i am curious and interested in others opinions. I previously very craving spicy hot foods. this may be very weird but lately ive been craving just straight mustard. ok so ive loved mustard since i was a kid. mustard sammiches etc.. anyway i love it. even tho its 0 calories im still concerned that its replacing my binge eating because i will eat it between meals. man i promise im not pregnant. lol. anyway does this happen to anyone else?

Chewing the Fat About the Holidays
chicamam1 replied to stevegoad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i plan on eating the turkey dinner, probably some turkey, potatoes, sweet potato pie etc but taking a very small portion. I dont plan on eating any sweets, but i dont feel a sliver of pie would hurt me either. for me its all about moderation. Just like ive doing awesome my dd had a bday part at a pizza joint yesterday.. i didnt have cake but i had two deep fried buffalo wings and two french fries and it didnt hurt me at all and weight still fell off the next day. My thing is learning to stop when im not hungry not when i feel full because the full thing is uncomfortable. I only eat about 3 oz at a time, but still i end up feeling fulllll.. i get full from drinking too tho. it doesnt last long tho but it staves off hunger lol -
How many sizes did u go down vs. the amt you've lost? curious..
chicamam1 replied to Crummy78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i started at a 24 pant and a 26 shirt although i could fit into some 22 shirts too. ive lost 42 pounds and the 24 pants arent falling off me yet but are really baggy and obviously too big. Im not going to buy new pants until they literally fall off of me lol. I did however buy a 22 jean which fits so ive lost a pant size with all that weight..booo.... and a shirt size. i wear a 22 comfortably and could probably wear some 20s my underwear are huge now and my bras are too loose. kinda disappointing to lose 42 pounds and know im still fat enough to wear a 24. wahhhh.. but the weight will come off and im sure the lower i go the more sizes i will drop and faster. here is to hoping. -
can weird cravings just replace old bad habits?
chicamam1 replied to chicamam1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
omg Im so glad im not alone in this!! wow it sounds like alot of us go through the same thing. I too have been craving popcorn and probably eat more than i should like today i had a mini bag 100 calories around 12 and was still really full until like 7. I guess i need to eat more protien items but man its so good. one more thing I crave and its just awesome is i cannot believe its not butter spray. no calories no fat no carbs all chems yes but it does taste like butter!!!! -
should try Dance Dance revolution. that game is fun and kicks your butt you may be huffin and puffin but youll still get on it because its so addicting.

No restriction with .6? Is this normal
chicamam1 replied to targa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i just got 4 cc in my 1o cc band. i dont feel restriction such as not being able to eat certain foods. everything goes down ok for me. I dont get full after 3-4 tiny bits, i tend to get full around 3 oz i had a taco salad for lunch and right now am just starting to get hungry again so i would say that is good. Is this the restriction others have? I dunno. i believe i have it because when i drink water it sits in the bottom of my throast for a bit and then it feels like a funnel effect. my doc also said i wont hit my sweet spot until around three fills. I feel good tho now. IM glad i dont have any sliming with certain foods. i do take small bites of everything. -
well it came loose from the sutures. so he said its loose. he numbed me with lidocaine, and then used his fingers and the needle to flip it back over. the port is very easily felt through my skin. right by the surface it seems. anyway it took him like 15 minutes of manipulation to get it flipped. he just turned it using his fingers. it was weird!!! anyway. he said he knew it flipped because when i went to put the needle in the soft gel wasnt there. so he worked on it and finally got the soft gel side of the port right so to do my fill. he said now that its corrected, the coming up fills shouldnt be an issue. i asked him. do we have to surgically correct this? he said nope it will be fine. maybe its because the location they put it?? its about 5 inches from my belly button right under the port incision

My first fill is tomorrow and im nervous but scared yet excited. I do hope all goes well. I live 5 hours away from the doc and my biggest concern is the doc not filling aggressively. I of course will discuss the concern with him but im sure knowing the situation, they will give me a decent fill. I am scared the port isnt where it should be etc etc lol. just being a worry wart. Im sure all will go ok. i really hope this will jumpstart my weightloss again. Im losing decently still but I do need some restriction right now. Im noticing i can eat more than i used to, but i try to stick to my portions of 3 to 4 oz. I know my restriction is leaving because last night i was able to eat a kids turkey sandwich from quiznos, but took the upperhalf the bread off. But i ate it with my probs. NoT sayin that lil sandwich was too much but i would like to be able to take maybe 3 or 4 bites and get full now. how nice that would be. i also hope its done under flouroscopy. I just have so many concerns. but im excited to be at the six week mark. woohooo ive made it this far lol.

Do you have to plan your meals? As in, do you "diet"?
chicamam1 replied to dietpeach's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i really dont plan my meals. yes i go to the store and buy high protien stuff. but what i do day to day is a decision i make really on the fly. i buy foster farms frozen chicken breasts that i can cook frozen. stuff like that. we also eat out alot but not fast food typically and if its on the go ill stop at quiznos and get a small chili or a kids sammich. my favorite is authentic chicken tacos. i dump the hot sauce on and just eat the insides because its shredded chicken cilantro and salsa and bypass the tortilla. taco salads without eating the bowl is one of my faves too. i just improvise. and it seems to be working decent. otherwise i ensure to get asmall portion of grilled meat with veggies etc. i really do think the trick is the portions you eat. combine that with eating healthy 90 percent of the time and i think thats the magic touch. i know its weird but for Breakfast ill usually make meat and veggies. lol. and then take the leftovers with me for lunch. -

