too much for you, you can try half of a capful instead of a full one.
  3. Hi everyone, I have been craving sweets today to the point I can’t get them out of my head. I am 5 weeks post op and still on pureed foods, I move to soft foods next week at 6 weeks. I’m wondering how you guys satisfy a sweet tooth in this phase? I have things like sugar free werthers and mints, but it’s just not cutting it today.

    Satisfying sweets cravings

Thank you for everyone’s suggestions. In this instance, I know the why - my first period since my surgery and it’s hit me like a ton of bricks. Specifically I’ve been craving dark chocolate, I found a calcium supplement called Adora that seemed to satisfy the craving. It’s calcium carbonate so has to be taken with food but tastes JUST like normal dark chocolate with the same texture. It’s kind of expensive but nice for a small treat!

    Post-surgery pantry

One of the big recipes you’ll find in the pureed stage is for a ricotta bake. While the ricotta bake is good, I found that cottage cheese with marinara warmed up in the microwave was much easier and super tasty. I also found Turkey chili to be a satisfying, comforting pureed food in the cold weather.

    Does it get easier?

I’m struggling with this too. I’m 3 weeks post op and my surgeon seems to much more strict with my meal plan than a lot of others, so the food is getting quite monotonous. Not to mention it’s 4 weeks on the pureed diet for me. As for nausea, my vitamins are the main culprit and my PCP prescribed me Zofran to help mitigate the nausea while I play around with my vitamins to see what works.
