They are taken for precautionary or if u have a history of blood clots, i know my surgeon gives it to every patient the day of surgery and 10-12 days after surgery.

Hi am not 5'1 but my coworker is 5 feet and weighed 187 and got approved she also has diabetes, elevated cholesterol too. we have Aetna Hmo and went through Neweigh here in houston. don't give up she lost 13 pounds from her surgery date to her 2 week post op but also lost 8 pounds pre op . hang in there there will be a wait peroid for nutrition counseling, pshyc evaluation and so on , we had a 3 month waiting period but hey how long have we been overweight right?

good luck tomorrow my port is on my left side too, i havent heard of anyone's on the right side just double check tomorrow morning, you will talk to your surgeon before your surgery.

I like the way clothes are feeling now, the waist isn't digging into my fat lol i can finally see the belt buckles :tongue: hahah. This is going to be a great journey how much do u want to lose?

Hey congrats i also go banded on 08/12/08 it wasn't as bad as i thought it would have been. pain is mostly gone. some soreness around port area are you expiericing this also

Congratulations on the band. I was banded on 08/12/08, do u start eating next week? Im scared too but like u said chocolate,vanilla, strawberry, i don't think i can take anymore either. Have u had any problems so far

Hi Im new just got banded on 08/12/08. Doing pretty well. Has anyone been through neweigh and what dr did they use. I used Dr. Leiva, i really liked him, just wondering who else used neweigh.
