Still hungry and no restrictions
riamonsterz replied to yolandacrosby's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i think everyone is different, i was eating regular food as soon as one week before i was to end my liquid diet...the key is even if it is chicken, make sure it is moist and take only a little bit, it sits different than mushys, it is hard to explain exactly but if i eat real meat the drier it is the longer it stays around and make u feel like it is stuck -
Man i have been missing talking to people that totally understand, it is sometimes such a pain to explain it over and over and have people look at you like you are a fool...well to them i say poo... I am totally thrilled to have dropped 20 lbs since the surgery, but have a huge amount of stress in my life at the moment, I am on strike from my job at the moment and it seems that neither side will budge, and having gone out for surgery in the middle of august I spent my little bit of savings....and am now stressing out a bit...i have not turned to food but I spend many mornings crying i hate it...plus i feel run down and without energy, i was having a blast being around my co-workers and was hoping we would not be in strike for long...I think I made a mistake by reading the news and the posters to the article...it was so horrible, man there is such a smear campaign on us workers, making us look greedy, but it was not the money it was the fact they tried to raise health care, and take away other things...I know why I am on strike, just tired of being judged....really kicks me down... So yeah sorry to dump that out but It is eating me alive...

I too can eat alot, and anything goes, well with in reason, but I also have days where i can eat the whole day and then the next i can't eat at all and am just thirsty, so odd... I can't wait until i get my first fill, then I maybe in trouble...lol I figure as long as i stay in the calories allowed range, then i can eat what i want right? if i want to blow it all on a slice of cheesecake...one day and then the next eat normal foods. I don't know, never been really good at telling myself i can't have something then that is all i want, like i could really go for a corndog right now...lol must need some nitrates or something lol I found peanut butter to be my savior though really helps tide me over, a tablespoon and good to go... But for me the hardest was giving up my coke, tried some the other day and was not impressed...i even watered it down, and let it go flat...it just hurt my gut. So haven't wanted one since, sure i'll try it again...glutton for punishment...

I've not actually had a PB yet but have retched on some food that felt stuck, I read on here pineapple juice helps with the stuck feeling...it is true...As well I drink some apriocot nectar, helps me...

Still hungry and no restrictions
riamonsterz replied to yolandacrosby's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I try to space my meals out, drink alot of liquids in the morning, then when I am really hungry I have maybe a piece of 9grain toast with some honey and butter, then wait an hour, cus that usually will fill me up, then drink some more, try my Protein in the middle of the day, and it is funny but after changing plates and bowls down to cups and saucers i don't feel so starved, my fav snack is cheerios with riceor almond milk, and 1 cup fills me up. where before it was like 2-3 cups, so big difference, but I fear I may have to get my dog banded as he is getting plumper with my left overs...lol I have been able to eat just about anything as far as foods go, only discomfort is when it moves into the lower tract, then i get the heaviness of it collecting if you know what i mean...but as far as the pouch area, no issues... It just takes time to remember to slow down, get the protein in first, And to keep the Fiber to a minimum...I found that I love frozen fruit, I freeze my blueberries and razzberries, ect. nice alt to popcicles I get my first fill next week...nervous:scared2: -
Lisa, I am with the strike on Boeing. It has been a pain but also good, this week I have gotten most of my place painted have one wall left over the fireplace, which requires a lot of taping off...so I have been avoiding it...lol Anyway after wenting and getting back some great responses, I got my butt outta that funk and was mucking around in my closet, and I was so totally surprised, as i have been wearing jammie pants at home and my biggest baggy pant to work to keep things off the lower incision, anyway, I thought lets see where we are, and started trying on clothes, and WOOT!!! I not only got into a pair of shorts I have not worn or been able to get over my hips at one point, they were also baggy in the butt area...yay!! So that got me fired up some more and I also tackled my eliptical runner today...desided to step it up a bit. walking got me into those pants, and I intend to get my jean jacket to fit again... yay to having goals... now i just gotta get back to work as soon as the dodo's desded to talk, but until then i'll just keep in truckin' thanks ppl:thumbup:

thank you so much, i was feeling like i messed up somewhere, cus i too have the ability to eat like a freak...guess we will see after my first fill, i am afraid i may end up with a gain... it is no where near what i was eating before but i feel like i could eat all day long...haha certain things they say are a no-no with the band i have had no issues with things like rice and Peanut Butter and tortillas...servings are much less...my biggest issue seems to be to remember not to drink with eating, it is such a habit, and after i eat i am so thirst even though i drank 30 mins before eating and wait afterwards, still have that urge to drink while eating... -
hey anyone else have that same thought...? I just figure maybe if it is on the floor now i don't need it...cus it hurts to pick stuff up...the day after surgery i dropped my cell phone and i swear it took me like 20 mins to get it... So i dread going back to work for that reason if i drop soemthing...no way can i jump around like before at the moment... I swear it still drives me crazy to pick something up I drop...i live alone so although the fact that i can't lift my vac outta the closet, one thing i forgot to place out in the open so i could use it...(old kirby, wieghs a ton) The fact that my floor looks like i shaved my dog in here bothers me at the moment...and of course he gets any food i should happen to drop, but he isn't so helpful with the other things... So anyone else feel that things on the floor are ment to be there for awhile? lol i sound crazy...
-
this that fall on the floor stay there?
riamonsterz replied to riamonsterz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
haha ok glad i am not alone, tomorrow i will brave the jeans for work...not excited about anything around my lower cut site, done the bra thing a few times not so bad... i just hope i don't drop them on the floor...lol ah at least my dog has reframed from bringing in sticks and chewing them up...I think he knows I would flip out...lol i think i may try to see about getting a neighbor to bring my vac out but i don't want her to see the floor...lol:blushing: oh and lana the picking things up with my feet would be ok but even getting the leg up can be painful... When i dropped my cell at the hospital i wish i had a film crew cus i bet it was funny...it was like ok a little bit more...ok whoa...ah...ok got it...lol oh and it is an iphone and those things no way can u get em with ur toes...i could have kicked it...but not pick it up...shapped like bars of soap and just as slick...lol -
sounds yummy...

riamonsterz replied to Renob's topic in The Lounge
I quit in may this year when i got real serious about getting banded... i don't miss it too much, except when i get stressed out...like right before i got approved i wanted to smoke...but didn't... -
throwing up & supportelss
riamonsterz replied to Cal Valley Gal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well you really don't wanna be throwing up...it causes issues and could cause slippage, you might need to talk to ur doc and get that band adjusted... -
man u guys are lucky, i am supposed to go 3 weeks on this broth and liquid diet, but i just can not keep to it, i am so bored with the plain jane broths, so i've started add in mushy stuff and other things and just testing the waters...cus 3 weeks no way that is too long to do, so i am a cheater:blushing:...i mush up corn chips like 2 or 3 in my broth and let em soak it up then add more broth...makes me fuller...i think i will get more of the split pea soup and look for some miso...otherwise after being on it since the 10th i was getting the spins and blahs even with the Protein drinks and Jello cups... anyone else like that? and what kind of potato soup was the popular?
-
walking around will help you big time, it also loosens those muscle that ur doc just messed with, the best thing for me was the walkin...and don't wait that hunger will hit you and the silly broth diet and liquid diet will seem like ur starving...so i cheat a bit and give my broth a few corn chips let them soften up like crackers to give the broth some volume and i also mix in a bit of split pea Soup, helps fill that hunger bear right up...=D:drool: i also noticed that i need those anti-inflams that has helped bring my pain lvl dwn...

