Let me know if you have questions for Dan and I'll be sure to ask!!!

Daniel is just one of the front desk people at Gold's, definitely not a trainer. He's lost about 120lbs right now though, I'm not sure where he was when he left the show. But it's about 3mos until the finale so he's still got a lot of time left. Of course the show we're about to see next week was filmed back in December I believe, so it's been several months since it was taped. Obviously since Daniel has been home this whole time, I seriously doubt he's the one who gets back onto the ranch next week. Though I suppose he might have gone back to the ranch for a week or two and gotten eliminated again. Who knows. He'll tell me anything I wanna know EXCEPT who got eliminated and who is still left on the ranch. Actually, just about two weeks ago all the finalists went home. The finale is May 12th. He told me another funny story that I'll share with everyone. The producers told them to yell out when they were about to vomit, so the camera crew could get there in time to film it. He said if he was on the treadmill and had to puke, he'd yell out and then run to the window - and by the time he got to the window, there'd be a camera guy there to film it all. It's amazing the stuff this kid has told me. I'm so glad I met him!!

Daniel told me a story that I just have to share with you guys. The Gold's Gym is in the same parking lot as a McDonald's. Daniel was working one morning and walked over with $2 in his hand to get a large coffee. That's all he planned to order. He walked in and the manager was there ringing him up and told him to get out. Refused to sell him "this shit" because he didn't need to be eating it if he wanted to lose weight and become the Biggest Loser! :tt2: Daniel was like, "Umm, I just want a coffee dude." The manager says, "Oh OK then, here ya go, on the house. Good luck!!!" :cursing::w00t:

Daniel, the orange team member this season who was the heaviest the show had ever had, works at my Gold's Gym! He and his best friend David live in my area. Daniel has lost some serious weight! I've picked his brain about all things Biggest Loser, and he's really nice and loves answering my questions. I talk to him every time I go up there, though he only works 3 days a week. I told him about the Lap Band and surprisingly he was very stoked for me, and asked me lots of questions about how it's working for me and all that. Cool kid! Oh, and I mentioned that I thought Bob was gay. Daniel told me that Bob is gay, but so is Jillian!!! :cursing:

I postponed my fill from March 27th to April 10th. I still feel a little restriction, even though I'm getting hungry sooner and sooner after meals. But flights/hotels/cars are just so expensive right now, it's tough to dig into the pocketbook and pay to get out there. But, I'll be in town Thursday night April 9th (but probably not until late) and then Friday morning I'll have my fill around 10am. Not sure what time I'll be flying out, but it'll be sometime Friday afternoon. -

Yay! Welcome to the loser's bench!!! It looks like I'll be back in the office for my 4th fill on March 27th. My weight loss has stalled again, this time only working for about two weeks after my fill. So frustrating, but I'm eating less and less so I guess that's good. -

I've really gotten into the habit of having a Grande Skinny Caramel Latte every morning. 120cals, so it's really not that bad, but typically the espresso keeps me going and I end up not eating until lunch. Then I usually have a small afternoon snack, and then dinner. Well, I think the reason my weightloss has slowed (and stopped) the last few weeks is because I've had a latte nearly every single morning, even on the weekends! As a result, I'm not eating Breakfast. Sure I'm having the steamed milk in my latte, but that's not actual food, and this might be why my weightloss is stopping. Because I'm going too long between meals - with dinner around 7pm and then lunch not until almost 12pm the following day. Think this could be part of my problem, or am I just grasping at straws here? -

How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

I think alot of us make the mistake of not eating enough. We've all got this mindset that eating too much got us here, so if I eat next to nothing then I'll certainly lose weight. This is not true!! WannaB, I wanted to suggest to you that you were probably so restricted that you were taking in way less than your optimal daily calories, which results in your body reverting to starvation mode and holding onto every calorie you eat - resulting in absolutely no weight loss. But, last time I tried suggesting something to a fellow Bandster you got upset with me - so I didn't suggest it to you. Now that you're eating more each day you're starting to see the scale move, and that's great! Just remember, 1000 to 1200 calories per day is ideal for us bandsters, and any less than that could cause our weight loss to plateau and/or stop. -

