    macros during post op diet

I was told by dietician to not worry on calories, protein and water. But trend to fat tg and carbs 15g when you did select something. Eating 1/3 cup meat and top to 1/2 cup with cooked veggies, once in a while a small piece of baked potato. Have lost 40# in 6 weeks from day of surgery.

    Regrets ?

I am moving to regular food off off soft. I've tried garlic chicken mushroom pizza. Scraping it off the crust, measuring it to 1/3-1/2 cup. Just tried curry chicken, no rice...1/3 c chicken add curry sauce to 1/2 c total. I'm going to Indian buffet for lunch next week. No nan-bread. Plan on mostly meat and sauce add veggies, little potato. Seasonings warm like medium taco sauce is okay. I will eat my portion and take home the rest, probably 3 more meals.

    Before and After Pics

I started getting my energy back when I got to soft foods. I've never felt fatigue before. 3 weeks post op. I almost.legt my grocery cart at checkout and go home as I could barely stand up any more. Decided then to shop for a few things and checkout. Putting them away takes even more energy. So going back another day. Even next, gave me steps and I didn't get so fatigued.

Feel I'm like i'm overdoing it..

I'm moving from soft stage to regular food and measure 99% of each meals portion, 1/2 cup. There are a few times that I felt full towards end of portion, with meat. Think I will keep measuring as much as I can. Plan to move towards 1cup after 6 months.
  7. 6 weeks. When I went to soft foods, measuring every thing to 1/2 cup. 1/3 cup protein, 1/8 cup veggie and 1/8 cup carb. I'm filling more satiety of food and this new life. Found Jenni ground turkey taco seasoned, scrambled eggs with turkey sausage patties diced. I have a few puree meals still frozen as backup if my new food not agreeing with me. But this is also a noticeable hunger that hasn't been there for last 6 weeks.

    I’m HUNGRY!

Doing Noom the year before my 10/19 surgery it encouraged if hungry drink water and wait 20 minutes. Now I try the same. I find a protein shake works. It also gets me 30g protein. Either a good first choice. But I eat 5x day. I'm eating 1/3 cup meat 4x day or eggs for breakfast. 1/8 cup vegetable or baked yam or potato. My meat is 93% ground beef or Jenni ground turkey taco or Italian seasoned. Add guacamole and salsa to first and marinara to second.

    October 2022 surgery support

My surgery was Oct 19 and almost through soft foods. I still measure every meal. I have a 14 oz glass that I goal to drink 4 of. Try to eat every 2 hours. One protein shake a day. Just getting my energy back. Dec 13 I go to any food. Will skip steak bread for a.year. try one food a day. So far only had fast heart rate the second week. Spices don't bother me. Found ground turkey (Jenni) taco or Italian flavored, turkey sausage and looking forward to turkey bacon. 93% ground beef is treating me fine. Eating 1/2 cup, measured each meal, 5x day. Take the container when I eat out. I have a card party at Denny and Perkins. Omelet, tomato soup. Will continue with protein shake for the first year to maintain protein until I get to 1 cup.

Cheated for the 1st time since surgery

I did a year of Noom the year before surgery. Lost 30#, 80% low carb and small portions. 20% was eat the hell you want but small portions. You need to feel satiety. So 2 meals a week it is free game.
  12. I found beef broth doesn't have as much protein as chicken broth. I flavored it with taco seasoning, a Buffalo seasoning, smoked paprika.... Neighbor made French onion soup, strained, it was delicious. But mostly I had cambell or lipton chicken noodle soup strained broth. Threw away the noodles chicken. I later moved to cream of chicken soup with dry milk powder to add protein.

    Stepper for exercise

My surgery date was 10/19 and only after a week or two of soft foods did I get some energy. Started using my treadmill.
  14. I tried several brands and found Fairlite chocolate the best. There were brands and flavors: Carmel, Cinnamon Swirl, strawberry, and vanilla ( which I added extracts).

    Protein Intake

I use powdered milk to liquidify my food in blender during my puree stage. Extra protein. Patience.

    Protein Intake

I am 6 weeks post surgery. I swear by fairlite protein drinks. 30g protein or Muscle milk has a 40g. I plan to drink them for the whole year. I set a 15 minute timer on my phone and drank 1 oz water. Found room temperature was best not cold. I found sugarless skittles flavoring for water. Green apple and grape are great. I drank my protein drink 1 ounce an hour.

    What am I doing wrong?

Great. I lost 33# the first month then a stall for 2 weeks now. I now am getting enough energy with soft foods so set up my treadmill. I will rejoin my gymn membership in January. Plan to do some mall browsing to get steps in. Just got my fitbit out. For 5 days the 4th week, no scale movement and then bam 3#. I guess patience, hydrate and protein while getting to enjoy life is key. Scale 2x a week.
  18. I'm 6 weeks out and tried topping of cheese pizza first. Last week tried garlic chicken and mushrooms, just the topping. Very good. A small pizza, 2 slices topping measured unto my 1/2 cup tale home container.

    What am I doing wrong?

Patience. I go for a week or so nothing then bam down #3. Try some.of your previous clothes that gave me motivation. My pants were baggy in butt and thighs.
  20. I had my surgery Oct 19. I bought twenty 1/2 cup containers. I measure everything before I eat it, even in restaurants. Just moved to 1/2 cup. I eat every 2 hours. I drink a protein drink 4 oz every 15 minutes. I have a large sippy cup, 14 oz that I drink 3 of each day. I bought 4 large ice cube trays at Walmsrt, 1/2 cup to freeze and put in ziplock bag, portion sized when I take out a cube for a meal. I browned #2 ground turkey taco seasoned and put 1/3 cup in each, topped with guacamole. Same with Italian, topped with marinara and 2 cooked cheese tortellini. Turkey chili.
