Hey Cyndi2464. I miss me Diet Pepsi. But not as much as I want to lose all this ugly fat. We can make it. I am on the mushie stage too and I do get hungry, so I just drink water or my protein water. (I mix the protein bullets with water. It flavors the water and I'm getting my protien.) I get my first fill on Oct. 29 and I can't wait. Plus by then I should be able to eat REAL food. Hang in there. We'll be "Lookin' Good" by Christmas. People can already tell I am losing, especially my face. Take care and keep up the good work. Lone Star Loser

What would happen if Barack Obama were Assasinated?
LoneStarLoser replied to TheWatcher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm sorry that you speak for others when you say "some like to discuss other things as well... in short... We dot care. " I'd like to think they do care. And as I mentioned in my post " But right or wrong, just MY opinion." Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. :tt1: I am a little confused. I thought this was a Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum? I always look forward to reading the "New Post's" on this forum. I like to hear the progress we have all made on our way to a new and healthier life. I like to hear new ideas on recipes or foods that we can try. Surely there is another FORUM to discuss Politics? I am just as concerned as the next person is on regards to "Who will our next President be". But right or wrong, just MY opinion, This Lap Band Forum is not the place. I hope everyone just banded or getting banded this week do well and have a speedy recovery. Lone Star Loser :tongue_smilie: -
Good morning. I have to have coffee in the mornings. Decaf of course. I use 2 spenda's and 2 TBSP's of Delight SF Hazelnut liquid creamer. (It only has 2 gms of carbs.) That get's me through my wake up hour. I used to drink decaf, sf pepsi's all day. I haven't really missed them so far. I was banded on Oct. 3 and I want to make sure I do everything right. I am down 24 lbs since my pre op diet. ( I keep going up a down a few lbs, but the doctor said that was normal). I'd rather get into those size 10 jeans that drink a pepsi. Good luck to everyone, especially the Smashing Pumpkins being banded this up coming week. Just think, next Halloween we won't look like a plump pumpkin, we will be slim zucchini's. Lone Star Loser

Hi Mistydaz. We were banded on the same day. How are you feeling? Have you seen any weight loss since surgery? I am feeling pretty good today but I haven't really lost much. I think yesterday was the first day that I have not had so much gas. I haven't gone back to work yet but today I went the the Fall Fest at church and I think it wore me out. There was a BBQ dinner with all the fixings and believe it or not it didn't bother me not to be able to eat it. In fact the beans made me sick just to smell them. I had my protein shake before I left and drank my water. I am in Austin, Texas. Good luck on your journey. Lone Star Loser -
MyTurn. Good luck on Monday. And the clear liquid diet for tomorrow is really not bad. I was dreading it. I thought I would die of hunger. But I drank lots of water, (added some protein bullets to it sometimes) and the day went fast. I was so excited about getting banded the next day, I didn't get hungry. I will be think of you tomorrow and Monday along with all the others getting banded on Monday. Good luck to you all and to all the Smashing Pumpkins. Lone Star

Crab legs are my FAVORITE. I am so glad that there are so many people like you out there. I'm feeling better already. I use the EAS powder that has 27 grams of protein in two scoops. I use the vanilla so that if I want to I can add some flavoring. I really like the General Mills International, Swiss Mocha. It is sugar free and decaff. I only use 1 teaspoon, but it is enough to get the shake some flavor. Thanks for listening. Lone Star Loser Too bad you are so far away, or we could go get some crab legs when we can eat them. My father was from Columbus Ohio but I don't know many of my relatives up there. My father was not close to them, so we never really met them. Oh well, I'll think of you when I eat my first crab legs. LS

Yes, I lost 16 lbs during my 2 week pre-op diet. I think that's why I don't understand why I'm not losing more now. I don't use peanut butter in my protein shakes. I use 6 oz. of soy milk, 1/2 teaspoon of General Foods International coffee, sugar free/decaf and two scoops of EAS vanilla protein powder. It really is not bad. It tastes almost like iced coffee. My doctor had me on clear liquids for the first 4 days, and then to full liquids. I think I'll do as you suggested. I'll call the doctor's office on Monday. I just don't want to be a nuisance. I know some people call the doctor's office everytime they sneeze. Thanks for the support. Sometimes just venting helps. Lone Star Loser

