I had a similar experience. Lost all the weight I had to & more, followed all the rules, kept up w the weight loss in between appointments & only had to do 2 full days of the liquid diet. Following the rules pays off!

Nerves ahead of Dec 5th surgery
qtdoll replied to smc124's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I fully understand. The psychological aspect of all of this can be rough to handle & many ignore it. I'm in a support group with Kaiser, we meet/talk every week & that helps me a ton. I truly feel being in a positive headspace is just as important as our dietary discipline -
September surgery buddies!!

For me it's fruit. It makes me feel like I ate 2 donuts. Idk if it's because I've been doing sugar-free with almost everything but it feels SO HEAVY. I would eat bananas almost everyday pre-op but now it's like a sugar rock in my stomach -
Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
qtdoll replied to chiquitatummy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just went shopping for the first time! I used to be a size 3x/4x. This is a large & it's somewhat a loose fit! It's perfect for what I want this winter but I was so sure it'd be form-fitting. I can't believe I'm in the 'straight size' section now -
Food Before and After Photos

Happy Thanksgiving! My dad made an INCREDIBLE turkey. I got 1-3/4 of an ounce of turkey breast & 1-1/2 ounces of ham & added some of the consome from the turkey pan. Still can't enjoy the carby-sides but I REALLY enjoyed myself. Gonna get more later! -
Happy anniversary!! I can't imagine how good it feels. So happy for you! Are you celebrating in any way?

I have one! Its very effective but I can't use it for long periods yet bc it destroys my muscles lol. It's a lot harder than it looks if youre like me who isn't used to working out. If you are, you'll love it!

That's amazing!! Congrats!

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

I went grocery shopping today & I DIDN'T SWEAT. I would always sweat doing anything out, no matter how hot or cold somewhere was & it was embarrassing. Today that wasn't an issue -
November 2022 Surgery Buddies

Ugh pharmacy issues are the worst. So glad things are looking good for you otherwise! -
I ordered these pj pants many years ago and never wore them because they were too small. They're a men's size L/XL. The difference losing 115lbs makes!

Advice needed: How to do Thanksgiving
qtdoll replied to heartofmercury's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am planning on just getting turkey & a small bit of ham since I can't eat bready-carbs yet. I'll get some gravy to top my turkey & that's it! But mentally I've been preparing myself to stop associating Thanksgiving with binging. I dont have to eat 1 lb of mashed potatoes & a million slices of honey ham to feel like I had a good thanksgiving. Just gonna savor the flavors i WILL eat -
Have you been on vacation since surgery? How did you do? I'll be visiting family at a beautiful beach town soon! & I've been over-planning to not mess up my progress or hurt my stomach. I have so many restaurant options already picked out, microwavable meals I can have, protein snacks, & I'm packing a Bento box just in case I need to take extra protein out w me. It's gonna be a challenge but I think I'm well prepared! Any tips?

Ohhhh good point on being active. I'll be walking non stop without even thinking about it. I was thinking of eating healthy BUT not tracking just to give myself a break & knowing I'll be walking everywhere definitely makes me wanna do that more!

This made me realize that I planned for EVERYTHING except for my water intake. Thanks for the reminder!!

When were you guys allowed to start eating carbs? How did you feel? I follow a Youtuber that got the sleeve & she was allowed to eat anything including carbs after 6 weeks, while my Kaiser program wants me to wait 3 months so I was shocked to see her start eating rice, tacos & pancakes so soon. I had no clue the carb time-line varied so much

Head Hunger vs Actual Hunger
qtdoll replied to BlessedMomma91's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There is someone in my weekly support group that mentioned he is -never- hungry but has cravings. I asked him how that feels & he mentioned that to him cravings are always mental & are are two completely different sensations to him. I wish I could explain it the way he did, but to him it's like 2 different emotions. In the same way how one day you're happy & sometimes you're excited. Similar sensations but with their differences. Drilling that into my thoughts has helped me recognize the difference! -

Do you feel any better? -
I have not seen any family other than my mom, dad & brother since my surgery. Luckily my neighbors are absolute angels & said such nice things to me But I am TERRIFIED of seeing the rest of my family. They are kind but are very blunt. I told my parents to not tell them about my surgery & I worry they'll slip up bc my family is the type to want to know all most intrusive things. But even without them knowing about the surgery I know they'll want every detail. "high protein calorie deficit" is all I'll say, since that is in fact also true!

I tried that for a bit until I tried it w chicken that was a bit too dry & it felt like a rock going down & i immediately went back to real purees. I personally loved blending rotisserie chicken w low sodium black beans & a little bit of broth. Then sprinkled cheese on top! Its easy when the food is yummy. Good luck! 🤞🏻

I'd avoid constipation by taking fiber gummies/supplements. Since it's something we naturally get from food I figured it'd be fine during the pre-op diet & my Dr's agreed! It made life much easier during that time
-
For me, the longer I ate healthy in a that same 1200 calorie deficit, the more it became second nature. It gets easier as time goes & it'll go by QUICK. That discipline will become a habit!

macros during post op diet
qtdoll replied to KimA-GA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OH & I noticed you mentioned not knowing the calories for the Puree stage. This is what my Kaiser Permanente handbook says! If in the future you need more info on calories for each stage let me know & I'll take a pic for u!
