  1. Wow, how awesome is that? I guess you're one of those that lives in CO? Do you work at one of his hospitals or something? That's so cool that he remembers you. I can imagine he has lots and lots of band patients.

    This is about my husband

OK, I have two perspectives to share - neither of which are very appealing, and I'm sorry for that ahead of time. One perspective mirrors what I went through several years ago, and one perspective is what my mom went through. First, I was 18 and he was 21. We spent most of my senior year of HS together, and when I went to college we stayed together. Even though I was living on campus, I was still in the city, so it's not like I moved away. I was a size 20 when I started school, and a size 12 less than 3 months later. I lost a lot of weight that first semester because I had to walk everywhere and I was so busy all the time. Well, he started thinking I was cheating on him because I was so "hot" whereas before I had more weight on me and wasn't as attractive to other guys. He was insecure that he wasn't a college student, and that I'd find some other college student to date and that I'd dump him. I assured him how much I loved him, but to no avail - he still brought up infidelity at every chance. This caused us to fight more and more. Then I found out - he was cheating on me. He'd been cheating on me since the beginning of the semester with someone he worked with. He had been accusing me of cheating on him for 4 months, when all along, he was the guilty one. The moral of this story - Guilty dog barks the loudest. OK, the perspective I have from my mom's situation is different. My stepdad was extremely insecure because his first wife cheated on him. My mom was the best woman he could ever have asked for. She took in his children into our home because their mother was ill-fit to be their full-time provider. She treated his sons like her own, and they loved her for it. She never once cheated on him, but he always accused her of it, and got extremely jealous over little things. Because he had been cheated on before, it was obvious that he assumed all women were cheaters and that my mom was also a cheater. He never cheated on her, but his insecurity and jealousy ultimately ended their marriage after about 8 years. The moral of this story - If a man has been cheated on by at least one woman he loved, then he will always have that thought in the back of his mind, no matter what you say or do to convince him otherwise. Now, after all that typing, let me just say that I'm not a doctor, haha. I'm simply relaying two experiences in my life that I think are relevant to your current situation. More than likely, neither of these situations is your situation. I just wanted to give you a few perspectives to look at! I hope your situation gets better! Remember, even if he's insecure with your weight loss, you are doing this for you and you shouldn't feel bad about it ever. You have to do what's best for you so you can be around for your kids for a very long time.
  12. Click the MULTIQUOTE button on each reply that you want to quote. Once you've selected all the ones you want, click NEW REPLY in the bottom left and PRESTO! A reply box comes up with every quote that you selected. You just have to read each one to figure out where one starts and the other stops, but I'm pretty sure there's at least one line in between each quote, so it's easy to reply to each one. I hope that helps!!!
  13. I haven't even begun to look for a fill doctor, and I'm worried about the hunt for one. There are the Fill Centers USA people, but of the 3 offices that are "close" to me, the closest is still over a 2hr drive. I wish local doctors would do it, but I'm guessing that's off-limits for most of them. Which makes sense - I just wish it wasn't like that.
  14. There are several loans available online for this type of thing, and that's how I am able to finance my band because insurance wouldn't have covered it for me either. It's do-able, it's just going to cost a little more now. Don't get so discouraged! You will find a way, I'm sure. Good luck, and keep us updated!
  15. Wow, that's so impressive. 6 months and 70lbs!!! Here's hoping I can be so lucky. For my height (5'8") they say I should be about 160lbs. Well, I've been down as low as 175lbs my freshman year of college, and I was a hottie - if I do say so myself. I probably could have lost a few pounds if I wanted to, but I was wearing a size 12 and actually looked and felt really great. So ultimately I want to get back to 175lbs, and I'm at 250lbs now. If I can do that in 6mos I think I'll fly back to Dr. K in CO and give him a big wet kiss!!!
  16. So glad you're feeling better today!
  17. Hey Tally, how much of your weight lost was pre-op, and how much have you lost since your surgery? One thing that sort of frustrates me on this site is that people keep track of how much weight they've lost in their tickers, but it almost always includes their pre-op weight as well as post-op weight, so I never can tell how much they lost after the surgery. That's one thing I can't stop thinking about - just how much will I lose in the first month? The first 6 months? I'm dying to know if I'll be in Onederland by bathing suit season, lol. I know that everyone is different, and that is so annoying. But I'm convinced that quitting sodas and beer will make my weight loss in the first month outstanding!
  18. At least your days aren't spent in an office.
  19. My days have gotten significantly less productive since I found this board!:smile:

self-pay people in NC - how much??

Hey! I've actually done lots more research since posting this thread, and have made my appointment with Dr. K for 11/5!! I'm considering flying back and forth for fills as well. There are so many Dr. K patients out there! You should join us in the official Dr. K thread over in the Doctors forum.
  21. HEY HEY! How do you like my new User Title?? I hope everyone gets it. Else they might think I'm some crazy person who wets herself a lot!
  22. Depending on how far the walk is from the Rental Car Return to the Terminal at Denver Airport, I might actually ask for a wheelchair! But I know that the walking will really do me good. I might just force myself to walk, and just walk really slowly. We've got a 2hr layover in Atlanta on the way back home to NC, so hopefully that'll be enough time to slowly make my way from one gate to the next.
  23. Haha, as far as my husband's wallet is concerned, you told me to go First Class, because I'd be so uncomfortable in Coach that it would make me nauseous. :frown:
  24. good morning ladies! wow, what a great little bit of discussion - mastectomies, full diapers, truck stops - OH MY! my question is - what kinda mobility did you have 48hrs after surgery? i'm having my surgery at 10am on a wednesday, and flying out at 11am on a friday. am i going to be able to navigate through an airport with ease, or is it going to be the most torturous thing i've ever done? i've heard day 3 seems to be the worst post-op, so i'm hoping day 2 isn't that bad! thank goodness i was told to take first class flights back home - it's costing an extra $600 but i think i'll be much more comfortable that way.
