  1. Hey, I haven't talked to you in a long time and I just wanted to see how you are. I was banded a little over a month ago and have lost 22lbs. I'm struggling right now since I haven't had my first fill yet but hopefully I will start losing again soon.

  2. OMG I feel you! I go for my next Sunday since this Sunday was Easter. Have you had your fill yet? I am going to rollerblade 3 miles today, should be interesting! I am so frustrated and I feel like I'm failing.

  3. I am on my last week of 'soft' foods and it's been 5 weeks since my surgery. I'm down 22lbs but the scale hasn't moved for 2.5 weeks. I'm going for my first fill on the 19th and hopefully that will kick it into gear. I'm working on will power alone but I will say I'm not all that hungry so 3/4 to 1c of food is good for me. I've been exercising somewhat but nothing regular yet and only walking. I know I need to kick it up. Good job to everyone!
  4. YAY that's awesome. I am down 22lbs since surgery but I'm flat lining now with no movement for almost two weeks. I'm really bummed. I should be going in for my fill on Sunday but since it's Easter I don't think that will happen. I'm really trying to eat the right stuff and exercise but getting into the routine of exercising everyday is HARD!!!!!!!!!! How are you doing?

  5. I just need to keep remembering this so I'm adding it to my subscriptions! Thank you.
  6. I've lost 4lbs already. Only 11lbs to go!!!!!
  7. WOW I can't believe the month is almost over! I'm kinda sad it's not going to be "OUR" month anymore! I am so proud of us all, we are off to such a great start! For those who had some unfortunate events and couldn't get banded this month, you will be our honorary members! We wish you all the luck in the world and please keep us updated on your progress. According to the poll we took weeks ago we are officially the Let me know if you need help doing your signature or you can just click on mine and create your own. YAY! I know that this is the best decision I ever made and I'm so glad to be able to share my experience, strength and hope with all of you wonderful friends!
  8. Hi Kennedysj427, I was actually a self pay so I didn't have to do that but my roommate just finished it yesterday and it wasn't too bad. Her name on here is Kellster. She could definitely answer your questions. Good luck, what stage are you at?

    Sleepin in a chair

When I first was banded I slept with 2 pillows under my head, one under my knees and one under each hip as cushion. It was pretty comfortable. On night 4 I was able to sleep on my non-port side just fine. I can just now sleep on my port side but not for very long as it's still sore. I now only have the pillow under my knees and I'm sleeping just fine. I slept in my bed every night and didn't have too much of an issue with standing straight. I pushed through the uncomfortableness and took my liquid Vicodin if I needed it. I also took my pain med every night right before bed and that really helped.
  10. Can I change mine to 15? I think I WAY overestimated. I haven't gotten a fill yet and I'm stuck on the scale. I don't want to make my goal to unattainable so is there any way i can change it? Thanks.
  11. I made this Soup last night for my puree stage of post-banding. It was SOOO easy and sooo good. I calculated the nutrition facts so we have that as well for tracking. This recipe makes about 8 cups and you could totally cut the recipe in half if you don't want so much. I have a non-bandster roommate and I wanted lunch for this coming week. 4 cans of Bush Black Beans (regular flavor) 3tbsp olive oil (extra virgin) 2 medium onion, chopped 4 cups of Progresso Low Sodium Chicked broth 3 medium stalks of celery 4 cloves of garlic, minced 1 cup 2% lowfat milk 1 tsp cumin Salt, pepper, cayenne, tabasco to taste (if wanted) In saucepan sautee the onion, garlic and celery for about 5 minutes until soft. Add beans, broth, salt, pepper and cumin and let come to a boil. Once boiling turn down to simmer and let simmer partially covered for about 30 minutes. Let cool slightly and transfer small bits at a time to the blender and puree. Once all is pureed transfer back to pot and add the 1 cup of milk to make cream! Serve, refrigerate or freeze. Tip - I found it didn't need extra salt and I did add pepper and a small amount (1tsp) of Tapatio (it's like tabasco). It's sooo good! 8 servings at 1 cup Calories = 193.3 Fat = 5.125g Protein = 12.2g Let me know if you like it.
  12. Count me in too!!!!! I'd like to lose 35lbs by Cinco de Mayo. I am so recently banded I'm losing pretty fast and I hope that continues. By that time I should have had my first fill and I will be able to restart my normal workouts. I am currently just walking on the treadmill for 45 min 3-4 times a week. YAY I'm excited to have a smaller goal to look forward to!
  13. Welcome Sita, I definitely think you will blow their minds and make your goal! Don't let them tell you what your goal will be...hence why it's called a PERSONAL goal!
  14. Hey Sita,

I just found your post in the Intro section and I wanted to send you a message to say welcome! I also live in Pasadena and was banded almost 2 weeks ago. Your portraits are BEAUTIFUL! You are very talented. If you don't mind me asking, what part of Pasadena do you live in? I live on Allen.

