I was banded in Jan 09 and was always a slow loser and I am ok with that. I lost about 50 lbs and sustained that weight for a long time. I was happy to be under 200! Then we moved to another state for my husbands job and since then (may 2010) I have gained 15 lbs and back over 200 again! I am in need of a fill but the closest doctor is 70 miles away and will only see me on Mondays. I only get Friday/Saturdays off from work so I never went to see the new doctor. I am upset with myself for gaining weight and I have no motivation anymore. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week and eat salads for lunch everyday like a good girl but the weight is slowing creeping up still! I have my 10 year reunion coming up next summer and I need some support. Any ideas to get me back on the wagon?!

I have a road trip coming up in a few months. This will be a big 4 day drive there and 4 days back. I will pack my own healthy foods and we will try to stop at good restaurants so I can order healthy. I just know at one time or another we will have to stop and get fast food or gas station Snacks. My question to you is what are some healthier and reasonably bandster friendly food I can order? I know some people can and cannot handle breads and so on but I just want to know what you all think are healthier choices.

I agree that you shouldn't let them use your image for something you arent even associated with. I think the question everyones wondering but not asking....How much did they offer you?

BellaBean replied to wintobethin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me 3 weeks for me to get back my 'pee trigger' I never needed to go but after 4 hours or so I would go pee just incase. After surgery ot took me about 6 hours to finally go other than the one time in the hospital. -

This ABYSS is FURIOUS!---HELP WITH PEOPLE!

I can relate! I feel that being bigger I am like the freaking plague! No one talks to you, you get looks but not kind ones and you can tell people are snickering. I also have told no one and I know that when the weight comes off and people start with their shallow comments I will be just as upset as you are now. There is so much more to WLS then just weight loss! There is major mind games to deal with! Just know it is normal and you can work through it. As for that girl you stopped talking to....You should talk to her. She must like you for you, right? Maybe explain to her your fear and tell her you used to be bigger. You dont have to mention WLS to her. I think she may understand why you do the things you do and it could strengthen the relationship. Good Luck -
I know I am! I am on mushies and have been for 2 weeks or so and I am DYING to chew something! I am a picky eater and I am getting tired of eating the same 5 things over and over again! I am experiencing head hungry like everyone else is too. Man it sucks! I still have 2 weeks on mushies left and I can't wait to eat 'soft' foods! Doesnt help that my husband eats those oh so good foods. Chips and salsa is a favorite of mine and yep he eats it! He tries not to in front of me but sometimes he can hide it. He knows he is dead if he eats a burger or pizza in front of me though! The only 2 things I actually crave latley:drool:.

I had my first fill today and it was ok but not a breezie. Its stung a little when they put the numbing stuff in. Then it was numb so when she pushed on my port it felt funny. I actually giggled when she pushed on it! They tried to do it but needed a longer needle! I was spooked! So they poked me and I heard it. Like a small thud. I drank a cup of water and on liquids for 2 days now. It wasnt that bad but wish it was more pleasurable lol!

Today I tried flat soda and i feel BLEH! It didn't settle well with me one bit. I have a tightish feeling like I need to burp and it just sitting there. So never again for me! I am drinking water now to try and get that feeling to pass.

I did jump the gun a little but not by much. Even though I did it I have to say, Stick with your pre op diet. It is not worth it to damage your body for food. Every surgeon is different and there is a reason why your on the diet, no matter how hellish it can be (and I know it is!). If your worried call your nutritionist or surgeon and confess, your not going to be the first call they have had about it. GOOD LUCK!

Anyone else dying on your post op diet?

I am on to solid food tomorrow! Its been hard but damn it I did it! -
That just sounds good to eat anytime. I dont think I can take that on the road though sadly. I am so picky that I wont let food like that sit in my car for hours. I know how does my husband deal with such a picky person? All the ideas are great!

Thank you for the advice. We will try our best to stop at places like the grocery store if time allows lol!

