  1. I get really thirsty when I'm done eating as well. I have started taking a sip or two of something to drink, usually Crystal Light, when I'm done eating - just to sort of get the taste of food out of my mouth and to relieve the dryness. But I don't drink anymore than that, and then I wait at least 45mins before drinking anything else.
  2. You need to read my post again. I said it sounds like a slip or a tilt, and she needed to call the doctor. I did not tell her that she had a slipped band. I gave her my opinion. Second of all, I'm rather sick of all the people on this site sugar-coating everything. If you eat pizza, chicken nuggets, and ice cream one day, then come on this site and complain that you ate crappy, you don't need someone to tell you that it'll be alright, you'll do better tomorrow. You need someone to kick you in the butt and help you get back on track. At least, this is what I'd want. Obviously I'm in the very small minority on that one. This woman has said in many many posts how much she tends to vomit after eating. I know this because I pay attention to every post she makes, mainly because we had surgery on the same day and I wanted to see how she was doing. Why am I the only one to shout out and give the wake up call she needs about vomiting? It could be a slip! I'm not saying it is, but it could be!! She asked if there was a test to find out if her band is OK - YES, there is a test, and your doctor can do it! So if you've thought about it being a slip - and obviously you have or else you wouldn't have posted that last question - then perhaps you're realizing that you should call the doctor and make sure everything is OK. And WannaB, you didn't answer my question to you. If you had had no fills, were 2 mos post-op, were vomiting often after you eat, and had been doing so practically since you started eating solid food - wouldn't you already have called the doctor? I'm done with this topic. Everyone on this site seems to placate people and be nice and tell them what they need to hear. But no one wants to hear the truth. The truth is what's important, and that's what I'm going to give you.
  3. I gave her my opinion - which is what she asked for. Tell me, if you hadn't had a fill AND you were two months post-op AND you were vomiting when you eat sometimes AND you'd been vomiting occasionally when you eat since you started this whole process...wouldn't you have already called your doctor and asked about potential band slippage??? The difference here is, we had surgery the same day. And I watched her post for two or three weeks about how she was feeling and was amazed that she was so hungry, amazed that she was eating solids so soon, and was truly shocked when she posted about how many times she'd PB'd and vomited. When you're PBing and vomiting it could mean you're overeating and/or not chewing properly, or it could mean there's a slip. To have been vomiting and/or PBing for two months with no fill just SCREAMS at me "CALL YOUR DOCTOR" so I really was just trying to tell her to do that. Call the doctor. We're all new at this, of course. But I'm sure I'm not the only one on here who feels like they've read every single thread on this site. I feel like I know more about the band than some people who have had it for a year. I probably don't, but I know what I've read. When you vomit and PB regularly, there's a problem. It's either you're eating too much, not chewing properly, or your band could be tilting or slipping. And if it were me, I'd have called my doctor within the first month.
  4. We had our surgery on the same day. I remember reading your posts about how hungry you were so early after surgery, and that you started eating regular foods early because you were so hungry - and I remember being in awe because we had surgery on the same day and I was feeling so different than you were. Now you're saying that you're throwing up often, and you haven't even had a fill. I have not thrown up or PB'd once and I just had my 2nd fill yesterday. To me, what you are describing sounds like a tilted or a slipped band, especially since you haven't had a fill yet. You definitely need to talk to your doctor about this.
  5. Miss Dee!!! I'm doing the skinny dance!!!! I'm down 1.8 since last Saturday!!!!:regular_smile:
  6. Hi Cheryl!!! I'm from Raleigh, so we're practically neighbors! I had surgery on Nov 5th, and went back for my first fill on Dec 5th. I also just got back from having my 2nd fill on Jan 9th, so I'm averaging 4-5 weeks between fills. Of course, my other option is to go to Fill Centers USA near Charlotte, which is more expensive than just flying back to Denver - how crazy is that?? I don't think a fill after 4 weeks is a bad idea, and I definitely think you'll be ready for a celebration 2 months out at your 30th Anniversary! What a milestone, congrats!! I'll be celebrating my 1st Anniversary on May 10th. I'll answer any questions you have, feel free to PM me and we can exchange email addresses! Congrats on making this decision! You won't regret it!!!
