Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
jmegirl replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Wow, I haven't ever been that low. At least not since 8th grade!! I had my heart set on 180lbs. I was down to 175lbs when I was 19 (my freshman year of college) and I was a super hottie then. I don't think I'll be able to get that low again though. But, you never know! At 175lbs I was a size 12, so just barely out of the "plus size" realm but I still looked good - I looked healthy. I think I'm just big-boned. All you nurses out there, is big-boned real, or is it just something fat girls tell themselves? :girl_hug: -

You know Dee, a year ago you'd probably have purchased the whole cheesecake, and not just a slice. Am I right? Is cheesecake not, like, better than sex???? :girl_hug: But seriously, way to go buying only one slice. I look forward to the drastic change in my appetite. Why oh why can't I just get banded tomorrow???? -

OK I'm trying to wrap my head around what you're saying here, and I'm going cross-eyed. Can you explain how to do the math again? Or, can you do mine??? :girl_hug: Now, granted my scale is going to be way off, because it's late and I've had ice cream AND macaroni and cheese today. But hey, it's a start. And if you tell me how to do the math, then when I get a more accurate weight and fat % in the morning, then I can do it on my own tomorrow. I'm currently 258lbs and it says 55% body fat. Oh god, I've gained at least 10lbs in the last 3 weeks since I made my appointment with Dr. K. OK do the math Mini. I'm gonna go cry. -

Hey, as a fellow NC'er, I'll go ahead and reply to your question about distance. New Bern and Havelock are far east, near the beach. I'm just outside of Raleigh, which is about 3hrs west of the New Bern/Havelock area, and Shelbi is about 2hrs west of me, if I recall correctly. So here's a thought! Shelbi - drive east. Munchie - drive west. I won't go anywhere and we can all meet here (in the middle) for an RR date! On November 15th I'll be 10 days post-op and just barely back to work. I'm sure I'd need a night out of the house by that time. But in all seriousness, if you two decide to do some sort of NC get-together let me know. -

Newly Banded and SO many questions!!!
jmegirl replied to suzking's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The reason the band works is because it keeps all the food you eat from going straight into your stomach. It keeps it in this little pouch, and once the little pouch is full, it signals to you that you're full, and you can stop eating. Slowly the food will make its' way through the band and into the stomach, and then you'll be hungry again, but this whole process takes awhile. If you drink while you eat, then it moistens the food you're eating, thus making it easier for the food to go through the band. The faster the food goes through the band, the less time you'll stay full, and the more often you'll be hungry. This is why it's important to refrain from drinking while you're eating. -

Aww, thanks for the kind words. I can understand getting sidetracked by the Nasty Banana Man. We went out tonight with friends and I've thought of nothing else! Hey, I've got this one toy (from my single days) called the Blue Dolphin that is sooooo worth the C batteries you put in it. I highly recommend it! Something tells me that Naughty Banana Man and Nasty Humping Banana People don't hold a candle to the Blue Dolphin! -

Will do. Now I just need to find a Der Wienerschnitzel and we'll be all set. Pssh, who needs birth control when you're depressed? That's control enough, I tell ya. I'm lucky my husband loves me, that's for sure. Because if this marriage was based on sex, it would be O-V-E-R....FOSHO! :cool2: -

Yea but no chewing gum? What's the reasoning behind that? I understand the straw thing, and the no carbonation thing, but the chewing gum thing is sorta weird. -

I'll be on my pre-op low-carb diet, so I'm not really sure what I'll eat! And by that time I'll have quit sodas, so I may just end up with Water and a ceaser salad - but I'll be there with bells on!!! Also, I haven't read anything about an October get-together. -

Anyone Being Banded in November???
jmegirl replied to Lcubed's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lap-Band Support Groups >Monthly Lap-Band Support Groups >>2008 Bandsters >>>November 2008 There are only a few threads in there right now, including a thread where we tried to decide on a Group Name, before finally deciding on Notorious Novembers. I imagine once we get closer to November the forum will pick up a little. -

What the world needs now, is LOVE, sweet LOVE! It's the only thing, that there's just too little of!! I love that song.... Also, I'm SOOO super happy that I don't have to go into surgery nail-less. I've gotta be naked with all my big fat naughty bits hanging out - the least he can allow me is a nice manicure/pedicure!!! Maybe I should get my hair done... -

Ladies, a quick question regarding fake nails...LOL I have gel nails, and have had them for years. Will I need to have them taken off for surgery??? :crying:
