SoCal Kaiser Options Friends!
qtdoll replied to Helen of LaCroix's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also did it through Kaiser SoCal! I absolutely loved the Options classes. They were so incredibly educational & I felt fully prepared for the surgery. I adored their program -
If you still stayed within your calories you should be okay! Just stick with it, it'll all be over soon 💜

Things youve learned since having your surgery? What you wish you knew/tips? My Surgery is 08/10
qtdoll replied to LMorales's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Take advantage of your year long honeymoon phase! After 4 months it's very easy to 'abuse' your sleeve & eat what you want. Stay strict, stay commited, find healthy meals you love & stick with it. You'll keep losing when people's progress starts to slow down -
Yeah like they said, pouch resets isn't really a thing. It's essentially just putting you back on a diet. The main one I've seen is the protein shake diet & it works because it puts you back into a basic calorie deficit. You can do that without drinking just liquids, make it a better experience for yourself!

Bad habits before and after WLS
qtdoll replied to omrhsn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I feel bad that you think this is even a little bit bad! You are 100% entitled to keeping that private, especially when the majority of the population are very ignorant to the procedure & think it's a magic spell. If anything, id say it's a good habit to save yourself from any of that judgement! Haha -
Bad habits before and after WLS
qtdoll replied to omrhsn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ohhhh great thread idea!! Before surgery I had your typical bad habits. Eat too much takeout, binge at night, avoid mirrors at all costs etc. After surgery I'd say that have become a little too attached to excersicing. I can be a bit obsessive when it comes to working out, but its also a good thing. I just can't imagine my life without it now! -
Really hoping I haven’t sabotaged myself
qtdoll replied to justsillyme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One thing that we do during stalls is overthink & blame very normal things for it. This stall was most likley going to happen whether you were eating nuts or lettuce leaves, just stick to your plan & you will see results! I personally only use nuts as a topping as they can be quite calorie dense, but a little bit at a time won't cause much harm especially if they are salt-free (salty ones can however make you retain water weight) -
3 Days Post Op - Just Documenting My Journey
qtdoll replied to doubleJointed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow, 8,000 steps 3 days post op is quite intense! Definitely allow your body to heal a bit more. We typically ALL feel tired & weak after the surgery & from how little calories were consuming, adding that many steps is only amplifying that feeling. Especially if you're still feeling that soreness. Be safe!! 💜 Glad each day is getting better & better -
Hospital Stay/Exercise Must Haves
qtdoll replied to hannah grace's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For excersice: I got the Adidas Adizero SL Running shoes & they're 10/10. They're weightless! A Fitbit. Hitting my daily goals on there is my #1 motivation Compression shin sleeves are wonderful for preventing pain from walking/running/stair climbing etc A fanny pack makes life VERY easy at the gym/on your walks Look up cooling towels you can drape around your neck or tie around your wrist when you work out, they're fantastic. Lip balm. Sometimes we get dry skin after surgery & a lot of breathing during working out can cause lip dryness. Trust me, keep one in your fanny pack & you will use it A LOT. -
My program allowed carbs after 3 months! Whole grain carbs, healthy carbs, etc. I've learned to love Keto bread products as they're usually low cal, low carb & can be a solid substitute! You 100% don't need to be keto to get them, they're just a really good compromise if you want to go that route. I even make pizza with keto crust (I use Joseph's Brand Pita Bread & Lavash Bread for it) It's good to have around But I've also found that I crave breads less in general. I don't -need- a carb to be apart of every meal anymore bc all that protein keeps me full & satisfied. Maybe that can happen for you too

What was the moment/day you decided on WLS?
qtdoll replied to longhaul68's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My doctor brought it up! I actually never even assumed itd ever be an option but I had 2 failed weight loss attempts with him w pcos & thyroid issues. He brought it up, reffered me to the program, did the classes just to see if it'd be a good fit for me & it worked out! I'm very grateful -
5 days post op... am I feeling too well?
qtdoll replied to ptsmith109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you're having an easy time! The only thing I'd say is to expect a small stall soon. Not to poop on anyone's parade but I've been on here long enough to know this is usually what upsets people early on but it'll be completely normal & it'll break on its own -
Puking my guts out today :(
qtdoll replied to BabySpoons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My program at Kaiser let me know thay vomiting is not normal & it should not happen. If this persists, definitely contact someone at your program! -
Did anyone NOT have a 3 week stall?
qtdoll replied to longhaul68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can't say I avoided it. The stall hit me hard & it lasted almost 4 weeks -

Loose Skin Concerns* Please help if you have experience
qtdoll replied to Loot's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My loose skin is still very new & I will agree with this 1000%. Loose skin is A MILLION times better than obesity. I'd pick my loose skin while wearing smalls/mediums over being a 4x & filled out ANYDAY -
I’m trying to plan for my down time and hospital stay
qtdoll replied to £€@h's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So for me it felt like my like my new stomach was communicating with my throat. It's like my stomach was saying 'hey we're small now, so we can't gulp as much down as before' & my throat would only want to take smaller sips. Even now I can't gulp down 4 pills at the same time like I used to, I do them 1 by 1 now. It gets better as time passes by but you'll feel it -
Looking for "shorties" that started around 200 lbs
qtdoll replied to greeneyedgirl79's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Heyyy! I'm 5'2, my highest weight was 295 but I was 200lbs the day of surgery. I'm 8 months post-op & I'm now 133lbs (I surpassed my goal weight, I'm now aiming for 130lbs) At 2 months post-op I was also down 21lbs! Yeah it feels slow in comparison to others but sticking with it & being STRICT is what helped me get to my goal weight in under a year. Seriously, take advantage of this honeymoon stage. You may think your journey is slow but every little ounce ads up FAST -
Oh? Yeah suddenly feeling sick after every meal is abnormal. Definitely get in touch with your doctor. Also, you might wanna mention your stall. Stalls are normal but they may give you good tips on how to break it

1 year after Sleeve surgery...
qtdoll replied to liveaboard15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sorry I saw this so late but 124 lost is AMAZING! Congrats on your progress. I'm so jealous you have this chart. What an awesome thing to look back on! -
The early stages are truly the hardest part, a million changes happen all at once & it's a lot to handle. Just remember it will get better soon, you will fall in love with your results & wonder why you didn't do this sooner!

Loose Skin Concerns* Please help if you have experience
qtdoll replied to Loot's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I watched a video of a surgeon who said 'loose skin is the price you pay for being obese' is it harsh? Yes, but its better to accept early on that it will most likley be part of the journey -
Hair Loss (Tips & Advice please)
qtdoll replied to greekgoddess2468's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hair loss happened around month 3 & it was insane BUT I kept up with my vitamins & protein & it stopped after about a month after. I did not need any special hair suppliments or anything like that. Being properly nourished took care of that issue for me. I'm 8 months out & haven't felt with any abnormal hair loss since