What to eat on first day of real food??
BellaBean replied to Momoof4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started out with Chicken in a can with light mayo and crackers and chewed so well! After that my confidence in solids went up. My famliy was having spaghetti for dinner that night and I cut the noodles in tiny pieces and chewed that well. -
I miss straws as well! Everything tastes better out of a straw. My big issue though is SODA! I miss my Pepsi so bad. There is nothing better than cracking open an ice cold pepsi while watching the Super Bowl. *sigh/pout*

Eating is going ok, but I am eating the same things over and over again. I am a picky eater! I eat oatmeal for Breakfast, refried Beans for lunch, and chili for dinner. Today I went to the bowling alley and the people next to me were eating a big juicy burger....you would of thought I was going to reach over and steal it! Another thing i have noticed is how much my friends talk about food! Are you noticing that too? I honestly thought they may keep their mouth quiet for a few weeks while I get through this lol! -

Lena I will have to read your blog! I am starting soft solids in a week. I am nervous of things getting stuck or finding out the things I love (good for me foods, dont worry) wont agree with me. The only solid I slipped up on was chex. I have nibbled on a few dry chex and LOVED IT! I chewed the hell out of them to mush but still a slip up. I personally think I am ok and I have done so well with my diet that chex wont kill me. But I am still plugging along on this diet! Super Bowl Sunday is one day before I can technically start my solids diet. I am going to call my nutritionist and ask her if I can start on Sunday. -

I am 3 weeks post op and on mushies but DAMN I am hating commericals right now. The one I die on is Wendy's I want to eat a hamburger soooo bad. I am not a big meat eater and I am craving beef. After week 4 I can have hamburger meat and I feel like I cant wait that one week, but I am a good girl. -
First of all let me apologize for spelling errors, I am taking to the pain meds quite well. Also while my experiance was not great, its because of my hospital not the surgery itself. My hospital is well known for bad staff, screw ups, and has a lot of complaints filed against them. This is the only hospital for hundred of miles so it was this or nothing. So I was told that my surgery was at 10 so to show up at 7am. As soon as I walk in the door they start rushing me and ask wher I have been. I explained I was 'on time' and they informed me that I was bumped to the 8 am surgery time. Someone for got to call me....surgery went well tho. I really like my surgeon, he is an older gentleman but very nice. I went to my room where my MIL and friend were waiting for me. They put me in a room with NO pain meds and didnt come back for 2 hours. I was ok but not comfortable at all. So my friend went out and found the nurse to give me meds. I had 3 nurses through out the day OMG 2 of them were RUDE! I am going to file a complaint but thats not the subject at hand lol. so after some hours of dozing off I decided I want to walk. I call for the nurse like I was advised to and no one shows up. So my friend find the nurse again. I walk real easy and get some gas out (huge relief), I eat some and had to go pee for them to let me go home. They told me just 2 more hours and I can go home. So I decided to sleep while my MIL and friend go pick up my meds. A woman walks in and says 'the bathroom door is boke, can this man measure it so he can fix it?' I say yes. I am just in my gown and alone but figure he will be out soon and the woman would stay with him. Nope, she left and he was there for over 20 minutes walking in and out of my room NOT annoucing himself. He was mumbling numbers and keeping me awake. This began to really upset me but I just pretended to sleep so he's leave me alone. Then when I got dressed to go home I got very nausous like where your mouth starts watering in preparation to puke, so I laid down and hit the 'call for nurse' button....10 minutes later no one showed up. So I bucked up and tried it again. This time my MIL came in and I got nausous again, so I hit the button again. 10 minutes later....no one. So MIL goes and find my nurse and requests antil-nausia meds for me. I went home and have been good. Good amount of gas in my but its coming out. I have to say walking makes a big difference and so does the Gas-X strips. Even tho bad things happened I am happy! My husband is being so good to me and so are my friends who know. MIL has been a angel this whole time. I am a very lucky girl. My scars look real good with the Derma Glue only thing that hurts is my port. WORD OF ADVICE FOR AFTER SURGERY: You will have hiccups from the gas and yes it will hurt some. But its very normal I am finding out. I didnt know about them and they did give me a scare lol
