I had my VSG Wednesday. All in all I am feeling pretty good, definitely more exhausted than I expected. One thing I am struggling with is the gas pains, I am walking a lot and have tried warm showers and heating pads, I have even tried massaging my tummy as much as I could but I am struggling to burp ..every time I try to burp it feels like esophagus spasms causing a lot of pain...anyone experience this and have and recommendations??

April 2023 surgery dates?
OKmommax4 replied to Nepenthe44's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
April 5th here! -
Hi everyone, After 5 months of pre-op appointments, I have my surgery date! April 5th is the day and I am excited to be moving forward! Looking for surgery buddies on or around that date. I am having surgery at Bailey so I start my liver reduction diet on Wednesday, I am not excited about that but I am excited it means surgery is coming!

rThanks everyone, I know that I will be doing cardiology, pulmonology, nutrition, and psych at the bariatric center prior to surgery consult. I also have been doing medically supervised diet not through the bariatric center but through another dietician group for at least 6 months now with minimal results. I wonder if that time will help me shave some time off the wait time, either way I am just happy to be getting started.

Just starting my journey!
OKmommax4 replied to Manda1031's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! I am just getting started, I have my first consult on November 8th, and I think my insurance is going to require a 4-month supervised diet, however, I am hoping that I can appeal that because I have been doing medically supervised weight loss for at least 6 months with medications and no results. If not I guess I am in for 4 months more of medicine and appointments. Either way, I am excited to get started. -
Hello! I have attended my seminar and scheduled my initial consultation at Bailey Bariatric in Owasso, OK and the insurance verification called to say that the insurance will pay but mentioned something about 4 months, but said something about that being the average time it takes to get through the pre-op appointments. Does anyone know if this is a required 4 month waiting period through HealthChoice or if this was just an estimate. I also have a secondary insurance that will cover the expenses but I won't have it for much longer so I was kind of hoping to get the surgery done before the end of the year, but I am guessing that won't happen. any insight would help, thanks!