My roommate is also going to be banded, hopefully in April or May so it would be cool for us to keep in touch since we live so close to each other. Talk to you soon and welcome again!

  15. Aww, thanks! I know that support is the number one way to success and I will take all I can get! How are you feeling a couple days out? I am 12 days out and I feel wonderful except for some soreness and slight pain at my port incison. If I bend the wrong way or lift something it HURTS!

I am so proud of us all, my mom keeps telling me I am so brave, but really we all are! I can't wait to see how our March ladies (and a few men) do! Keep us update...post some pictures! Where are you from?

  16. Good! I'm so glad. I needed somewhere we could all talk where all of us were going through the same things.
  17. I can't believe you are already able to eat chili too. I am still on clear liquid until the 22nd then I can have pureed foods. So if I wanted that chili I'd have to put it in the blender. I am going to make some soups this weekend and puree them so I have lunches. I am also still not that hungry. I get hunger pains kind of at night but I can't tell sometimes whether it's gas or actual hunger. Does anyone know how to tell? I am a little scared because I've been tracking my calories and I'm only intaking about 250 minimum and 350 max per day. I know that is sooooo little which is why I'm losing like no tomorrow but is that really how it's supposed to be? I even ate about 1/4 cup of full fat pudding today just to up my caloric intake. Should I be worried? I'm getting all my protein in with bullets and shakes so I'm good there.
  18. I am feeling way better. I went back to work on Monday but I've been taking my pain meds every afternoon cause I just get pooped and achey. As of this morning I was down 16lbs from the day of surgery and I'm so excited!!!

  19. Does the support thing go under your clothes? How much have you lost? I'm on my 3 week of clear liquids (2nd week post op) and I'm starting to get really hungry. I weighed this morning and I have lost 14 lbs since surgery. It's awesome!

    When to start working out...

I started walking around the block the day after surgery. Each day I increased that walk a little bit. I'm a week out now and I've been to the gym twice to walk (only) on the treadmill. Today I did 2 miles at 2.6mph and a 3.0 incline. It took me 45 minutes and I was sweating. I am just taking it easy...I am going to try to walk everyday at least around the block if I can't get to the gym. No stressful workouts for 6 weeks at least!
  21. I am down 11lbs since surgery and I had my postop appt this morning. I'm healing well and I'm happy. I am hungry but so far protein shakes are qwelling that. My port area hurts quite a bit...it's really sore and if I move the wrong way I literally see stars....Did you go through that? How are you doing?

  22. OMG I looked up that recipe on Recipezaar.com and all of the soup recipes look good. I'm thinking of making them and freezing them until I can eat softs and pureeds. One more week of clear liquid and I'm starting to feel hunger pains so I just keep sticking to protein shakes and broth. Thanks for all of your encouragement, this journey so far has been pretty easy for me as well. I have lost almost 20 lbs since I started the preop diet and 10 of that has been since surgery. I can't believe it!!!!!
  23. I was just banded on March 8th and I am so worried that I am going to sip too much, sneeze, cough or hiccup and the band is going to move or slip. I have a pretty powerful sneeze and it just scares me a little. Is this something to be conscious of? I didn't get sick or vomit after surgery at all but I'm still freaking out a little. Do I have anything to worry about? I have a 9cc Realize Band and am still on clear liquids for 9 more days. Please help. Thanks.

    Should I Be Nervous?

Thanks, I just wasn't sure and this is all so new.

    Hunger or Gas Pain?

Kerrie, we are only one day apart and I will tell you from day 3 to day 4 was amazing. My gas pains are practically gone and my incisions have started itching, which means they are starting to heal. I know it's really uncomfortable and I can't tell the difference still between hunger and gas. I finally was able to sleep on my side last night for a little bit instead of on my back, which was REALLY nice! Let me know what the doctor says...I am going for my postop on Sunday and will get all my other questions answered then.