  7. Gosh, what is wrong with me? I'm sitting here sorta starving (because my fill is in less than 3hrs and I really don't want to have more than a protein drink and a yogurt on my stomach). I'm watching the FOOD NETWORK! I must be a glutton for punishment, haha. Dinner last night was great! It was so wonderful to put a face to the name finally. I met magaines, KaleighsMommy, AmythestJade, and BikiniBeachy. And it was great to see bahotmomma and MissMom24 again!!! We had such a good time! AmythestJade (Gina) has the pictures on her camera, and said she'd post them as soon as she can. Ladies, about the smilies - I agree, they're in a crappy place. But if you click on MORE, then it'll bring up a separate window with every smiley you can use, which includes many more than the standard ones you normally see. Until they fix this (and they better fix it!) we'll have to use that I guess.
  8. I'm leaving...on a jet plane! I don't know when I'll be back again...(forgive me for breaking out in song, I'm excited!!!) In about 5 hours I am headed out to Denver! I'm coming your way ladies! I'll be in Denver at 5:45p this evening, then picking up Gina (AmythestJade) and then we are making our way to Red Robin at Arapahoe at 7p! Look forward to seeing everyone that can make it out tonight!!! Only 30 hours until my 2nd fill!!! Crossing my fingers (and my toes) that this fill is the special one. Flights to Denver are starting to hit the wallet if you know what I mean!
  9. Yay, congrats on making what could be one of the best decisions of your life! Welcome to our little group Dan! I will have to agree with Deb. Sometimes our conversations get a bit... That makes one of us!!!
  10. I have tried adding the protein powder into my latte once...and never again. Because of the heat of the steamed milk, the powder clumped up and didn't mix well at all. Tasted terrible. Also, a Grande Skinny Latte gives you about 12g of protein, which comes from the milk. That's probably not enough. I need to hard-boil some eggs and take one for breakfast. A little salt and pepper, maybe a small teaspoon of mayo or mustard. That could be a good breakfast I suppose. I've never been a breakfast eater, so it's a hard habit for me to start! I'll report back what my surgeon says about my Starbucks, but I guarantee you that he will tell me to eat an egg and ditch the latte because it's just empty calories...even though it's less than 100cals!
  11. Metabolism, that's the word I was looking for! I knew skipping meals messed with something and I couldn't come up with the word. I'll ask my surgeon this Friday what he thinks. I guess I'll always have this problem in my head - if I eat more than twice a day then I feel like I'm eating too much. Ever since becoming overweight that has become my mindset and I see it being so hard to overcome.
  12. I've gotten into the somewhat bad habit of having a Skinny Caramel Latte from Starbucks every morning during the week (when I'm at work). It's either a Grande or a Venti. I've found that the espresso in these bad boys keeps me flying (hunger-free) for several hours. I typically don't get hungry for 4 or 5 hours, at which point it's time for lunch. My question is, is this an acceptable substitute for breakfast? Or am I still technically skipping a meal, thus hindering weight loss? I'm only 2mos post-op and am pretty much stalled at 15lbs since surgery - which is frustrating in itself. I go for my 2nd fill on Friday. I just want to know if having a low calorie Starbucks drink for "breakfast" is a bad thing. I know that breakfast is technically the most important meal of the day, and if I'm not eating real food, I feel like I might be starving my body and thus doing more harm than good. Thanks in advance!
  13. Wow, your doctor sounds like a real pain in the A$$!!!! I can't believe after two fills you're sitting at 1.5cc! My first fill was for 3.2cc, and my second fill (this Friday) will no doubt be another 1.5cc or more. I can't believe the difference in surgeons. Shocking! It's a shame you can't demand more. I can't imagine being in your shoes. :tt1:
  14. You don't have to be healthy as a horse to get a fill. Just don't cough and sneeze on the doctor, he might not appreciate it! Good luck!!!
