Healthy choices for the Mushies phase?
jmegirl replied to jmegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mom2two and I had surgery on the same day! i had 3 days of Clear liquids, then 11 days of full liquids - so liquids the first 2 weeks. i also just started mushies for 1 week, then soft foods for 1 week, then i'm free! each doctor has different plans for pre- and post-op so i suggest you follow your doctor's orders. one thing that has amazed me throughout this whole process is the drastic difference in pre- and post-op doctor's orders! it's crazy! they're all placing the same band, so i don't understand why everyone has a different plan. -

so what exactly is a ricotta bake? i did a google search and found some recipes, but i wanna make sure it's the same thing you're referring to. the recipes online make it sound like a big block of baked cheese, similar to baked brie...i just wanna double check that's what you're talking about! -
How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
jmegirl replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's so nice to see people reporting in well after surgery! Hooray for our new life! :tongue2: PS - Kaitiana, you've got to tell me when your book comes out. Is it fiction? What genre? I'd love to read it! :rolleyes2: -

Yay, congrats! I'm so glad your experience in MX was good. Keep us posted! :rolleyes2: -
I had my surgery on a Wednesday. I went back to work (from home) on Monday - so that's 5 days? That Monday while I was working from home, I had the music blasting and was singing at the top of my lungs, off and on, for several hours. I love to sing :tongue2: and I figured it was a good way to get my deep breathing in (as instructed by the doctor - they gave me an aspirator to breathe in for 7 days). I didn't have any problems carrying a tune, and we're close in age, so as long as you practice deep breathing as soon as you're out of surgery, I'd say by Day 5 you should be good to go! :rolleyes2:

Surgery with a slight cold?
jmegirl replied to trayrenee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fever and/or chest congestion are the only things they worry about. If you have neither, you're good to go! :rolleyes2: Good luck! -
I'm curious to know if you've had any progress with this? Have things gotten better for you, or are they going to remove your band?

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
jmegirl replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
It's going to be 22 tonight in NC too! I can't believe Florida is going to be that cold! We actually had the briefest of snow flurries this afternoon. Of course, the sun was shining the whole time and nothing stuck to the ground. :rolleyes2: -

You are so funny Dee. He says he looks fat in that picture and is mad that I posted that one. Fat?!?!? He's got a "fat complex" worse than mine! Hmmph, MEN! He just wants to impress all you fine ladies, that's all. -

Yes Dee, listen to the Mama Squirrel-Elect  Eat your calories each day! We all know the body goes into starvation mode if it doesn't get enough nutrients each day! Being back at work has been great. I'm feeling awesome, and people at the office who don't even know what I had done have been commenting that I look "great". So obviously I'm doing something right! I guess I'm just exuding a lot more postive vibes now. I'm sure I am - I'm as happy as a 6 year old on Christmas morning! -

YAY! I'm so glad you enjoyed them! There is another version my husband makes, which uses any kind of nut butter and omits the cream cheese - but that obviously increases the calories/fat. I prefer them that way, but if I make these, I'll definitely be going the cream cheese route just to skip the extra calories. I'm on a mission here! Banana flavor protein powder? Gosh, that sounds like it would be fabulous mixed with strawberry protein powder. What brand is it??? Or is it actually the GNC brand? -

I'm sorry, but I'm really  over here. You keep typing TICKLER instead of TICKER, and well, it's making me tickled. :w00t: -

jmegirl replied to aloudwhisper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You got your ticker working!!! I hear you about wanting something hardy, something you can eat off a plate! I did a bad thing last night. It's the first time I cheated! My husband made his dinner - grilled chicken breast, black Beans, and yellow rice. And he put this chicken flavored seasoning on the rice and beans, with a little bit of hot sauce - and I just couldn't resist. I took his fork and ate 3 small bites. I chewed like my life depended on it! Boy, was it good. Too good, actually. My husband said the beans really weren't that good, but I wanted real food so badly that they tasted like heaven on a fork, hahaha. Now, I'm not suggesting you do this! After those 3 bites, on top of the 1/2 cup of cream of broccoli I'd just eaten - whoa. I took one big gulp of crystal light and I actually felt it stop at the bottom of my esophagus and slowly (we're talking about 15 seconds) work it's way down. My pouch was full! It was the coolest thing I've ever experienced, haha. -

Don't get too scared, but you definitely need to prepare yourself. Once you get your band, you'll have at least a week of liquids only - this helps your stomach heal from surgery without doing too much digesting. Plus you'll be swollen and unable to eat as much anyways. I've seen some have as much as 3 weeks of liquids. -

jmegirl replied to aloudwhisper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, it's showing just the web address. Go back to the ticker website, log in to see your ticker, and copy/paste the web address they give you under the heading "bbCode". Looks like you've copied the wrong one. -

jmegirl replied to aloudwhisper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe you need something thicker? I have been taking all those cream soups (Cream of Mush, Cream of Broccoli, Cream of Chix, etc) and mixing two different flavors together with milk, and then blending them in the Magic Bullet to break up the chunks. Using less milk makes them thicker, and I find that satisfies me for longer. You've made it this far, don't give up now! -
Notorious November Weightloss Spreadsheet
jmegirl replied to Froggi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you this negative all the time? How about that 100 word post of yours yesterday, when you sincerely () apologized for "stealing" someone's glitter word, going on and on about how stupid the whole thing was? Was that not rude and sarcastic? Don't act that way towards someone else if you can't take it yourself. With that said, I'm sorry you (and I) got so worked up over this whole glitter word thing, because it really doesn't amount to a hill of beans. I wish you the best in your surgery, and tell your daughter she did a fabulous job on that glitter word! -

Eat something other than soup! I'm on full liquids until Thursday, and my doctor has allowed me watered down grits and sugar free pudding/jello in addition to Soups. You can do it! Only a few more days!!! -
Notorious November Weightloss Spreadsheet
jmegirl replied to Froggi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you look at my post, I was simply replying to someone else's post. They stirred the pot, not me. I was simply trying to clarify that nothing is wrong with the way Froggi or myself reacted. It's the internet, who cares?! We would rather have our own unique glitter word - so what?! If it makes us childish - that's fine! If it makes us anal retentive - that's fine too! Instead of posting negatively about the whole situation, she just sent you a PM and asked you to remove it. She didn't come back here and bad-mouth you (or anyone else for that matter) so I don't see why you are getting so bent out of shape. Sheesh. I sincerely hope you're only this crabby because you're off your Nicorette and struggling through a pre-op diet. PS - Discussing a glitter signature isn't nearly as tacky as boasting about a successful business and 6-figure salary. I'm just saying. -
I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
jmegirl replied to Cappy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel great! Fabulous, really. It's funny - there's only a few people in my office that know I got the band. But in the last week, people who don't know what I had done have mentioned how "great" I look. Several have noticed a drastic difference just in how I carry myself and how happy I act all the time. It's crazy! This is by far the best decision I've ever made in my life! Now, those 10 bites of banana pudding I had an hour ago - NOT such a good idea. I made the mistake of eating the ONE vanilla wafer in my bowl! -

jmegirl replied to Froggi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's not a problem, just a preference (by some) to have a unique glitter signature. I think a few of you have blown it out of proportion really. There's so many sites out there that allow you to create your own glitter word, so why would you want to use someone else's when you can be creative and make your own? Anyways, it's not a big deal. In the grand scheme of things, it's quite small potatoes compared to what we're all really here for - moral support in our effort to lose weight and lead happier, healthier lives.
