November 2022 Surgery Buddies
Merri Beth replied to Crystal Leifheit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I start my 2 week liquid diet on 11-14. I am so glad to hear that it hasn't been as bad as imagined. I really think that I am also at the point of doing whatever I need to do, I am fed as well. I am so grateful to have found this site for support. It seems like the days are dragging to get my surgery date of 11-28. -

Congratulations!! So happy for you and to hear you are doing so well AWESOME!!! -
I am seeing so many variations of the pre-op diet. I guess it depends on the surgeon. Of course, I am on the two week liquid diet. I start it on 11-14 for surgery on 11-28. I am trying to psych myself up to get past thanksgiving LOL! I am thinking positive and keeping my eye on the goal which is better health! I am having my surgery at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas.

I am seeing others who aren't required to do the two weeks either but then there are others who are required to do it. So I am just following what my surgeon told me to do which is the two weeks. I think either way is going to be good, just depends on the surgeon. -

It is a good day! I am sure you are doing it right, I think as long was we don't eat anything we are okay LOL! I am really trying to be positive about the liquid diet thing. I just had to do it for one day for another procedure and I did okay so my thought is one day at a time. You are almost there you can do it, keep me posted on how you are doing. -

You got this!!! Keep us posted on how things are going -
That sounds like a good idea. I was told to start the protein shakes, 4 a day and then other liquids water of course, broth, limited tea, coffee, sugar free jello and popsicles. I just told my friend today I will be working and sleeping while I am on that liquid diet at least for the first 3 days or so. Thanks for the reply, please keep me posted on how things are going, you are almost there, yay!

Hi Elena05, I am scheduled for 11-28-22. You are getting close, how exciting! Are you doing the pre-op diet now? That has me a lilttle nervous but I am working on changing my thinking around the all liquid thing LOL -
I agree!! I have decided I am not going to push myself, I am going to do the FMLA paperwork in case I need more time but hoping i won't have to use it.

I also work at a desk job and go out into the field often. I work in child welfare and go into the field to visit in foster homes, attend court, and whatever other tasks require me to be out and about to help families. I have scheduled for two weeks off but will request more time if needed. I am concerned about all the movement even at two weeks out.

Hi, I just got my surgery date yesterday. It will be November 28, 2022. I am having my surgery in my hometown of Las Vegas, NV. Dr. LaDuc at surgical weight control center is performing the surgery. I met with him yesterday and he was awesome, spent a good deal of time talking with me making sure I understood everything. I have another pre-op appointment in his office on 11-22-22, to make sure everything is in order and I have the right proteins and vitamins etc ready to go. This appointment is supposed to take about 3 hours so I think it will thorough and a big help. i have a friend who went to Mexico for her surgery and she is doing great, I can't even remember seeing her overweight. You will do great as well. -
Thank you for this post. I am getting ready to start the liquids, my surgery date is 11-28-22. You laid out some of my worst fears, can I do the liquids for two weeks and not cheat especially with thanksgiving smack in the middle! I also relate to your relationship with food. I have also struggled with my weight and overeating most of my life. I talked with my surgeon about all of it. He did tell me that the pre op liquids phase is the hardest. He said that by the time I feel like I can't do it anymore that surgery date will be here, I know i play mind games with myself about it already and I need to focus on what I can do and put the thoughts of the end goal in the forefront of my thoughts. I think we can both do it!!! Like someon said I might just have to "white knuckle" it. I think keeping the end goal of better health in mind will be a big help. I am diabetic and have other medical concerns that 4 different Dr.have said could be lessened or resolved with the surgery so I am committed no matter what it takes. I wish you the best going forward and have faith we can do this!!! P.S. I am very new to this site as well still trying to figure it all out. I can't even figure out how to update my profile or find my ticker so you are doing great.
