  1. Ah this just put things into perspective for me. I'm only eating 1 small egg & a mashed veggie sausage mixed in & that takes me about 12mins, when before that would have only taken 2. I assume we'll reach the 30mins when we increase our portions!

    Feeling Defeated

The liquid diet is 100% the hardest part. Just remember the liquid diet is only going last for a few weeks & eating that way is only gonna be easier when your stomach is small. I was miserable & now I'm beyond glad I stuck through it! You can absolutely do it. It's just a small hump in a giant life changing event!
  3. Pre cooked chicken strips? Like the Tyson brand ones? I like this idea
  4. Day 1 of soft foods stage. Had my mom's Caldo de Pollo without any of the rice, corn or potatoes aka the good stuff but luckily the flavor was still there! I've never been so happy to eat carrots 🥲
  5. These are the Christmas pants I got from my family last year. I weighed 250lbs Dec 2021 & I've lost 67lbs since then!
  6. I was disabled for 6+ years, weighed almost 300lbs, used a cane & I was TRULY invisible to men. No one ever looked my way but I found comfort in that through out the years as I didn't want people to point out 'the disabled lady' - I just wanted exist with everyone else. I'm 183 today, no loner need a cane & while I'm not thin, the attention from strangers is already catching me off guard. I'm a very kind outgoing person so when someone talks to me, I happily chat back because normally we would just move on with our day 2mins later. Now a few men have wanted to know my name, some contact info, etc. I'm just especially not used to it because I was locked in the house disabled for so long. Itll take a while to get used to that kind of attention from strangers

    Fruit

I don't know why but I'm kind of nervous to eat fruit. I focus so much on my macros that I don't want to throw them off with a carb loaded food item. BUT I'm fully aware it's irrational bc a portion of fruit will always be healthy to eat. I just need to get over it.
  8. Officially on my soft-foods stage! It feels GREAT to be able to eat food. I started off my day with some 1 small egg mixed with 1 Morning Star veggie sausage link. later had some caldo de pollo (traditional mexican soup) but didn't include any of the potatoes, corn or rice in my bowl, just the soft carrots & chicken but the delicious flavors were all there. I was so happy
  9. Wow this thread was so interesting to read. It seems OP just wanted the easiest solution without committing to any real discipline. & the two update photos from today are amazing! You ladies did incredible

    Head hunger.

so far my favorite head hunger snack is just making a sauce cup of PBfit protein peanut butter! It tastes just like you're eating the fatty stuff but in reality its just peanut flour/powder mixed with water. My favorite! I got the original flavor & the chocolate peanut butter flavor. SO GOOD
  11. I use a fitbit watch & I've gone down 2 notches since getting it in Feb! I can insert 2 fingers in the space between my wrist & the band. like whoa I forget wrist fat was a thing lol

    Carbs yes or no

My program put extreme emphasis on eating mostly protein & eating almost no carbs. Right now the ONLY carbs I'm allowing myself to eat are beans (as they also have protein) & soft fruits (paired with PBfit protein peanut butter) Granted I'm only a month out so I want to take advantage of these first months, but after like 6 months I want to start introducing more carbs in my diet. Especially low cal veggie straws & thin pretzels to carry around my bento box. As long as I still eat mostly protein it should be ok!

    Dumping?

wow I'm so sorry that happened! I've read about dumping syndrome but seeing how much it made you suffer really makes you realize how bad it can really be. Are you feeling ok now?

Low BMI obesity gastric sleeve option

I got my surgery done at 200lbs because of thyroid & PCOS issues. Since you have certain conditions, it can get approved! & I don't regret it one bit. Also, my family thought it was a waste & an easy way out until I sat them down & went over ALL the lifestyle changes I've had to make pre & post op. They eat rather healthy & even they admit they couldn't do it bc of all the work that goes into it. People think you get it done & you deflate like a balloon. But nope, hard work still wins in this case. Maybe you can sit your wife down & go over everything, she may understand!

    3 week stall

(Bump bc I don't wanna make a new thread) I mentally prepared myself for my 3 week stall, but bc I had to stop taking birth control to avoid blood clots, my period also came at the exact same time week 3 started. Not only did i stall, but I have a ton of water weight, so I 'gained' a bit. Luckily I know what's going on& i know that's gonna go away & so I don't feel too bad about it, but MAN your first stall is really a bummer. I just gotta keep going

    1 week post op

I'm 1 month out & I 100% thought I was hungry too, it made my first week miserable. For me those those 'hunger' bubbles were iust gas! & I knew it was gas/a burp because I felt the bubble form as soon as I finished eating my food. I'd burp & it'd go away. I have that feeling right now after eating an egg w veggie sausage in it. Once I MENTALLY understood what was going on, I was fine. We just have to re-learn how to read our bodies.
  17. I went down to 200lbs the day of surgery, I'm 3 weeks out & have lost 15lbs. I read a passage in my bariatric handbook that basically said, 'Your metabolic rate is higher when you weigh more, meaning you lose more doing less. Weighing less will slow that down. Essentially, the surgery will help you when losing weight is at its hardest.' Aka, this will help us lose those stubborn last pounds! Its very encouraging for me
  18. YEP 100%. The first time I ever paid attention to my weight was in middle school & I weighed 160. In High School I weighed 180. I'm only 5'2 too. I'm 30 now & I'm 10lbs away from weighing less than I did in high school. I had undiagnosed PCOS & I was active too. I wish a doctor bothered to wonder why I had so many PCOS symptoms as a teen.
  19. My doctor recommended it! I have a couple of chronic illnesses & I've been on doctor monitored diets two times. My doctor noticed I dealt with a lot of stalls & my PCOS was not letting me workout & lose weight like normal. I managed to lose 40lbs during that time but with all of that effort I should have lost double. My doctor referred me to the Bariatric program, did a 10 week class & decided it was for me! I'm 2 weeks post-op, I'm hoping its the solution to my PCOS & that I finally get to slim down like I want to

    mayonnaise

Low fat mayo is a solid substitute but I really like greek yogurt & cottage cheese (with seasoning) as a substitute for Mayo or any creamy condiment. Adds a nice amount of protein too!

    Serving Sizes

I just saw a video about this! The doctor explains that some people just have the 'tube' part of stomach bigger than others. Some have longer & wider ones. I attached a screenshot of a drawing he made showing how 2 different sleeves can look & why some can eat more than others

    September 2022 surgery buddies

Had mine on Sept 28th! It's been an overwhelming experience, but I've been learning a lot about myself & I've been sooo motivated. Very excited for these next few years

    Swollen abdomen

Definitely a week plus I was taking stool softeners & that causes bloating too
  24. I'm 2 weeks in & I couldn't do much after 1 week still. I didn't have gas or incision pain but I felt a lot of muscle soreness & it was very painful. It's apparently not very common but I was one of the ~lucky~ ones [emoji2358][emoji23] Sent from my Pixel 4a (5G) using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. Tbh I'm glad your Dr's agree that something is going on. I know stalls are normal (going through one myself) but for THAT long & with that much effort is concerning. I hope the scan finds what's going on [emoji171] Sent from my Pixel 4a (5G) using BariatricPal mobile app
