A couple things I plan on doing. One of my first goals, is to be able to go snowboarding with my husband this winter and be comfortable. Last time i went, the boots were too tight and I was too out of shape and couldnt bend over to really get up once I fell. Horrible experience. I probably weighed around 255-265 then. I want to be at about 220 by then maybe 210. then maybe i can find snowpants that fit me even if plus size I cannot wait until i can fit in reg womens and have all the cute choices like at walmart. right now their plus size selection blows. I went to try to find some smaller shirts and didnt find nada. booo lol. Best of all, is get to back into the sports i rock at, but are hard on my joints right now. Softball, volleyball, and I may take up soccer too

Will I ever be able to lay down in my bed again?
chicamam1 replied to sash's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too felt like i ripped my port out a time or two after surgery. it was sooo sore. getting into bed, getting out. moving in bed was really tough and a time or two even two weeks out of surgery, i would get up and the nagging, pulling feeling from that site put me into tears. I believe i started to feel good at about 3 weeks after surgery. Everyone heals differently. I was a slow healer and now can move about. sometimes i feel some discomfort still even after almost 4 weeks but im hanging in there. dont feel discouraged. I can now lay on my stomach and my sides in bed. You will get there. -
I have a question. How the heck do I know when i should stop eating. Granted I cant eat very much right now. maybe a cup at the most. usually within 4 oz tho. anyhoo... do know im full when i feel it in my stomach? Its like ive lost the signal my brain is sending. or is the signal when i feel my stomach say ok enough? I dont feel overfull like uncomfortable? how do you know when to stop eating. is it when your hunger pangs are gone?

So- Do You Sit Down and Eat Like The Rest of The Family?
chicamam1 replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i found the yummiest sausage dogs. johnsonville turkey sausage with cheese in the middle. The calories is only 80 per link, i can only eat half, its the size of a hot dog. and protien around 8 grams not the best but i usually have it with my scrambled better than eggs in the morning which add an addlt 10, carbs is only 3g and fat 2g per link. not bad and they are so delic. -
how do i know when im full?????
chicamam1 replied to chicamam1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all your replies after my first fill which is oct 29th. i have to stick to 3 0z measured out. two oz of protien one oz of veggies or fruits. I havent ever putmore than a cup of food on my plate so i guess im doing well. i eat breakfast at 7, which ends like at 7:20 or 30 then at work at my first break im starving, and i drink crystal light in between that. usually 16.9 oz of water, my break is around 11. then lunch at around 1:30 i ate a small smack and break and that helped yesterday. then i dont get to eat again until 6:30 which im usually starving by then lol i drink 16.9 oz between all my meals. im so nervous to strech my pouch out or to ruin it. I guess i shouldnt worry as long as im not eating over my portions. and im intaking mostly protien. thanks for the replies. -
maribele hang in there. you are on your way. youve lost 12 pounds so far. Dont let yourself talk you out of this journey!! you arent a failure. your doing something about it arent you? keep your head up and know your worth this, your family is worth this. your health is worth this!! Its not easy dont I know. Uh. yeah ive messed up too! ive had pizza toppings, a chicken wing. gee.. not so good right? we all slip up but its important we get back on the band wagon. Keep away from those slider foods for sure!! if you gotta have icecream why not try fat free frozen yogurt just a suggestion. anyways you can do this. put some faith in yourself and know you can do this. just imagine you down the road at your goal weight. its so worth it we can do this!!

3 weeks post op and getting stuck?
chicamam1 replied to Goober's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i buy better than eggs, and scramblethem. they break up into really nice small size pieces which are easy to chew and get down. Maybe that would be a good suggestion plus great source of protien i add fat free cheese, and diced meats such as turkey, to them to increase the protien. Only thing Ive had stuck is gum please dont ask lol. never chew it again ever.. but ive been making sure with my food to take very small bites and ensure its pretty much liquid before im swallowing. My jaw gets awful sore during eating. -
Cheese... glorified fat?
chicamam1 replied to gummykandi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cheese is ok. I got shredded lowfat or fat free cheese that I put inside my scambled eggs every morning ( all eggs that have 6 g of protien then the cheese) I bought low fat pepperjack which I love too to keep my foods from being to blah. Cheese can be a good source of protien/calcium. I dont usually eat even the serving size, probably half of one. I dont plan on cutting it out since it does have protien and I do not consider it glorified fat. the low fat i maybe getting 2 g of fat when addin gcheese but my whole meal is under 6 g of fat anyway so no biggie. I dont know if i would eat reg cheese much, but still great source of protien -
today at work i was really hungry so i got a peice of trident sugar free to chew. later on i was speaking on the phone and without realizing it. swallowed it!! I feel something stuck in the bottom of my throat and I started doing dry heaves at work so i left. im awaiting the call from my docs office and i still feel something down there... not sure what else i can do. ive been drinking warm liquids. I am so scared my band will be screwed up I love it so much!!!!