:sad:I was banded Oct. 3, 2008. Today I started feeling emotional. I had not lost anything since my surgery. I have done everything I was suppose to and still nothing. Oh, I lost a few pounds on day three, but I found them again plus a few. I am not hungry so that's not a problem. I was feeling sooooo good yesterday but today it is completely the opposite. I can't imagine not losing anything when I'm not really eating anything. I have my protein shakes and I mix the "protein bullet" with my water. I drink plenty of water and nothing. Also, I feel good in the mornings, but by late afternoon or evening I start having gas again. Maybe I am expecting too much too soon. I don't have my post op appointment until 10-16-08. Even if I called my doctor, that would I say, "I'm sad because I am not losing any weight"? I think this is why I didn't want to tell a lot of people that I was getting the lab band. What if it doesn't work? Enough whining. I'm sure everyone has issues. Hopefully things will be better tomorrow.

HelloPenny, GO LONGHORNS It's okay. You are still a Smashing pumpkin. "Crow" is a fowl, so if it is like chicken and Duck, it should have plenty of Protein. And that's a good thing. It's just friendly competition. Maybe next year. Lone Star Loser. -

This is Lone Star Loser. LONE STAR for the GREAT state of TEXAS. Go Longhorns. HelloPenny. I used to live in Denison, Texas. Went to High School there. My dad was in the Air Force also, and he was stationed at Perrin AFB, but it closed down. Too bad it's not still there and your husband could be stationed there. I love that area up there. After we moved on Base, I had to change schools to Sherman. Then Dad was sent to Viet Nam and we moved to Houston were all of my Mom's family is. Take care. I hope your husband gets a Texas assignment. Good Luck. Lone Star Loser -
:thumbup:Hello all my fellow Smashing Pumpkins. It has been 1 week today since I was Banded. Each day is a little better. But today I really feel great. Since the day of my pre-op appointment with my Doctor, September 18th, to today I have lost 24 lbs. My tummy is still a little bloated from surgery but I can already tell the difference. I am so confident that I am going to make it this time, I am already pulling clothes out of the closet and getting them ready for EBAY. I even went out and got a hair cut. I had about 2 inches cut off. Even though I have a long way to go, I am ready. The swelling around the band must being doing better too because I can drink my water easier. I don't get hungry but I was getting worried about getting all my water in for the day. Good luck to all the Banded Smashing Pumpkins and to the ones that are yet to come. I wish you all speedy recoveries and pleasant experiences at the hospital. My hospital stay was only for about 8.5 hours but everyone was so nice and helpful. Later, Lone Star Loser:willy_nilly:

Good luck everyone that's getting banded today and all that have already been banded. My thoughts are with you and I pray for all of your speedy recoveries. You will all do great. Lone Star Loser

Surgery yesterday - confusing nausea and hunger?
LoneStarLoser replied to SaraJaneQ's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Like everyone has said, we all heal differently and feel things a little different. On the 3rd day after surgery my tummy was growling and began to really hurt. I thought I was going to die. I am doing everything that way I was told by my surgeon, so I didn't know what to do, until I remembered many of the posts' I had read said we would get gas. So I took one of the Gas-X strips and it worked almost immediately. So now whenever I start to just THINK it may be gas, I use one and it has helped me. I had my surgery on Oct 3 and I still have that nagged pain in my left shoulder. It's not unbearable, just irritating. Lone Star Loser -
Goose, Don't get discouraged. December seems like a long way to go, but it really isn't. And even though you are not a Smashing Pumpkin, we are still behind you and we'll be here for you in December. Lone Star Loser

I heard about having gas too, so I bought the Gas-X strips. I also got some liquid Tylenol. I did not really want much broth or jello after surgery. I just made sure I drank plenty of water. And it is not easy drinking alot of water after surgery. To make sure I was getting my protien, I mixed New Whey liquid protein or any liquid protein. It flavors the water a little and not so boring. I tried the chicken broth and it was bland. So I boiled a chicken with onion, celery, carrots and just drank the broth. I added noodles for my husband and that was his dinner. I wasn't bother with bad gas until today, 4 days out. And I thought I was going to die. But the Gas-X strips work fast. Your mouth will be really dry after surgery. And the pain medicine made my mouth dry. So make sure you have some chap stick. That helped me. For me, first thing in the mornings is hard to get anything down. But I read that some people experience a tightening early in the mornings. Also, it is easier to drink liquids that are warm or room temperature. Cold feels good in your mouth, but I read that cold restricts the stomach, where warm relaxes it and makes it easier for the liquids to pass thru the stomach. If I think of anything else that I have experienced, I'll let you know. OH. I got protein powder, but I will use that later when I actually go to the shakes next week. At first all you drink are clear liquids. Good Luck, Lone Star Loser

