    Newbie 2B Banded on 08-28-08

Hi Colette! Congrats on being so close to surgery. Where in Oregon are you from? I am from Salem. I just started this whole process last week so I'm awaiting the call to schedule all my appointments. If you dont mind me asking, where are you going to get your surgery? And which Ins. carrier do you have? Thanks!! Good luck!!! -Rachel
  2. Hi! I'm a newbie. This question has probably been answered many times so I do apologize, but outside of Insurance (my insurance will cover the surgery) what were some of your estimated out of pocket expenses? I have BC/BS of Oregon through for state employees with a ded. of $1000 that hasnt been met yet, so I was just trying to get an estimate. Thanks!! -Rachel
  3. Hi All! Well, my name is Rachel, I'm from Salem, Oregon...I'm 22 and a whopping 287lbs. which is my highest weight yet and has prompted me to go ahead with weight loss surgery. As much as I want the physical satisfaction of being thinner, I'm just starting to worry about my health. As of now I have no health issues, but I'm afraid that as time goes on and I gain weight, that will change. I went to my first lap band session last night, got my application filled out and sent in in today. I check with my Ins. Company (BC/BS for State Employees) and weight loss surgery is a covered benefit in full which is exciting. So now...I'm just going to be waiting to hear back from the Legacy Obesity Clinic in Portland to set up all my appointments. I just hope this will actually happen for me, my struggles with weight (as everyone else can understand) has been very difficult, I've been heavy since I could walk I swear. I've been to fat camps, been on more diets than I can mentally count, diet pills, shakes...EVERYTHING! And oh, they have all worked...but only temporarily then the weight comes back....3x as much  So anyways! I'll stop blabbing, if anyone has any advice..SHOOT! Thanks! Rachel

    Newbie and need answers

Hi - I've done alot of research when it comes to Health Ins. Companies. I do believe your BMI qualifies you, but you would need to be diagnosed with either diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease. As far as what your Ins. company requires - you would need to call them directly or look online for specific reqirements. :-)
