    First & Second Fills ????

Sem1126- Meaning that we are able to eat normally, human portion as opposed to lap band portion. Check out the post of what lap banders with restriction usually eat daily. It's like half a lean cuisine or barely an apple for a meal! That's a lap banders dream!

    First & Second Fills ????

I had my surgery 9-28-08 and had my first fill on Halloween. Didn't have restriction and called my doctor's office and they told me to come back in this week which I did to get my second fill. So I guess it depends on each doctor. I hope I get restriction this time. Too early to know.
  3. Just curious, what happens if you fill your band completely. Has this happen to anyone?

Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

I haven't been banded yet, but this thread has been great and informative. I was wondering if anyone knows of a website or cookbook of recipes for Lap Banders?

  6. It has taken me over 6 months to come to the decision that I wanted to make the life commitment of getting the lapband. I was very excited, and my family was hesitate at first but now they are on board and supportative after speaking with the doctor, which was very important to me. Everything was going right and on track, until the day of my pre-op. We first met with the dietitian who spoke to us about our diet regimen and afterwards I spoke with her privately to get more information about the diet. However, she was so negative about the Lap Band that I started to develop doubts. She told me to call her later to speak with her privately after I spoke with the doctor. The doctor put me back at ease and answered all the questions I had doubts with. But then I called the dietitian and she kept telling me that she has seen more patients fail then succeed with the Lap Band and as a result have had to take the band out to get gastric done. I'm really confused right now. The last thing I want from this procedure is to have more surgeries and to do more damage to my body. I was very excited about the surgery but now I'm having major doubts. My surgery is in two weeks and I am at a crossroads. I know that the dietitian is trying to look out for me, but I'm not sure what her motives really are. I'm wondering if she has only seen the patients that don't know what else to do and go to her if their Lap Band is not working. Any advice especially from Lap Banders who have had success or haven't. I really need some help right now. Thanks for those who respond!
  7. Thank you all for your advice. You put my mind at ease. I am feeling much better than I did yesterday thanks to your support . I know I can do this and I am ready to change my life. God bless!
  8. You like fabulous!! Congratulations. Quick question, I am getting banded in two weeks, I'm really worried about the scars. And my goal is to wear a bikini in my lifetime. I noticed you were in one and look great, are the scars visible and how big are they?

  9. Just would like someone to talk to about their experience. I promise I won't be annoying. Just remember when you were going through the surgery, wouldn't you have liked someone to relate to. I'll make you a protein shake .
  10. I just found out from work I need to fly to NYC for a couple of days a week after my surgery. The flight is only 2 hours but still it's the hassle of traveling. Not sure whether I will be able to do it or if I should postpone the surgery. Haven't asked my doctor yet but wanted to get advice from people who went through the surgery.
  11. Thanks everyone for your comments and advice. I just got off the phone with my doctor's office. The nurse practitioner said that it would be fine for me to travel as long as I got my stitches out beforehand. Still a little concern though from everyone's comments. Will have to think hard on this one.
