Do you mean food stages? If so, I think I was on full liquids for 4 weeks, pureed for 1 week and soft foods for about 2 weeks - it wasn't until about week 12 that I could eat regular food. I don't know what they are doing now - they will tell you at your pre-op nutrition class again.
-
Robin will call you and let you know when you can progress to the next stage.

August All Stars Easter Challenge! End, wk 2 (1/1/09)
momcof3 replied to heartfire's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I stayed the same this week - 217 - so I still have 9 lbs to go to meet my goal. -
Are you going to Kaiser Fremont for sure? I don't know much about Fremont, but Kaiser Richmond takes about 3-6 mths from orientation depending on how quick you lose your required weight.

I am glad to hear you are doing better Riley. I didn't read online until this morning, but Christine told me at the group meeting on Saturday that you had an infection. Take it easy. I found that when I thought I felt really good and then overdid it, it would set me back big time. The next group meeting at Point West Kaiser is Saturday March 28 at 11 am. There is going to be a clothing exchange that day too.

Help don't want (boink)partner to know
momcof3 replied to slimmy120's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think explaining the food issue will be harder. I have wondered what I will say about not being able to drink anything with my meal or for 1 hour afterwards and not being able to eat certain foods. Yes, I can order something and take the part home that I can't eat, but I am starting to think it would be easier to just say I was banded. If he has a problem with that, it isn't meant to be as I will be banded for life so if I ended up in a commited relationship he would need to know anyway for health reasons. I guess there's not a perfect answer. -
I stayed the same - 217 - which I will take. I strayed a bit with some Girl Scout cookies so at least I didn't gain. I also haven't made it to Curves this week.

Yes, breads are a problem for almost everyone. I was advised that the only bread I can eat is well toasted bread. Things like untoasted bread, pasta, rice, flour tortillas will swell up in your pouch and cause pain and eventually your pouch will stretch. Does your program list bread as a food you can eat?

I will be there early too.

is this Bandster "Hell"
momcof3 replied to blondie2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, that is definitely "Bandster Hell". I was absolutely starving until I got to the mushies stage and then I was still very hungry in between meals. It wasn't until I got my second fill that the hunger pains eased up. Hang in there, it will be worth it in the end. -
I just read under the Sacramento Area thread that there is a Bariatric Support Group meeting this Saturday at 11 am at the Point West Kaiser (by Arden Fair) - it is a mixed group (gastric and banding). I am planning on going.

I am planning on coming on Saturday - where do I go when I get to Point West? Pam

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
momcof3 replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on being banded Riley! Let us know how you are doing this week. -
I went to a Bariatrics Group at Elk Grove Kaiser once that meets every Monday evening - can't remember the time. At the meeting I went to I was the only person who had been banded - everyone else had gastric bypass. I haven't been able to find a lap band group in Sacramento either. There are a few people that meet for lunch - I met with them last week - we should set something up more regular. ?

Many questions regarding Kaiser
momcof3 replied to irkenpanda's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am also in Sacramento and the rule is BMI of 40 or BMI of 35 with two co-morbidities. But go ahead and talk to Member Services to see if anything has changed. -
I have been going to Curves for over a year and really like it. My Curves has the "smart" machines that keep track of your workouts, calories burned etc. Since starting Curves I have lost a total of 55 inches. Try the 2 week free trial and see if you like it.

Dr. Im did my band surgery in Richmond on Aug 26. I live in Elk Grove. There is a pre-op Richmond thread on this site and a Sacramento area one. Do you have particular questions?
-
It was nice to meet all of you at lunch. I am excited that you will all be getting banded in the near future. I didn't personally meet anyone who is/is going to be banded before Thursday - it helps to know other people who will know what it means to be post banded in the Sacramento area

last week - 218 today - 217 which is 1 lb. I haven't set a total goal, but would like to weigh around 170 - which means 47 more to lose. I have a feeling it won't be as fast as the first 68 lbs.

Any out there who are post-hysterectomy and banded?
momcof3 replied to Nooshie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a total hysterectomy at age 46 in March of 08 and then my lapband surgery in August of 08. I take 1 mg of estradiol a day so I don't know if this has any effect on my weight loss. I was losing good prior to my lapband surgery and also afterwards, but it seems to have slowed way down. I am hoping it is just temporary.
