My doctor said that most of her patients go home the first day unless like Ara said you are running a fever or had to go to the open surgery. I think it depends on your surgeon if you stay over night or not. SickNTired, thank you, yes I have someone to stay with me at night, either at the hospital or at home, my DH. He has been very supportive thru all of this. Today I am on my pre-op liquid diet and he stopped and got something to eat before he got home. Tomorrow is my BIG day and I am ready. Lone Star Loser

So - where are all the Smashing Pumpkins from??
LoneStarLoser replied to myturn0421's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I live in Austin, Texas and having surgery here in Austin, Dr. Brady at Southwest Bariatrics. I love her. Go Longhorns. Lone Star Loser -
I'm not sure about the bra. But I am wearing one of my house dresses. It's like a lounger made out of cotton. It has a nice print that you can't see thru, so I am not wearing a bra. If someone has an answer to why we need a sports bra with no wire, please let me know. If I need to wear one, please let me know. I had a colonoscopy (spelling) this year and I wore that same dress. It sure made it a lot easier to get dressed and there is no waist line to put pressure on my stomach. And I just wear my Croc slip on sandals. I am not trying to impress anyone, not yet anyway. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am. That sounds early, but I have to be at work at that time, so I am ready. The nurse from the hospital called today and said the whole procedure would take about 3 to 4 hours from the surgery time, (surgery is at 8:00 am), so I could be out of there by 12:00 noon. I hope so. I hate to stay in the hospital. Good luck to all the Smashing Pumpkins. I wish we could hear from some of the Pumpkins that had surgery today and yesterday. Lone Star Loser

Salome. It is 7:17 pm. I hope everything is well with you. I hope everything went smooth and you are on a speedy recovery. We are all thinking about you. Take care of yourself. Lone Star Loser -
Miss Undastood. I am having surgery Friday, 10-03 also. I know exactly how you feel. I think I have everything ready. I have the house cleaned, so I don't have to worry about it. I have all my vitamins, liquid tylenol, gas x strips, broth and so on and so on. Just think, surgery is just the day after tomorrow. Good luck. I hope to post Friday or Saturday. I am sure we will be fine. On our way to a healthier, slimmer and happier life. Lone Star Loser Austin, Texas Good Luck to all the Smashing Pumpkins

I know. I hate plane rides. Last year I had to fly to Nashville from Austin and it was awful. I couldn't fasten the seat belt. I was too embarrased to ask for an extention, so I put a throw blanket over my waist and legs. I kept thinking that any minute the attendant was going to come check seatbelts, or there was some kind a computer system on the seatbelts and they could tell which ones were not buckled. But not for long. I will be able to fly and ride the rides at Fiesta Texas next year. And I will have the energy to do it. Lone Star Loser

Yes, I love the summer too. I live in the water, the pool, beach, lake anything with water. We have a boat and go out all the time. Next year I won't look like a beached whale. I can't wait. Lone Star Loser (Dorothy)

Not counting today or the day of surgery, I have 2 more days until I get banded. Whoppeeeeeeeeeeee. But I am really getting nervous. But I keep thinking that this time next year, I will be a lot healthier and a lot thinner. Next Halloween I can find a costume that fits and I don't have to dress like Mimi (from Drew Carey) Everyone thought it was so funny and a good custome, but I felt fat, which I am. But inside I wanted to be something like Elvira. I am so excited. I want to do everything I am suppose to so I don't have any problems. But it will all be worth it. Later. Lone Star Loser

My doctor recommended Vita Band by Advantage vitamins. Of course they are chewable and come in differnt flavors. The hospital gave me samles and I like the Lemon Creme the best, but everyone body is different. Now I just need to make a list of all the drinks I can have that first week after surgery and go shopping. Lone Star Loser

Good Job Annecolorgreen. There are a lot of us getting banded in October. Let's all make sure we stay in touch. Lone Star Loser

Thanks Bridgette. It seems like time is slowly passing by. Next Friday is the big day. I have already got all my vitamins and the food I need after surgery. I have a bag packed just in case I have to stay over night. But I am optomistic, I'll do fine and I will be able to come home the same day. I have been doing everything I am suppose to, to get rid of the "liver fat". I can't wait to get rid of "ALL" the fat. I have been on my pre-op diet for a week now and I have already lost 8 lbs. Well, it's Saturday and I have chores to do. I'm trying to get the house all clean, so I won't have to worry about next week and after surgery. Lone Star

Does your birthday have to be in October or just your surgery date? My surgery date is October 3 but my birthday is in November. I have less than a week now before I am banded. I am soooooooooooo excited. Lone Star Austin, Texas