How long before you notice any weight loss after surgery?
chicamam1 replied to precious742's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i gained weight after my surgery and had to lose 7 pounds again on top of what i already lost i was in the bmi of almost 50 so i lost pretty fast preop and right after surgery. however the last two weeks it hasnt been so fast and i do see it slowing down. I dont know if its because my period is almost coming and im bloated, which it could be. but dont be discouraged!!! we arent even filled yet!! i noticed weight loss a couple days after surgery. I had to get rid of the surgery weight from the gas and liquids. -

What has been your biggest food sacrifices
chicamam1 replied to TheWatcher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
biggest food i will miss Pasta, i might try the whole wheat later on down the road in small portions. bread, soda drinks beer ( will will have an occasional glass of wine down the road) pizza and hot wings. although i havent explored to see if there is an healthy hot wing option out there yet. I sure hope so lol. mexican food especially mole. my favorite food. these are things i used to eat often and havent touched in a month. Im still craving them pretty bad, hopefully that part gets easier  -
life after being banded
chicamam1 replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lol the getting the to go box made me giggle. I went to ihop the other night with my family and the lady let me get a sr meal. grilled chicken and veggies. I ate maybe 1/3 of the chicken and couple bites of veggies. it almost looked like i didnt eat anything. Its interesting. the waitress couldnt seem to figure it out. She asked me if the meal was ok. Yep sure was but can only eat a very small amount. You shoulda seen the puzzled look on her face. So funny -
life after being banded
chicamam1 replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since ive got banded how as it changed my life? I think the biggest thing for me, is how I look at food differently now. Dont get me wrong I have my struggles, such as cravings etc, but knowing what i put in is what i will get out of the band. a couple more things' 1. the 25 pounds I have lost 2. my clothes fitting me better, ( wore a shirt sunday that was tight on me before but was loose) 3. getting more healthy to be around to see my children grow up wait, this is # 1 for sure. my whole encouragement and reasons I did the band 4. My blood pressure is getting pretty low on my medications. was 96/60 last time i checked. 5. the swelling in legs have gone down considerably and you can see the bones in my feet. 6. I feel confident to start up either Water aerobics or lap swimming and buying a swim suit. something I havent done since my teen years. -
Chewing & Spitting
chicamam1 replied to lapbandliz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i do think it could be considered an eating disorder. Not much different than swallowing and throwing up in my own opinion. Now since ive been on solids i have done what someone mentioned above. I took a bite and knew it wouldnt go down good, so i took it out of my mouth. I think this is being aware of your band. However doing it for the simple pleasure of just to taste forbidden foods. I dont know. My personal opinion is thoughts that lead up to this behavior arent self controlled, what will then come between the person starting to ingest these foods, and then feel bad and throw up? one action leads to another action. ITs just not good eating habits. I Think for me knowing later, I can still have some of my favorites if tolerated, in very small portions and limited, gives me more will power now to eat healthy foods and make good choices. I do hope if this is something someone is considering ( chew and spitting) to ask their doctor about it to see how they feel about it -
Regular food=no weight loss
chicamam1 replied to mgerv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes i avoid liquids at meals until 60 minutes after eating. I have pretty good restriction right now even though ive moved to solids. only able to eat probably 3-4 oz at a sitting, if i eat more, i get too full. I am still seeing weight loss even moving to solids but im only taking in about 600-800 calories a day still and ensuring im eating high protien foods first. we went to eat at ihop and i got a sr meal of grilled chicken and veggies, could only eat 1/3 of the chicken, and couple tiny bites of veggies. however, i noticed out of habit, i kept reaching for my drink, thank goodness i caught myself. old habits die hard dont they? From the research and posts ive read if you drink with your meals, it washes the food out of the pouch allowing you to not feel full faster, and eat more, which causes more caloric intake. I know its tough, but try to avoid if all possible. -
stomach cramping along with digestive issues
chicamam1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed over the last 3 days, I have had horrible stomach cramping after eating. I drank some water this morning, took my bp med and my stomach was already hurting :tongue2: its a concern because yesterday i had for breakfast half of a protien drink and chicken broth and when i went to work, I almost went in my pants :wink2: Not to be too graphic sorry but its concerning. after every meal, im feeling sick to my stomach. I have also felt very shakey especially in the mornings. My weight loss as stopped as well. I have eating anything or drank anything thicker than yogurt, and havent introduced any new things that i havent ate before. Any ideas?? -
How do you determine if you've eaten enough?
chicamam1 replied to Maribelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my doc as well requires we measure food precisely at every meal and to ensure how much protien intake there is. 2 0z of protien and 1z of veggies and fruits. three 0z at every meal i plan to go by the guidelines because for me. My full feeling is when I feel it in my stomach and I also dont know if that is exactly the way to know when your full. gosh ive overate for so long its like im not intuned to that feeling. -
stomach cramping along with digestive issues
chicamam1 replied to chicamam1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called my provider today. they said it sounds like im having a bad reaction to the protien in the drinks. and put me on soft solid food. to mince my meat, and eat cooked veggies, to try and get my protien from meat from now on. I can pretty much say im thrilled to hope my cramping will go away and that i get to chew again! -

stuffed animal in recovery room
chicamam1 replied to LJB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got a koala bear in the recovery room from dr Tersigni, To cough and stuff. However I found a pillow worked much better lol. I like the koala however as a reminder that im on this great journey and the great staff that helped me get here :wink2: -
it is so true that we will do all the work and the band is just a tool. For me personally knowing I was going to get the band, changed my thinking entirely. I lost 13 pounds on liquid diet all by myself without the band the week before surgery. and have lost a total of 22 pounds. At this point, its all my decisions on what im eating that is affecting my weight and that will continue to be a factor even when i get my first fill. It is all us :crying: Amazing to think but for me its like I have this sheer determination now knowing if i do this right, I can lose the weight, and keep it off!!!