Protein Supplement: High Protein Supplement Uses whey Protein Isolate. Great tasting whey protein supplements! i am sure there are others out there too...these are supported by my doctors' office... I have never tried the unjury gonna give it a shot when it comes in. Anyone else have super supplements store in their area? they had small packages of the larger bottle powders i have a bowl full to try...much less expensive to go that way then to buy the bulk until you know you like it:thumbup:

Gas glorious gas... my doctor and nurses said that was the most important thing before i got to leave was to pass some gas...and i did, there was a white board in my room and when i let one out i wrote it down, my day nurse loved it...haha it was posted up there on the board for everyone to see..."passed gas at 5:12am..." haha:thumbup: I try to remember that is most of the pain on the inside, and also having the digestive tract moving much slower than i an use to is also nice actually, i use to be a big IBS sufferer, and now it is all much slower...if ya catch my drift. and my first BM I felt much lighter and less pressure, can't wait until it all regulates, think i may invest in some of those gas strips, and I bet going back to work tomorrow will be good too...i work with about 26 guys and 4 girls...but no one is a prude or opposed to letting one rip in a confined space...so i am sure i'll take walks off the airplane but maybe it is my turn to clear the airplane... (i work at boeing as a body mech, build the forward section, basically the first class and cockpit area....) cheers to gas!!

Just had my heart broken....
riamonsterz replied to liquidbluegal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well at least he stepped aside so we could all be by your side now, and he made room for that special someone to come along. That came from a session with my shrink when i was talking about my ex he left me so many times to cheat then came back until i told him enough was enough but i was living with regret...my shrink said if you waste your time looking back to a cheater you will miss the time when someone comes along that is right. And he (my shrink) also was very supportive about my surgery and how it was an opportunity to take control over my life again and live. So it hurts and you can cry and scream and curse and throw things and let it out cus that is natural, and an iced drink is not gonna set you back...at least it wasn't a donut and a drink, you stuck to your liquids, so we've all been there and understand so let it out and let us in...the first step was to reach out to us.... good job!!! -
I found a splitpea soup that was already blended, and it was heaven, still on liquids, but did not feel that was cheating as it had no chunks and it went down just fine...and yummy...

Ladies, Did You Get To Wear Your "Skivies" During Surgery?
riamonsterz replied to Ineedalapband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was without but they were kind enough that when having to walk around they provided an extra gown as a robe, but when i got to my room after surgery and i got up on went some jammie pants that i rolled down away from my inscions and i ran around in a gown and those...with my little IV doggy all over my floor...thank god for me no aunt flow, and before i rolled into the OR i was already dosed by my drug doctor...so i didn't really care...lol:tt2: -
Not sure what you mean? I told family and friends, even started telling co-workers, well after i told one particular co-worker it seemed it was out there for discussion, i kinda wanted to not be so known but then i thought god why not get support from the ppl that see me daily... and if you felt you need the help of the band no matter what ur weight and bmi then gratz for you takin the step!!!

Anyone else feel the same way?
riamonsterz replied to MrsEOD_2004's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is nerve wracking...i was not as nervous as i was when i had my gallbladder out...this seemed like old hat...i've had like 3 surgeries before this one... but the idea of dying and having the fireman have to break the house open to get me out with a crane...that to me is more fearful...i peaked at 315lbs... I lost 50 on my own, but knew i needed help and i choose the band after looking into it for 2 years And let me say that the doctors that are preforming this surgery are some of the highest skilled out there in the field. my doctor only does lapbands on mondays and when my day was there were 3 of us, i was up walking 20 mins after being rolled into my room. Fear is healthy but don't fear this is it is a wonderful tool for us. So chin up!!! :sneaky: -
My insicion sites are itchy...and i am one of those that can't leave a bug bite alone so it has been a challenge...were you stitched or glued"? I was glued....and they are ugly lookin, i hope most of that is the glue:ohmy: i was banded on aug 11 08:thumbup:

My doctor's office sells myoplex lite and i being a big anti-diet/fake sugar person, actually enjoy it...tried boost's high protein but the protein lvl is lower than myoplex's and is way more sweet, and the diabetic version of boost was chalky, where the ,myoplex chocolate fudge is awesome...I even do the podwers but i alway mix in blender with ice and non fat milk, biotech seems ok, so far and i tried a berry flavored one, was not so good...