Anyone else Dr. Marquez in Austin????
LoneStarLoser replied to plakeway's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Plakeway. I'm doing great. I started my pre-op diet last Friday, 1 week ago, and I am down 8 lbs. I haven't had any problems staying on the low carb high protien diet at all. Believe me, I have been put to the test at work with all the food everyone brings. Today the boss bought McAllister's sandwiches, which are delicious, but I passed and ate what I had brought from home. I am too excited about next Friday, 10-03-08, my surgery date to mess it up now. I have waited too long for this. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again. Lone Star (Dorothy) -
Anyone else Dr. Marquez in Austin????
LoneStarLoser replied to plakeway's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No. The pre-op diet is very simuliar to the Adkins diet. Low carbs. You have to limit your daily carbs to 30 and at least 70 grams of protien. Since I will need protein after surgery, I am getting used to the protein drinks. I have been eating a lot of chicken, fish, turkey with a small salad, (lemon for the dressing because you need to watch your fat intake) I eat eggs also. I scramble two eggs at night and put them in a plastic bowl and microwave them for breakfast at work. I started the pre-op diet on Friday 09-19-08 and I have lost 7 pounds so far. I'm sure most of it is just water. Plus I drink ALOT of water throughout the day. I am so ready for my surgery day. I can't wait to be healthy and slimmer. Good Luck, LSL Dorothy -
Austin Area Bandsters Intersted in Support Group ?
LoneStarLoser replied to coltonwade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Mindy, Did you get the Support Group going? I live in Manchaca and I'm with you, I don't want to have to drive all the way up North, especially in the evening. I work north and I don't want to go up again. Plus, with the price of gas, it would be really great to have a support group south, way south. I haven't been banded yet, but my surgery date is October 3, 2008. I am so excited. I have been waiting for insurance to approve since November 2007. Let me know if you got the support group going. Thanks, LoneStarLoser (Dorothy) -
Anyone else Dr. Marquez in Austin????
LoneStarLoser replied to plakeway's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I see Dr. Bridget Brady. She is in the same office as Dr. Marguez. I am on my pre-op diet now. Surgery is scheduled on Oct. 3rd. I can't tell you for sure, but they probably all require the pre-op, "low carb-high protein diet". They all use the same Nutrionist, Jerry Elizondo, and he will go over all the requirements for before surgery as well as post surgery. He was so very nice as well as all the staff in that office. Good Luck. LoneStarLoser -
:tongue2:Hello everyone. I am getting banded on October 3. I have started my pre-op diet and I am very excited. My husband is excited too. He is eating the same food I am. He is a diabetic so it will do him good too. I thought my surgery date would never get set, but it is now and I can't wait to be healthy and thinner. I even went out and bought a new pair of walking shoes. My husband and I are staring to walk together. Good luck to everyone getting banded in October. LoneStarLoser:thumbup:

Abnormal EKG and surgery scheduled for 9/23
LoneStarLoser replied to AnnenOrange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Annenorange, Good luck. I'm sure things will be okay. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I'm set to go also. My surgery date is Oct. 3rd. I am following the diet close. I don't want to have to go in twice. I started my pre-op diet Friday and I have already lost 4 lbs. I'm sure that it is just water, but it makes me feel good. Get a good nights sleep and take care. LoneStarLoser (Dorothy) -
Well, all the paper work is done and I started my two week pre-op diet today. Surgery is scheduled on October 3, 2008. YeeHaaaaaaa. After the surgery and I am on my way to a new and healthier life, I want to start a new thread. But I'm not sure how to. Can some one tell me how to do it? Thanks, LSL:thumbup:

 I'm not sure I am doing this right but here goes. I started researching the lap band procedure in November 2007 and was ready to go in January 2008. On January 1, 2008 my insurance changed policies and they would not cover the surgery so I gave up. Then in August 2008 the hospital called me and said that they were calling to set up my pre-op tests. I was so excited. I called my doctor and my patient advocate said that she had just received the authorization for the surgery. I am so excited I can't sleep. My exam is Sept. 12, 2008 and hopefully I can have the surgery a couple weeks after that. I have been overweight all my life. I am miserable. I weigh 298 lbs and I am only 5'5" tall. I have done so much research and read so many success stories and I just know that I am going to make it this time. LoneStarLoser, Austin, Texas

One week post-op!
LoneStarLoser replied to SkinnyKathy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats. I'm glad to hear you are doing so well. My surgery date is 10-16-08 and I have been reading lots of things here. Some good some not so good. But I am determined to do this. I am knocking on 300 lbs and I'm ready to be skinny too. Keeip us all updated. LoneStarLoser -
Great....My approval was a long time coming, but I have it and my surgery date is set for October 16. I see my doctor this Thursday to make sure everything is okay. I did all my pre-op test last Friday. I am so excited I can't stand it. Good luck. LSL:thumbup:

Good Luck on your surgery tomorrow. I am really excited for you. My surgery is scheduled for 10-16-08 and it seems like it is soooo far away. I'll be thinking of you. Take care.

:rolleyes2:Well, I've done all the testing and my pre-op appointment with Dr. Brady is 09-18-08. My surgery is tentatively set for October 16, 2008 if everything works out with the tests. I am so excited. I think I have read everything there is to read on LapBandTalk. I am glad it's here. I have gotten some great encouragement and lots of great ideas. Thanks to all of you. LSL