  15. Is Denise her real name or her screenname?
  16. So it looks like we've got 5 people so far. jmegirl AmythestJade MissMom24 magaines KayleighsMommy I've only ever met MissMom24 in person, and I'm actually picking up AmythestJade to give her a ride - so hopefully we'll all be able to find each other, LOL.
  17. I didn't get a strange taste in my mouth, but I did feel the band tighten around my stomach. Dr put in about 4.5cc to start with, and then backed some out slowly until I was at a good spot. So when he injected all that at once, it was like someone putting their hand around my stomach and squeezing it tight (in a non-painful way). Strange sensation!!! I get my 2nd fill on Friday, can't wait!!
  18. Going for my 2nd fill on Friday. I have a 10cc band, and my band was placed empty. My first fill I got 3.2cc and felt restriction for about a week...and that's it. Here's hoping this next fill sticks around a little longer!!
  19. OK ladies, the time is upon us. We'll be gathering for our January RR night this Thursday at 7pm at the RR on Arapahoe (is that right??). I think this is the address: 8585 E. Arapahoe Road Greenwood Village, CO 80111 I know that Dee can't make it due to her work schedule. Who will be there? I will be there, along with AmythestJade (Gina). Let me know who all is coming so I know how many gorgeous women to look out for!!! I don't want anyone left out.
  20. Dee, what a beautiful new picture in your avatar!!! So great to see your smiling face!!! I'm not sure if I gave you a goal for the :heart:Day challenge. Put me down for -10. My second fill is on the 9th (same as Julie Ann!) and I'm really looking forward to it. I think my first fill worked well for about a week, and outside of that one week, I had this uncontrollable urge to eat everything. But like some of you said, having lost 1lb between Thanksgiving and Christmas is a blessing, because normally it would have been tenfold in the other direction!! Julie Ann, about your fill. How much did Dr. K give you at your first fill? I got 3.2cc and only felt it for about a week out of the last four weeks. You're certainly lucky to feel the kind of restriction that you do! I've been able to eat thin crust pepperoni like it's nobody's business! :cool2: I would suggest calling Dr. K and explaining to him how you're feeling right now, and ask his opinion. Driving 8hrs is certainly a lot to go through if you don't really need the fill. But then again, what happens if your restriction goes away next week, and you can't get another fill appointment for a month? She said they were booked out through the month of December when we were there on Dec 5th, so it's possible they're already full for January. I think the best thing to do would be call Dr. K and get his professional opinion. I certainly hope to see you on Friday!! Ladies, last night I had a moment of clarity. I have been couponing lately (DH is proud I'm trying to save money!!), and as a result came across coupons for $3 off 1 pint of Ben & Jerry's. I printed 2 of them, shame shame shame. Moment of weakness. Well, at my local grocer last night, I noticed that Ben & Jerry's was on sale for $3. With a $3 coupon, it became free!!! So, I opened the door and grabbed 2 pints of the One Cheesecake Brownie without even thinking. I got about 3 steps away from the freezer and stopped. I went back, put down the Cheesecake Brownie flavor, and I picked up the Cherry Garcie frozen yogurt ~ nearly half the calories. I went to the register and I was so proud of myself!!! Now, if only I hadn't printed those coupons, I never would have bought anything. :tt2:
  21. Wow, her profile says she hasn't logged in since December 10th. :tt2:
  22. My :heart:Day goal is 10lbs. My 2nd fill is Friday Jan 9th so hopefully that'll give me restriction for more than a few days, haha. Thanks for doing this Dee!
  23. Mini, put me down for +0.6 for this week. I don't even know why I started this daggone challenge. By my calculations, I lost 1lb in 6 weeks. I'm gonna go eat ice cream and cry.
  24. Me too Munchie!!!! Super excited!!! Did you book your flights yet? Cuz once you do, there's no turning back!!! :cursing:
  25. This has me so tickled!!! I'm in for the -Day Challenge! Mini, I weighed in this morning but my spreadsheet is on my work computer. I'll post my loss (but I don't think there is one) tomorrow morning.
