  1. I did not fully track my macros till I hit my soft foods stage. Before that I just made sure my protein was 60-70g like you mentioned, didn't worry much about everything else. Now that I'm in the 'early transition to solids' stage, I track them all completely as I can now include veggies & a few fruits. This is what my macros usually look like now (ignore the 'goal' percentage those are the default numbers the app placed)
  2. Agreed, you gotta go to your doctor. Dehydration & vomiting can lead to hospitalization. I was told to avoid solids during this stage because food bits can get stuck in the stomach staples & you get sick. It's rare that this happens but it's best to get checked out just in case
  3. I just tried to chew gum for the first time to suppress a craving. Less than 30mins later I spit it out. My stomach feels like it's inflated, completely filled with air. This is apparently what happens when you also use a straw right? This is very uncomfortable! after tonight I'm ok w never using straws & chewing gum ever again lol
  4. Found a new food that tastes different to me. Ground pepper. I used to dislike having more than a small amount & would use other seasonings instead, but now I'm covering my food with it haha

    December surgery

What a memorable date to start the liquid surgery! It'll be a true test of your power
  6. THANK YOU for making this thread! The timing couldn't have been more perfect! Also so happy to see you lost your first 10lbs! This morning I found out I now weigh 179's which means I now WEIGH LESS than I did in High School & I'm 30yrs old. Leaving the 180's was such a big deal for me mentally & emotionally since being a big kid in high school was so rough. I feel like this is finally helping my past-self heal. I'm doing it for current me & past me 😌
  7. I think recognizing that this is an issue & you want to put a stop to it early is an incredible step. So many people don't discover this until it's too late. Maybe telling someone in your support system about this can help you, having someone in real life to help hold you accountable can be very helpful If not, talking to your bariatric team is good. those 'late night snacking when not hungry' sessions isn't about finding healthier alternatives, but about stopping it at the source. Hopefully they're able to help you find something to replace those urges with.
  8. I spent the majority of my first month feeling dizzy & getting lightheaded. It'll go away with time! Remember food is fuel & after a week of surgery, we're only getting drops on fuel in our engine.

    Dealing with Sabotage

Oh my god, I am so sorry. What a horrible situation to be put in in such a vulnerable time of your life. She sounds evil for trying to enable you & destroy your hard work like this. I wish there was something that could be done to bring you peace but the fact that there's no options for her to move out is horrible AND PLEASE if you need to rant here more, lay it all out. Please let this be a positive outlet for you during such a crucial time.
  10. My handbook, every YouTube video, every blog states that it should take 30mins to finish a meal. However, I'm finding that I'm eating faster than that & I feel fine. No stomach aches, no dumping etc. (maybe it's bc I'm still in the soft food stage) How long has it been since your surgery & how long does it take you to finish a meal? Do you find certain foods take longer to eat than others? If so which ones.
  11. Thanks guys. I think this stemmed from jealously last night lol. My body feeling good makes me want to move forward & but Kaiser's plan is so successful so waiting is probably for the best. & like @kcuster83 I probably also wont be able to fit any significant amount till the 3rd month as my plate is only 3oz & I can never fit in veggies lol. I'll stick to my plan!

    Day 7 concerns

Agreed on not weighing yourself everyday. This is very normal & checking everyday will only bring on stress (which doesn't help the stall) you WILL eventually start losing again as long as you follow your plan, so might as well just relax & focus on just healing! Things will be okay

    November 2022 Surgery Buddies

Hello! Stalls are very normal & you will experience more. Some can even last 2+ weeks. It's extremely normal for us & as long as you stay on track w your diet plan you will get out of it & keep losing!
  15. Ohhhhh I need to get ground pork! For some variety. Chili sounds amazing too. Especially now that it's colder, I need a nice comfort meal! & for breakfast I eat grilled chicken breast w a runny sunny side up egg & 1 slice of avocado for extra creaminess. The texture of grilled chicken is kind of off putting for some for breakfast but the avocado & yolk helps makes it comforting

Weird Pain 2 weeks post op

I experienced a lot of weakness & sudden dizzy spells where my heart would start racing & flutter. It felt horrible but they went away! However mine went away because of a medication change. Turns out my dose was too high for my new weight. That may be good to take into consideration if you take medications. Its scary how easy that is to overlook

    Day of Surgery Concerns

At my place they offered some underwear bc a nurse saw a pad I took just in case mine started. Its the same material has the blue hairnets they have lol & dont worry about being naked! not only do they give you a gown, but the give you the giant sized ones that fit like a banket. You will feel more than okay
  18. I dont think our bodies are meant to handle such heavy foods so soon. Cheeseburgers will definitely overwhelm our bodies! I suggest eating it protein style first (lettuce wrapped) before trying it with bread!

    I'm clumsy

I dealt with that & I had low blood pressure. Turns out the medication I was taking was too high for new weight & it wasn't even a blood pressure medicine! Its good to go over those again w your Drs if you do take meds

    Stuck at 3.5 Months Post-Op

yeah I would move up the appointment with the dietician! I talked to my Kaiser support group leader during my stall & refreshing my memory about what & what not to do helped. She mentioned switching your protein sometimes helps & that's what did it for me!
  21. THANKS! It's such a relief. even after reading a million stories about how normal stalls are it still hurts my feelings. I hope yours starts to move again! & CHICKEN. I eat 3 small meals a day & every one has chicken. I switch up the sauce & seasoning & suddenly feel like I'm having a different meal. I'm at the point where I feel I'll never get tired of it haha
  22. For me it took 2 weeks! Especially because I was using a stool softener which makes us even more bloated.

    straws?

I was told to avoid them during the healing process which is like 3 months. I feel fine but I still avoid them just in case. No clue why it varies between so many programs

    10 days Post Op

Ah yes good luck! the first few weeks were so hard, I'm a month & a half out & no matter how much I research I feel like I'm learning something new everyday still. I'm a hardcore label reader & food weigher now, but it's nice to know what I'm putting in my body after so many years of treating my body like cr@p. It's a good experience so far
