Yes today was better than yesterday and the days before. The gas wasn't so bad today. He he he....a lot of it came out this morning!!! But I have that strange gurgling/burping thing going on that I have read about. I hope that goes away soon. I went to work today but decided I couldn't handle the 8-5 so I went in at noon and it went pretty well. I was tired of being cooped up at home anyway.

I am doing better today than yesterday. I thought I was doing well until yesterday about 1:15pm and then the horrible gas pains and nausea. Oh my the nausea was the worst. I feel the gas is in the bigger part of the stomache and trying to squeeze up thru to the little stomache but just can't make it. I have been having so much pressure in that area. I have been taking Gas-X strips, using a heating pad, walking and even had my husband go get me some Mylicon drops. No of it has really helped. I woke up last night around 12:30 with the horrible need to throw up but you are not supposed to feeling. My husband has been hitting me on the back to help some of it move around. I probably have bruises on my back! The liquid diet is so boring and I am not really eating anything that has calories in it. The funny thing is I am not even hungry. I know that will pass but right now it is a godsend otherwise I would propably be in worse pain! Thanks for the well wishes.

Hi Jen, I just found out a few minutes ago that I was definitetly approved and the surgery date will be next Tuesday. I knew more or less that I was approved but to actually hear it coming from the insurance rep and the doctors office it is finally sinking in. Now I am so nervous, it is so close. My hands are even shaking right now. I wished it could have been done this week while I was on vacation but it was not meant to be. My husband is off at scout summer camp this week anyway. I have a hiatal hernia and am so hoping it will be repaired during surgery. I have a 16 yr old girl and a 13 yr old son and I just don't know what to tell them. I haven't mentioned a word of any of this to them...no need to until I was approved I felt. I know they will not understand and will tell me I am beautiful just like I am...trained them right huh? lol... I have a cousin that had GB several years ago so they are a little familiar with WLS but not everything that entails. If anyone can offer some guidance on this I would appreciate it. I don't know what magnesium citrate is but wasn't told I needed to do or take anything. Not even a pre-op diet...but I am not complaining about that after reading about some doctors requirements!! -
I have been lurking here for a while reading as much as I could. I really feel like I KNOW everyone. I have gone to a seminar and have decided to go with Dr. St Laurent in Houston. (I live in Spring. ) I have an appt with him on May 17th. I have a question for all of you knowledgable bandsters. I have small scarred kidneys with no know origin. During my pregancies I always had high protein (4+) in my urine. It always went away after the pregancy except for the last time which was almost 14 years ago. Since then I have always had 1+ protein. My PCP has me do a 24 hr urine yearly and frequent bloodwork. Currently it is 1.5. I am curious as to whether I would not be a good candidate for the lapband because of this. :nervous

Thanks Elisabeth. I checked my lab report from March and the Creatinine is actually 1.7 and the Protein is listed as 2+. I was just concerned about the levels of protein that are required after banding. My nephrologist said that I need to stay below 50 gms per day.