Why are so many not telling friends and family about being banded
chicamam1 replied to jackiemhornig's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my whole family knows. ive told almost everyone i could tell. im so proud of my band but i can tell you there are a few people at work that dont really respond that great to me losing weight but hey.. this is my life not theirs. lol. i tend not to talk about it as much with them around because i think its hard for them to see me losing weight and they cant. i have one friend who started a diet and we were eating lunch and she made a comment saying. well im not going to starve myself to lose weight. ( she doesnt understand why i dont eat as much or the same things i used to) however.. im far from starving but there is the mindset of some people. anyhoo. i can see why some people choose to not really talk with others about it. -

Should I have my surgery or not?
chicamam1 replied to CatLover1963's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i do understand about the long trip. mine was 5 hours away. They gave me blood thinners and the instructions were if a long ride home to walk every hour to keep the blood circulation. so stopping the vehicle and like a 5 min break of walking. the ride home was actually almost 8 hours before we drove to our cutoff and it was closed due to fire so we had to reroute it back. Alot of people have the same concern so please dont feel like your alone. i was certainly concerned and just ensured to walk often. -
I know in my head, logically i have no reason to be frustrated. im off to a good start indeed. but the last month has been such a battle for me. i posted previous about not losing for a week and a half, then i lost some, then the same thing. i lost three pounds and now nothing. this week it showing i gained a pound. im walking on my treadmill for 20 min i know not a long time but i have nerve damage in my legs, but i do faster, slower running intervals to try and mix things up.. next week im cleared to start lifting weights. I am just so frustrated because its the excitement of getting skinnier and being more healthy and im still at such an unhealthy weight and im so tired of being fat. I feel like im going to meet my goals and when i go to christma this year. no one is going to really tell my weight loss at all. and i was so excited about that. i wanted to get close to 200 by then but i dont think its gonna happen. I go in for my first fill next wednesday so im hoping that will change things. This morning i was crying and i know im being so illogical about the whole thing I know its a slow process its just such a let down to lose so quick and then suddenly have that stop. last weekend i did have a couple hiccups i know could be slowing me down too and my body could be adjusting from that. such as i had a taco from taco bell. a little bit of movie popcorn.. and sat night went out with the girls and have some wine. I guess my mindset of treating myself was all an illusion and i dont know if it has anything to do with it at all because im been so damn good. anyway i just needed to vent because this website is my support. im so scared the band has stopped working. i think that is my biggest fear. hey tho one thing i was proud of. is when i was exercising yesterday i was able to jog a little bit. i can tell im getting into better shape which is always a good thing right? that is my main gail so there is a positive.
-
to be honest im really not sure why i cant have it. its just on my list of foods to avoid from my doctor.

i have had this real strange thing happen lately. Ive always loved spicy foods but ever since just like a week ago, the spicier the better!! Spicy foods is on the no side of my food chart so I dont know what to do!!!! I love them so much. I wonder if im substituting desserts for spicyness to have some control? or if its because im craving flavor! anyhoo the hotter the better i dont know whats up. lol. i had chinese mustard yesterday and i was crying but it was the best thing ever. Did anyone have any changes like this ? It doesnt upset my stomach at all but im wondering if it can do hidden damage i cant feel. Any opinions??

Should I have my surgery or not?
chicamam1 replied to CatLover1963's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I cannot tell you what is best for you. what i can tell you is my experience. the Lap band as been the best experience ever! I love it so much. I didnt exercise as much as you did and way to go for your effort there! but my weight kept creeping and creeping up.. id lose a little gain it back then some. I wouldnt pass up the band for anything. my general opinion is its a great tool to help keep weight off for a lifetime if managed right. I know there is a risk someday of gaining weight back but not certainly as high as just losing weight. so many regain it back then some. I cant tell you what to do again disclaimer you have to make your mind up on that but I would tell anyone struggling with weight the lap band is awesome and a tool to use to really lose weight and keep it off. you already sound very commited to your plan. i was 5"2 and 274 and was just sick sick sick of being fat and sluggish, and i used to be so athletic. now im down at least to 237 and i feel much better, cant wait to lose more. this is all in a month :Dancing_biggrin: the truth is. if you got lapband. lost weight then picked up your routine six weeks after or whenver your cleared, you may be just so surprized with the results. good luck and keep us updated. -
my port is actually right under my left incision vertical to my belly button. i thought maybe it was just scar tissue until i was laying down with my husband yesterday and he pushed it and it felt like something was poking me from the inside. omg. weirdest feeling ever lol.

What's up with the Psychologist appt????
chicamam1 replied to wintobethin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my girl didnt try to talk me out of it. I think they make sure you are ready emotionally for the lifestyle change that comes with the band. My appt was questions about my life, then questions on my eating habits, etc... to ensure i was a good candidate. -
i cant tell you what to do but i know my surgery was scheduled really fast. i wasnt told to be on a preop diet but i offered it up to the coordinator and she said not a problem. For me the jumpstart of losing 13 pounds was great plus the fact im sure it helped shrink my liver which was something i was concerned about. the other thing is i was borderline bmi for outpatient surgery and to have it i needed to be under 50 and with the weightloss in that week i was. if you think you want to be on one, i would just call your doc and ask if it would be beneficial to you and your surgery.. good luck

What/How to tell my kids?
chicamam1 replied to Adam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just sat down with my kids and told them i was having surgery and explaine dthe procedure to them and what i would have around my stomach and how it would work. my kids are 13 9 8 and 6. i explained its a very safe procedure and what to expect after surgery such as to be gentle around me. They were very understanding and helpful and they love seeing the results im getting. it wasnt a big issue with them and they understand why i eat the way i do because ive explained why i cant have certain things. ... I was just real straightforward about the whole process and they are doing wonderful and even being supportive -
Outpatient surgery on Friday, what should I take
chicamam1 replied to illinoishusker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i would bring a very loose button down pajama shirt with loose jamma pants, shoes that are easy to walk in, and a pillow for the car ride and to push against your insicisions. thats all i really cared about the first day -
