What's to slow?? Is this to slow?
NP_WIP replied to BlondePatriotInCDA's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I felt my weight loss slowed down when I wasnt eating enough, at 6 months I was eating 1000 calories, and now 18 months later I do 1200 to 1600, with my surgeons approval. I have been maintaining my weight since January after loosing an additional 10lbs as a buffer. Sent from my SM-S916U1 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Suggestion Wanted Disney World Trip in April
NP_WIP replied to newbegining2024's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I like to think its all about balance, so I indulge in popcorn when I go. I do look at the menus before hand, if there is a kid's menu that is not fried I will order from it or order an appetizer to share, there is always salad available or I will eat half a burger, but it will depend on your restriction. I take beef sticks, protein bar and Gatorade zero protein packs, just in case and make sure to hydrate. -

Every doctor has different guidelines. My nutritionist provides net numbers case, and an overall range based on physical activity. Sent from my SM-S916U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

You will, it may sit differently when you start eating it. I'm not much of a rice person, used to go for the "pegao" with beans, and I still have it sometimes. I find the trick to sticking to a small portion, I still have tostones, maduros, pastelitos etc, but I reduce the portion just to satisfy the craving. I was not diagnosed with PCOS but I was referred to an Endo, since I was off birth control for 18 months and was not menstruating for 9 months. I ended up not making the appt since I had already decided to go with the surgery. One month post op I got my period and have been regular since. I do know of someone who had the surgery and was pregnant within 6 months post after trying for over 2 years.

Like Sarah, I have to take a B complex with a minimum of 50-100 of B1 in it. Sometimes I interchange them just because of size. B12 has to be sublingual or in shot as we do not absorb them after the surgery. Even if the multivitamin has the other vitamins, you take extra as we are prone to deficiency. If Iron is in your multivitamin you do not need to take an additional pill, unless your lab work says so. Calcium I take a chewable and I take it with the vitamin D since it is supposed to help with absorbtion.

Messed up preop diet
NP_WIP replied to hrichardson89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do not worry, just start new tomorrow and follow the plan as per your doctor's instructions, you still have 12 days left so make the best out of them. Every doctor has a different preop program, I was allowed food from an specific list while others are not allowed anything other than liquid. -
Most people hit a stall 2 to 3 weeks after surgery. There is also retention after surgery because of the IV. Just keep working your program and the weight will come off. Also note you started at a low weight to begin with, so it may be slower but do speak to your team if you are concern. I like this post I saw on Pinterest once, if you keep working at it you will see the results, good luck!

Movement and liquid diet ideas
NP_WIP replied to Longview Lady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I made soup recipes for the family and just strained my portion of it into 3oz containers. I was allowed milk, bean soup, and yogurt during the full liquid, so I made that my main staples. I honestly did not exercise for the first month, and started walking after 5 weeks. -
How long did you wait to eat raw vegetables?
NP_WIP replied to SpacePossumSupreme's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I ate some cucumbers about 6 weeks in, couldn't manage to eat much because my body was reacting to the new texture lol -
For me it was normal, I was hungry after surgery, granted I did not feel the urge to eat since I was still swollen etc. I was told by my team that it could be head hunger or the stomach still adjusting the acids. The feeling dissipates once you start eating real food. I got used to an eating schedule that worked for me and now mainly feel hungry if its past the schedule or if I'm behind my fluids.

Am I supposed to swear off ibuprofen entirely?
NP_WIP replied to Penguin733's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to have it occasionally when nothing else works since ibuprofen is associated with a higher risk of stomach ulcer and being a sleeve, the risk is higher. -
Putting on weight even though I'm burning more than I eat?
NP_WIP replied to MaameWata's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do not go by the fitbit, I used to have one and it counts your resting metabolic rate, meaning the 3k calories its showing you burned include your breathing and your bodily functions not your calories burned by exercise. It also will randomly record an exercise or activity if you move your hand too much etc. I was advised by my dietician to increase my carb and protein since I was doing HIIT or strength training 4-5 times a week, so now I try to do 80g of protein with a shake. I do for carbs sweet potato, quinoa, protein bread or wrap, oatmeal (fiber) and cream of wheat. I tend to weight more or less the same when I train hard since there is water retention for muscle repair, so make sure you are drinking above the recommended 64oz to avoid this. It also helps to look at your weight total per month, not by week or weigh in when you are training, and to start taking your measurements to help see how your body is changing. -

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
NP_WIP replied to chiquitatummy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Went on a cruise, wore shorts and dresses all week no chaffing, I went snorkeling and remembered how to swim, and walk everywhere with no issues.