I'm so glad you posted that. You saved me the time of having to type out something similar. I signed up for this whole thing knowing that it would be a partnership - Me and My Band. I didn't expect to lose weight without a serious modification of my diet and exercise plans. I couldn't modify my diet properly without a little help, which is why I chose the surgery. Too many people in this thread (and even more throughout this site) were just expecting this miracle obesity cure, and when they don't get it, they get mad at the Band. The Band works just fine, once it's properly filled. It restricts how much and how often you eat. It doesn't make you eat protein instead of carbs. It doesn't stop you from getting a milkshake. It doesn't force you to get on the treadmill instead of taking a nap. It just helps you, but you only get out of it what you put into it. I've only lost 21lbs and it's been 17 weeks today. I'm in the 1-2lb/week range and I'm happy. I couldn't be happier! This is still the best decision I've ever made, and it breaks my heart to see so many of us Novembers cursing their decisions and lamenting about how little weight they've lost. It's only been 4 months. It's been said a million times, but I'll say it again. I didn't gain this weight in 4 months, so I'm damn sure not gonna lose it in 4 months. But, without the Band I wouldn't have even lost the 21lbs that I have, so I am grateful and I thank God every day for blessing me with the opportunity to get this wonderful gift. -

Well ladies, my fill has helped (for now) and I'm -2.6 this week!!!!:thumbup: JulieAnn, just a suggestion that you put a minus (-) in front of our weightloss numbers. Though we hate it, there may be weeks where we :tt2: gain, and we'll need to notate those with a plus (+) sign, so we may as well note the losses with a minus sign! Just a suggestion, you do it any way you like. I'm just dancing in my chair that I've lost 2.6lbs!!!!:laugh: I'm really starting to notice a difference in my face and neck/shoulders area. Alas, not much else has changed. All in due time.... -

Roasted Edamame Salad ~ YUMMO! After I've prepared the salad I pack it away in the fridge in small single-serving containers. When I go to eat it again, I take it out of the fridge and let it set for 30mins before I eat it, so it's closer to room temperature. That's how I like it! Eating it straight out of the fridge when it's really cold is not as enjoyable for me. Also, when preparing it, I add more oil and vinegar than listed in the recipe, but probably because I use more edamame than called for. The frozen bag of edamame I buy is 3 cups, so I use more corn, oil, and vinegar to compensate. Mini ~ You poor thing! I can see how you wouldn't realize what you were getting into until you were already in over your head! :tt2: I'm so sorry you felt horrible all day! Hope today you're back in tip-top shape and kicking that cold. It's almost time for Mexico! I'm super jealous!!! Dee ~ Bless you for being able to do nights and get paid for it! The money sounds fabulous but I don't think I could pull it off. I like my regular schedule, I like my weekends - I'm just so spoiled by my daytime job! Sooooo, yesterday I almost died, seriously. OK maybe I didn't almost DIE, but I was SOOO scared for about 5 minutes. Like Mini, I've had a terrible cold this week. I've been coughing for pretty much 5 days straight, with barely any reprieve. Yesterday I was sucking on my cough drop, as I've been doing for several days, when I got into this horrible coughing fit. I inhaled sharply and  the cough drop went straight down my throat!! I hadn't been sucking on it long and I knew it was WAY too big to go through the band. I immediately stopped coughing and I didn't swallow at all, causing it to literally lodge in my throat without going down. I didn't know what to do! Swallow is first instinct, but not with the band it isn't! Mind you, I'm sitting at my desk in my office and no one realizes what has just happened to me. I put my hand over my mouth and cough/gag and try like hell to get it up, and after 3 or 4 tries it works - out pops that blasted cough drop. I went into the bathroom and cried for about 5 mins, I was so scared!! I have no idea what would have happened had I actually swallowed that cough drop, but dangit it scared me straight. I will never eat hard candy or cough drops again!!!! Gum is out of the question from here on out!!! -

Ladies, do any of you like edamame? It's very yummy, and so high in protein that I have been on the lookout for recipes. Well, I saw this on Food Network and it is SO good! I highly recommend you try it if you enjoy edamame as a high protein snack or meal! :tt2: I used frozen edamame and frozen sweet corn kernals, and I nixed the basil. Fabulous!! Roasted Edamame Salad Ingredients 12 ounces fresh or frozen shelled edamame, about 2 cups 1/2 cup fresh corn kernels, about 2 ears of corn 1/4 cup finely diced scallion 1 clove garlic, minced 1 tablespoon olive oil 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1 cup chopped fresh tomato 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar Directions Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Place the edamame, corn, scallion, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper into a 13 by 9 metal pan and stir to combine. Place on the middle rack of the oven and roast for 10 to 15 minutes, just until the edamame begins to brown. Remove from the oven and place in the refrigerator until completely cool, approximately 30 minutes. Add the tomato, basil and vinegar to the edamame mixture and toss to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning, as desired. Serve chilled or at room temperature. -
