  1. I work from home, surgery was Tuesday and I was back to work on Monday. Didn't really have much discomfort but was getting up every 30 min to walk to the farthest bathroom in my house or downstairs just to get moving, had the medicine cups lined up with water to keep the fluids coming. I didn't feel tired but I was not taking any pain killers after that Saturday so that could have been why. I did make sure to work 6 hours a day or take small breaks during the day just in case.

    Cooking for your family

I only cook one meal and adapt my eating habits to fit that. I cook rice, pasta, root vegetables every other day but will never eat it. I remove the carbs from most meals, cook low sodium, everyone is welcome to add after it is done, and I bulk up their meals if it's just protein and veggies. Granted it is easier for me since I mainly eat the protein and maybe a few bites of veggies due to restriction, but I find that doing 2 meals in the past lead to failures.

    Hormones

I'm still relatively new to post op, but in 2022 I only had my period at the beginning of the year, after March no period whatsoever. I started spotting a few days before surgery, probably due to the idea of the surgery itself, and 30 days after surgery I had my first period, 14 days later, had my period again. Not sure when I will have another period but I'm glad I actually had one after 9 months without one.
  4. I had surgery before 1pm, and my surgeon was done within 40 min or so. After the surgery they take you to recovery. I may have been opening and closing my eyes before but when I was finally able to speak it was 2:30 according to the clock on the wall, my first question was if it was done because all I remember was being told to move to a table and waking up lol and they will ask you how are you doing, I was nauseous so they provided me with Zofran. She then told me we were waiting for my room. A few minutes later I was being dragged, which was closer to 3:30pm. I was in and out of sleep for the next 3 hours. Nurses will come in and provide medicine, do labs, vitals etc and you have the compression things on your legs. By 6 I was able to go to the bathroom and grab my phone. My nurse reminded me about the walking so off I went for 15min the first time, then 30 min and so on. You will barely sleep on your stay, they are checking on you constantly, so I just went to walk every time they came into the room since I couldn't remove the compression things by myself. Honestly, overall, it was easy. We tend to overthink it and over prepare for it, but there is not much you need, you are out within 24hrs and any pain is well controlled with the nurses. I was able to shower the next day, go to pharmacy for my prescriptions and I went to have surgery by myself in a different town and took a flight back home 48hrs later. Good luck to both of you.

    Congratulations!

    I'm so cold!!!!

I'm more of the opposite, I used to always be cold prior to surgery, AC could not be lower than 77, but now I put it at 75 to feel slightly cooler. Now outside in the 60s makes me feel cold, while before lower 70s required a cardigan.
  7. My surgeon suggested weight training after 8 weeks, however you have to listen to your body. I had surgery 9 weeks ago and lifting a carry on still causes pain in my bigger incision and sometimes depending on the activity feel a slight numbness there.
  8. All programs are different, in mine I had to have 3 or 4 approved shakes and eat from a list of food. So I had shakes during the day and chicken and veggies at night or scrambled eggs in the morning. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

  10. Currently 8 weeks. Starting to exercise next week. Was lacking a little in the water department but have been picking up this week. I can tolerate mostly anything I eat, I have tried carbs (hospital food unfortunately), and some were okay if small amount, like 2 fries, 2 potato wedges, half a bun but if breaded chicken, could only have a little, felt thick saliva, I guess foamies not sure.

    23 Days After Sleeve

I second the water, when I have cold water or liquids (which I never really liked before surgery) it feels heavy. If I need something cold I just put an ice cube, so it cools but it is not cold. Also, portions are for guidelines, our RN said that some are not typical but when we feel comfortable, we should work towards them.

Working from home after gastric bypass

I also work from home; my surgery was also on Tuesday, and I had no issues working on Monday. I did lay out the medicine cups provided at the hospital and was sipping them all day not to forget the water intake.
  13. 1. Surgeon said no to straws at the beginning but then you can use I think 3 months out 2. I use those vitamins with iron the regular one and they have been good, no side effect. If you are doing chewables those are worse. Different surgeons have different requirements, I take calcium, B12 and B Complex aside from those vitamins and gall bladder medicine. 3. I had the barium swallow test to check for leaks, but they do blood work in the mornings, and I got those posted in my account to use as reference later on 4. I was able to use broth, used the low sodium. 5. My surgery was Tuesday and I was able to shower Wednesday. I did not let the pressure hit the incisions and pat them dry. Bonus: I took a robe (didn't use), charger, chapstick, wallet (self-pay). Left the hospital with the same clothes I went in with. No drain for me.

    November 2022 surgery support!

Hi everyone! had a couple of rough weeks dealing with a cold and a family member in ICU, but we are finally home and I'm back on track with my protein and fluids. Had to get an IV twice, I was getting leg cramps, but all should be moving towards the goal from now on. I do have a business trip next week but expect to follow plan since I'm now in the stage where I can basically eat up to 4oz of protein, salads, veggies and fruits, of course my intake is less than that, but it gives me variety.

    Time of the month ...

It could be either or. When I used the Depo shot a few years ago I was spotting for the 1st month, then no period until I went back to the pill. Before surgery in Nov I had not had a period for 9 months, one month post op got my period and less than 2 weeks later had it again, which the surgeon warned about. Ughh got a sore throat from the cold front that welcomed me to FL after my vacation, is hard drinking liquid or eating, but making sure I get at least 40oz in including a protein shake, soup and yogurt, honestly protein is on the back burner until I feel better to drink my liquids.

Happy holidays everyone! Came back from vacation everything went well, made sure I was hydrated, was a little low on protein on some days but only a few grams. Tried everything I wanted within the parameters of my surgeon and luckily nothing was bad everything went down well, and I stopped when satisfied. Hope everyone is doing well!

Regular texture food stage starts today, but I will stick with fish since I made 2 filets that will be like 3 meals lol. I'm allowed to go up an oz of food if I need to and can handle but I found my happy spot. I fly out of the country tomorrow, and have packed enough protein for a week, and will get yogurt to snack on. Had my 1st primary doc appt on Friday, blood pressure was in the normal range but still need to continue meds until she sees is stable after a few visits, lost over 20lbs since my las visit one week preop, my cholesterol went from 232 to 168 and everything else was in the normal range, even my fasting sugar was 79, when usually is in the 90s. She even checked my incisions to see how they were doing, and she will see me in 3 months to see about the bp and for my labs.

  23. I didn't get chapped lips but did get that feeling in the lips after having the caramel protein from premier. Also, the shakes made my mouth feel really drink and I need it to drink colder water to quench my thirst and I have also been room temp water.

Happy my soft phase is over this week, was feeling a little bored with food even though I was having different things, but I guess it was the cooking method and textured. Found my sweet spot with food portion, I can have between 1oz to 2oz, but once I go a little over 1.5oz, I start the cues. So now my leftovers are 1.25oz which I know I will be satisfied with. Had support meeting with nutritionist this week, went well, she answered all the questions we had and more.
