Seems everyone got results back quick. Not me, I waited so long I called and asked "did I flunk?' LOL they were just really backed up. Had my surgery a year ago this past November. Best thing I ever did for myself.

I stalled at 6 months for about 9 weeks it was awful but i stuck to the program and the weight started to come off again. Just saw my surgeon and I am no longer in the obese category, overweight and I quote my Dr. "not by much" I need to lose about 25 more LBS. I know it will be much slower now but i am sticking with it. You will start to lose again don't give up!

I had my surgery on Nov 29, 2022. Things have been going really well then boom the dreaded stall has hit. I haven't lost anything in about 6 weeks. I have been monitoring what I am eating, making sure i get in the vitamins and protein. I do need to increase my exercise, I am so worn out after working all day. I am seeking any suggestions on how to break thru this stall. It is driving me crazy.....

Thanks for the replies everyone. It seems like there is so much confusing information out there, I am going to stick with the plan and not allow this to throw me back into bad habits. I am calling to make an appointment with dietition at the surgery center I went to, they have a year follow up program and i need to utilize it more than just going to support group monthly. Starting back to yoga, going to my first class tonight. I am just praying this breaks soon!!!

I was the same way. A friend of mine who is nurse helped me but my issue was the sweetness, she added some FF greek yogurt, unflavored, the protein shake a a little coconut milk. It made a huge difference in my being able to tolerate the shakes without getting nauseous.

Thank you both i was having a mini meltdown over this!! I am tracking every bite i take!

Alternative to surgery (due to cost and GERD fears)
Merri Beth replied to Devi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon in Las Vegas repaired a small HH during my sleeve surgery. I didn't know I had the HH but am glad he saw it and took the initative to repair. I had my surgery through the Surgical Weight Control Center, the surgeon was Dr. Marc Leduc and he is absolutely wonderful, very knowledgeable and professional, great bedside manner. I had my three month check up yesterday and am down 54 LBS. I have gratefully not had any complications and did not even have to take one pain med after the surgery. Highly recommend SWCC and Dr. Leduc. -
Post-op Forgetfulness?
Merri Beth replied to RaiderRhode's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I had a period when i returned to work where I had to call my supervisor a million times because I couldn't remember where to find forms in the computer system, who I should send the different ones to for approval and just some crazy things. It is better now though. -
I say come to Las Vegas and go to Surgical weight control center! The are wonderful. I didn't even have take a pain pill after surgery, I was up and about the next day and have not had any complications!

Merri Beth replied to omrhsn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Depending on who is asking I will tell them I had the surgery others i just say "really, you think I have lost weight?" then shrug my shoulders when they say "yeah you are disppearing before my eyes." -

Day 11 PO - Severe/sharp pain left side
Merri Beth replied to ivorycassiopeia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had some pain in my left side as well. It is up a little higher though. My surgeon said he thought it was muscle related and would improve with time and it has. I had the surgery on Nov. 29, 2022. -
60 going to be 61 in April. I am so glad I did the surgery even if I did it at an older age.

began preop diet on 2/6/27
Merri Beth replied to Turch's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
My pre-op was protein shakes, broth, and sugar free popsicles. I prayed my way through it. I know if I tried to do it on my own it would not have worked. I did it and had surgery Nov. 29, 2022. My last weigh in at Dr in January I was down 32 lbs. I am not getting on the scale until I go back to Dr. in March. -
Not a pretty subject constipation help! please
Merri Beth posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the gastric sleeve on Nov. 29th. I am doing well except the constipation is horrible! I take colace twice a day and today is day 4 with no bowel movement (sorry for the TMI). I am wondering what others use to help with this? I am feeling so bloated. I have milk of magnesia, and some generic laxative pills i got from CVS pharmacy, also have miralax in the house. I am not sure what I can take. I called the Dr office but with it being Friday late in the day the MA said she would call me after she gets an answer, which may not be until Monday. I don't think I can go that long without this making me sick. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I drink at least 80 oz of water a day so its not that. Thank you all in advance. -

Thank you to all who responded. I finally got in touch with my Dr. and was told to take either Milk of Mag, senekot, or miralax so I took the milk of mag and will see it it works. Thanks again everyone! -

Merri Beth replied to Dan1131's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to use spirometer for a couple weeks after my surgery too and it helped a lot -
i had a really hard time with getting fluids in right after my surgery. I am just a little more than a month out and can now make my fluid goals.

Insurance Approved me in 1 Day
Merri Beth replied to LAinDallas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My insurance approved me pretty fast too once they got the information. I took the first surgery date I could get and had the procedure in Nov 2022. For me, the hardest part was the pre op liquid diet those protein shakes were just too sweet. After my surgery a friend of mine put together a protein concoction that i could live with, she put a protein shake, fage greek yougurt 0% unflavored, protein powder and coconut in the blender. Once i drink all of that in a day i know i got about 87 gm of protein. It is not too sweet and it works much better than the straight protein shakes. -
Starting Out and Self-Pay in Mexico?
Merri Beth replied to WeightAMin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had my surgery this past November at the age of 60. I am down about 32 LBS, i don't expect to lose fast due to genetics and my history but i am determined to continue to follow my plan no matter what. With what i lost so far i already can tell a big difference in how my knees and legs feel, i can walk longer distance without pain which to me is a huge win. I just put on a pair of jeans that have been hanging in my closet for a year because i couldn't even get them over my hips!! For me, the sleeve was definitely the right decision. I still new on this journey but so far so good. I have my surgery with the surgical weight control center in Las Vegas highly recommend -
So Why Don't We Talk About It?
Merri Beth replied to summerset's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am amazed that the psych assessment was that short. Mine was 300 questions plus an intense interview with psychologist. Then getting the results took a long time so long that i thought i failed.