Karen. Good Luck. You will be fine. My surgery date was Oct. 3. I was nervous until I got there and then I felt fine. The nursing staff and all the people involved were so nice. I am in Austin, Texas and had surgery at Seton Hospital. I couldn't have asked for anything to have been better. One of the nurses called today to make sure I was doing ok. Just think of it as a "procedure", not surgery. We will all be thinking of you and all the Smashing Pumpkins. Lone Star Loser

Good luck to all the Smashing Pumpkins that are getting Banded today. Remember, "Today is the 1st day of the rest of your LIFE", a healthier and slimmer life. You all will be in my thoughts and good wishes today. Lone Star Loser

Vidahlia. Glad to hear you are up and moving. Did you know you had the hiatal hernia before you went in? Believe it or not I still have my water bed and there is NO way I can get in and out of it yet, so I have been sleeping in the spare bed room. I am sleeping pretty well. I had surgery on Friday and I am feeling a lot better today. I feel like straightening up the house but when I get up and give up. I don't want to over do it. I can't believe that you are having to go back to work Tuesday. I guess I am lucking because I have two weeks off. And I am going to take it easy and get some sewing in. Keep up the good work and keep drinking your water. Take care. Lone Star Loser

Bama2. Don't be scared. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, to me the worst part was getting the IV started and even at that they were able to get it easily. I always have a hard time with getting the IV started. Everyone at the hospital were so nice. Everything went smooth. Oh, I guess one other thing that was not too great was having to drink that nasty stuff so they could make sure that liquids would go down thru the stomach. The nurse said it was nasty and she wasn't kidding. I had to be at the hospital at 5:30 am for 8:00 am surgery and was ready to go home by 1:30pm. You will do great. Some people say that they wake up and think to themselve, "What have I done", but not me. All I can think of is how much better I am going to feel and look. Next year this time, we will be new women. Take care and keep us posted. Lone Star Loser -
I think I looked a lot better than some of the others there. They had on tacky t-shrts and sloppy sweat pants. My house dress also had big pockets so I could put my glasses in them when I went to surgery. I was soooo easy to get dressed after surgery too. Good luck. Lone Star Loser

Ara, I know you don't much feel like it, but moving around really does help. I put on some comfortable clothes and walked to the mail box and just around the house and that really helped. I don't know what the weather is like in Orange, but it is beautiful here in Austin. Make sure you are at least getting your water in. You don't want to get dehydrated. I have been mixing some of the protien supplements with my water. I am using the protien bullets. They are a little thick to begin with, so this helps me get them down. Good luck. Just remember, We, the Smashing Pumpkims, are on a MISSION. Hang in there. Lone Star Loser

:thumbup:Hello everyone. I just wanted to check in and see how our recently banded Smashing Pumpkins are feeling. October 1- shanna234; salome000; wvprisonrn; 9pdmnm5; linro123; Meschultz October 2-Vidahlia; NEWLIFE4BEV; mrsrdh; mamac; kdraves; emialiabri; markfarnsworth; Bratty_Nicole October 3-Miss Undastood; SaraJaneQ; LoneStarLoser; Cyndi2464; purplerose; brandie; garysmithey; Ara I am doing well. No nausea thank goodness. I have found that if I take too big a sips of something, I feel it in my left shoulder. So I am taking it easy with the sips. Also, yesterday when I had the xray, the technician had me jiggle and roll from side to side to get the liquid to go down faster. So I have tried that when my shoulder hurts and it actually helps. Walking helps too. I am going back to the recliner for awhile. Keep in touch everyone. Lone Star Loser:smile2:

Hello everyone. I had my surgery earlier today. I had to be at the hospital at 5:30 am and surgery was at 8:00. I remember waking up about 11:00 and had to go for the xray and drink that nasty stuff. Everything looked good, so I was released aout 12:00 and was home by 12:45 pm. I feel good. Just a little sore. No nausea or has yet. I think the worst part was getting the IV started. The surses were extremely nice. I think I had about 6 differnet nurses checking on me. Dr. Brady did a great job. I will take pictures, but later. I am going back to lay down. Good luck to everyone gettig banded today and the rest of the month. Don't b e nervous. Just do everythng your doctor says to do. Lone Star Loser
